I have mixed feelings about the show this season but the ending was legit.

That ending though. I feel like the writers are using this as a platform to directly link to the actions of present politicians with immigration & islamic extremists. Or it's just a TV show designed to entertain. But goddamn that ending. I can see Merkel, Soros, & Zuckerberg sitting at that table all leaning in saying the same thing.

In the middle of Season 3 still, and I already despise Claire. Such an emotional twat.

I can't see this show going on more then 1-2 seasons. I like Frank as a character, but I want him and Claire to go down hard.

This season was a lot better then last season definitely, but Frank willingly getting cucked by his wife was hard to watch. They really pushed the whole "one man can't fulfill everything a woman needs" bullshit. He should've put her in her place after she fucked that dude in season 1.

Personally, I just like Doug. Alcoholic who loves hookers and isn't afraid to dig up some serious shit. Also not getting fucking cucked like Frank. His limp kind of reminds me of Dr. House

Dude's weird as fuck. Having that hooker Rachel read to him like a little child, and now is creepin' on the widow of the guy that should've had Frank's liver.

There's just way too much dirt on all the major players for them to not go down in flames.

- Rachel's dead body
- NSA corruption
- Zoe

And many more.

RE: House of Cards (TV)
This is classic power couple type shit played out to a script

In the real world, people come together and stay together to aquire status and acheive things they that could not separately.

The Underwoods made a pact a long time ago, that they would forgo all of the endearing things about a loving couple for an existence of influence and power.

They made a pragmatic decision, one devoid of an emotional connection but more of a partnership. Eventually that will backfire because even a women as cold and calcularted Claire can't deny her DNA code. She will still crave that emotional and physical comfort, and and that sturdy hand of guidance that only a self assured man could give.

They do care for one another but it's the kind the is grown out of a knowing familiarity and comfort. Sort of like me going back to sleep in my childhood room for a night with all the Magic and MJ posters still in tact.

In my estimation, that's really where Frank underestimated their alliance. Her quest for power is just a play to fill a bigger hole that Frank is unable to due to his lack of raw masculinity.

That was my initial reaction, but after thinking more, I realized it just shows how 'power hungry' both Claire and Frank are and how far they will go to get and hold onto power.

The relationship between Frank and Claire changed from that of husband and wife to something more like co consuls of the Roman Empire.

The election campaign that Frank is in at the end of season four is not just about his Presidency, but also a setup for Claire's run for President after Frank's two terms are over (plus the two years of serving as President after the resignation of Walker).

While Claire does not know absolutely everything that Frank has done, she must have some idea that Frank was involved in the murder of the reporter and the governor, both of which looked like suicides.

I think the relationship between the two of them has changed from that of loving husband and wife into a team that will do anything for power.

I would even expect, if they keep progressing, that they would throw each other overboard, if it meant that they could get power from doing so.

Well there's lots of behind the scenes shit that makes this probable.

Kevin Spacey was named head of Relativity, another studio, as part of Relativity's restructuring post bankruptcy. Apparently this ruffled a lot of feathers at netflix (a competitor to Relativity) and was also meant as a fuck-you to netflix as well by some for not increasing his pay. So the powers at be apparently want to find a way to end the show.

I agree with everything you're saying. I have no doubt that they don't really care about each other in any kind of romantic sense at all. My point was that she shouldn't be so careless and be out fucking dudes on the side when they're in the middle of a campaign race. I think it's foolish.

I agree that Claire with her affair is not the same level of using people as Frank was with Zoey (reporter). Zoey seemed confused, right up to the moment that Frank pushed her in front of the train, as to if Frank liked/loved her or not;and who was using who in the relationship. With Frank and Zoey, it was clear that Frank only cared about having an affair with a reporter at the newspaper so he could get to her write the stories that Frank wanted out in the press. Zoey seemed to think that it was 'cool' and 'great' that she was having an affair with a powerful and married man. There was even a hint at their first time in her apartment, just before Frank bedded her, that Zoey has been in other affairs before, when, just as she is taking off her high heels, Frank asks Zoey 'have you ever been with an older man before' and she just quietly nods her head yes.

Claire may be doing something like that a little, and I think it is possible that Claire anticipates that Frank can't be saved from the current scandal, but Claire's political career can recover, that she may go on alone and her affair may replace Frank as her husband if Frank ends up going to jail.

One possibility that occurs to me that if Frank's political situation becomes hopeless and it looks like Frank may even be up for jail time, that Frank commits suicide, leaving a note begging forgiveness from the American people for violating their trust, and exonerating Claire of any involvement in the scandal around Walker. Claire then uses that sympathy from Frank's suicide to win the Presidency for herself, and after a while maybe even brings in Thomas Yates (author Frank brought in as author and then speech writer) as her 'new' husband. They play it off as 'he consoled me in my time of need' after Frank left me story line.

I am reminded of a CSPAN interview that I heard (I was listening on XM radio) where author Robert Caro was talking about his book on Lyndon Johnson; Master of the Senate ( http://www.amazon.com/Master-Of-The-Sena...0394720954 ). In that interview, Caro was asked why he didn't write about the affairs that Johnson had and only mentioned one mistress. His answer was that one mistress was important to Johnson's career because her estate was used as a meeting place for an important political meeting at one point. All of the other affairs Caro made no mention of in the book because, as he said, 'it was just sex';i.e. the affairs had no meaning or importance to Johnson's political career so there was no need to include them in the book.

