Just saw some friends who have beautiful voices but ... they all turned into fat asses. It made me think ... are a lot of women who are phenomenal singers that way precisely because a voice is a voice and it's not a physical activity?

My theory is that great voices and great musicians (instrument players, let's say) are far more fat or obese than the population at large (no pun intended).

I'm also a big Mazzy Star fan. Hope is brilliant.

As for that song, well, it's a classic. Carole King is a kind of songwriter's songwriter, as they say.

I like this rendition of it, from one of my all time favourite female vocalists, Laura Brannigan. Laugh all you want, but she has the voice of Donna Summer in a very very spooky way. I was asking my ex-g/f about this and she said 'oh yeah, everyone says that, it's weird, she sounds exactly like Donna'. She should know coz she sang on some of her albums (Donna Summer). I thought I was the only one that noticed it. Pretty pleased with myself I was.

I was just going to post this one Donna Summer track, but the whole Carole King/Laura Brannigan/Donna Summer connection was too good to pass up.





Love to love you sounds very dated, really bad chord progressions - cheesy would be the term. One day I'll rip a mix with just the best parts - not so much a mash up, more a reduced sauce.

As far as game is concerned, these three tracks could not be more different. There is a time for 'Will you still love me', and there is a time for 'State of independence' and a time for 'Love to love you'.

Getting it right could mean the difference of getting laid or not getting laid.

But yeah, Donna is one of my favourites. She spent a long time in Germany working her craft. She is massive there. Germany was the second biggest record market in the world next to the US and Japan. Don't know how it is these days. But the Germans loved her!!

Don't mind women being mental when they are singing songs! It's like an outlet for them. I think we should encourage it. Better that than them chopping our willies off in the middle of the night. :-)