Here in House of Cards, we see that affairs are not entered into by Frank or Claire, unless they can somehow advance their political power and only if they can advance their political power.

Just finished up the fourth season. Definitely much better than the third, but a shadow of the first and second.

I enjoyed watching it, but it's still a disappointment that it isn't what it could be.

I have no idea why, but Gov. Conway's use of the Clinton/Dole thumb point thing annoys me to no end. Like the actor did his research watching old Norm McDonald impressions from SNL in 1996.

Complications from his liver transplant will be his undoing. That's why they put it in there. It's a plot device.

I still think the show jumped the shark with Claire as his running mate. To watch anything on tv requires the viewer to suspend disbelief. And you must suspend disbelief accordingly. A husband and wife election ticket is too much to ask of the viewer. If someone tried that shit in real life, their campaign would go down in flames.

There's also way too much grrl power bullshit from Claire. When you're married to the president of the US, you're in the world's most exclusive club. You STFU and act like the dutiful wife and play at your pet projects.

But the most important message of all is that we should be disgusted with ourselves for watching a show with a bisexual protagonist.

RE: House of Cards (TV)
White, home grown Islamic terrorists. Yeah, could have called that one. They got some Iraqi prisoner involved in the mix, but it still seemed like the writers were trying hard to tiptoe around stereotypes (i.e., reality) of most Islamic terrorism.

Other than maybe 40% of the series being Claire-centric, it was ok. At least this time around they didn't burst out with another unexpected lemon party ambush (Google image search that - NSFW).

There will obviously be a fifth and perhaps final season which will likely involve Frank's death, and, if political leanings of the writers are any indication, the swearing in of Claire as the first female president, hopefully (to them) timing perfectly to the actual coronation of Hillary as first cunt.

I would, years ago, have agreed that a husband and wife ticket would have been 'too much' for a suspension of disbelief; but look at Hillary and Bill Clinton. If Hillary wins, it will be like a continuation of the Bill Clinton Presidency or like having 'dual Presidents' .

I finished season 4 last night. I'm not one to binge watch, just watching an episode or two at a time. That led to some strange timing for me. I watched the episode Frank got shot the night of the Chicago Trump rally fiasco. And now the the episodes with the terrorists so close to what happened in Belgium. It all feels a bit too "glitch in the matrix" to me. But it also made the season a bit better in my estimation.

RE: House of Cards (TV)
I thought the early start of the season pointing towards Claire killing Frank was smart, considering that was what happened in the original UK House of Cards.

To then flip it into a husband/wife ticket was genius. A bit unbelievable, but a great twist.

I expect the murders story to blow up again, but then something more insane will happen like a false flag attack.

I love the Machiavellianism in this show. It's like watching a 48 Laws of Power live demonstration.

Regardless of the entertainment value, one factor that's being overlooked is the sheer amount of propaganda in this season. It's hard to find something that Hollywood touches without some degree of propaganda (and there are certainly exceptions, e.g. Sicario), but this season packed in just about everything. The only thing missing were some trannies (thankfully absent).

Here's the list I counted:

Feminism
Open marriage
Faggotry
Muslim terrorists being Southern rednecks

Every woman I know who watches House of Cards loves Claire. Long haired women, middle aged women, twentysomething women, married women, single women, all of them. They love Claire. Love Claire.

They all love Claire's affair with the artsy photographer, her indecisiveness returning to Frank, then her intentional damage to the photographer's career and his new relationship for her selfish political gain. I hear less about her tenure as United Nations Ambassador or Vice Presidential candidate.

When I was younger, I would have seen this as a red flag. Now I expect it (as a black flag).

RE: House of Cards (TV)
Of course the show's writers use the plot to shit on Putin. Putin must be the biggest boogeyman for Western liberal thinkers since G. Gordon Liddy.

I read a discussion on the show in a local newspaper (not posted on the Internet) and the liberal political commentators they interviewed made it clear that the show's characters made them uncomfortable. They didn't flat out say it clearly, but reading between the lines it was because they knew Frank and Clair are based on the Clintons and it made them uneasy to see the Clintons portrayed as such Machievellian, sociopathic characters, especially with Hillary currently running for prez.

Anyway, Season 4 was much better than Season 3. We'll see how things go in the next season. If Spacey really is feuding with Netflix' management, then there may only be one more season. Hopefully, everybody dies.

I watched the first episode of the new season. It was weird. Frank's speech to Congress in the beginning was hilarious over-acting by Kevin Spacey. Then there's the white, blue-eyed ISIS terrorist plotline. I'll continue watching but so far not so good.

RE: House of Cards (TV)
I got a few episodes in last night. Unfortunately this program is beginning to show signs of fatigue. Mostly spoiler free commentary below.

Clearly Spacey is still enjoying himself in his role, so he doesn't seem tired in his acting. But he also doesn't appear to get his takes down as well as he had in the earlier seasons. I agree the speech to Congress in the season premier was ridiculous overacting that Jim Carey would cringe at.

On the plus side is the plot regarding the election unfolds other than expected. Obviously the audience is anticipating massive corruption in the election given the Underwoods are involved and indeed there is, but the goal of their corruption is not what you would be expecting. They end up starting to explore an area of US Constitutional law that is largely untouched (but to say more would be to give it away).

That is as far as I am in thus far.
