Well most pre- and fully psychotic people typically want to talk about conspiracy theories. If that isn't an indicator...

I don't think they're crazy by default - and some did turn out to be true - but what they share is mind-boggling leaps about human motivation. In my view, most of them just fall apart when someone asks "yeah, but why?"

"Inside the mind of a sociopath"

That says enough to me. The question is, why isn't there anything being done?
Because the media controls what people think and do.

Why do you watch videos from mainstream media?

My favorite take on conspiracy theories.

I always ask myself, if there is such a well-engineered conspiracy designed to shape world events, why has some guy on an internet message board managed to figure it out? I think there has to be a certain malignant narcissism in believing that you've outsmarted the aggregate resources of whatever overarching World Zionist Freemason Bilderberg conspiracy that you are calling out as the perpetrator of (insert tragic event here)

I don't want to start this "discussion" again, but I respectfully disagree.

What do you think of Alex Jones? Do you think he is nuts - or being paid well to play a 'role' almost like an actor or a wrestler.

Also - what about Webster Tarpley?

Most are. Some aren't. Study the history of Italy for the past 60 years and be prepared to be amazed at the number of real conspiracies that existed there.

To debase the value or possibility of a "conspiracy" being real just because there are "conspiracy nuts" sitting in their basement is ignorant.

Why should the government tell you the truth?

What do they gain from it?

If you think the government is fighting for your rights you're in for a real surprise

RE: Does anyone think conspiracy theories are "crazy"?
The word "Conspiracy Theory" is a word used by blue pill morons. The idea that authority is to be trusted and has "your back" is a joke. You can find instances of Government and authority bullshitting.

You sometimes have to learn the hard way. I "woke up" years ago but always had my Uncle whom is a brilliant and fuking smart man tell me for years about the dodgy stuff that happen around the globe and his was prior to the net really taking off. I did not get m wake up call until I was handcuffed in the rain and stomp on by a fuking Cop whom arrested me for no reason as my Constitutional rights allowed me to protest. But sure enough the govt passed a secret law suspending such rights and it got me 2 days in a shitty holding cell.

So keep believing what he system tells you. Just be hopefull it's just a boot you get when they eventually fuck you over as many have gotten worse fates.

BUT it goes both ways.

"Conspiracy Theory" culture is perpetuated by dumb folks whom take in anything regardless of its sources as being true.

Without the ability of thinking critically and looking at your own sources you basically set yourself up to be given dodgy info like he rest of the masses/sheep.

The reason is that humans and systems have their limits. And especially with Governments their systems and bureaucracy are so fuking large they get sloppy or things leak out.

"Loose Change" is over 10 years old now and basically the establishments excepted "conspiracy" on 9/11. It had many holes in it, I didn't even believe its premise the first time I watched it. The play this shit on CBC, it's in the same box of "half truth" as Michael Moore, and Naomi Klein.

Go look up 'Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth' where over a 100 building specialists re-worked the official story and commission report, and re-created experiments of that very day and concluded it was a bullshit. It was not possible for the towers to collapse as they say they did, it defies a types of structural science. They don point fingers them whom they hunk did it, that's your job to research that. But it's an a amazing video to wake people up with especially older folks whom if presented with a mountain of facts, no mater how stubborn will come around.

The official 9/11 story makes zero sense. It's a false narrative that has become truth simply by it being repeated.

The Rothchilds had Trillions in wealth way back in the late-early 1800s/1900s. Nobody knows how much wealth they truly have. Some estimates say 20 Trillion, others go as high as 100 Trillion.

The rich get richer, the poor get poorer, it's been that way since the first amoeba ate another, and it will never change, even in a billion years.

The exception being times of great upheaval like the French and Russian revolutions. The problem is, when you hope for one of these "black swans" , you're wishing for a level of upheaval so great that even the poor are worse off for a while.

A line from a Badfinger song "There's no real revolutions, just power changing hands" sums it up. It's why I'm philosophically an anarchist, but pragmatically I think government is needed, unless you want your workplace to be like that thug's building that killed 300 people in Bangladesh. There's the so-called "free market" at work. The owner intimidated landowners and forged deeds to get his literal robber-baron empire going.

But there is one conspiracy that's real, that underlies all the anxiety that is masked by people focusing on the business/social ones:
the conspiracy by your telemeres and genes to deteriorate and for you to age and die.

It's definitely happening right now if you're over eight or so I guess.
It's going to kill you and everyone you know, and you will be totally forgotten unless you create some epic work like Ulysses or the like.

Unless you want to be a crusader for the unjustly persecuted ( like the people working in those shithole buildings) why worry about the one that's a "maybe" when you have a conspiracy that's totally, totally, fatal, inescapable, and real?

But to be honest, I never met a conspiracy theory I didn't like. The more addled, frankly unlikely and bizarre the better. They say a lot about the holders. Some are real if unbelievable at first-- the US government dealing drugs to buy arms for the Contras?!

IKE - What was the real cause for the "Revolutions"? Was it not too eliminate the Money Powers or Vipers as Andrew Jackson referred to them.

Kosko - next time I see you I have a pretty cool story about the Rothschilds and Oppenheimers to tell you.

In my view, the conspiracy theory genre is a pretty nasty type of paranoid entertainment which has emerged. This seems to be fitting with the declining civility of the Internet age. Back in the days when America was great and men were strong and admired, the popular entertainment was "Mr. Ed".

The linked video is about sociopaths.

As for secret groups controlling the worlds politics and finances

http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/new...t-20130425

Some of the biggest conspiracies are open secrets, complete with meetings that the public can attend. It's just that no one member of the public typically has the technical education and finances to show up to these things or to press the powers that be into action.

Now if our society can't handle OBVIOUS shit - and they tell us in our biggest Newspapers that they can't handle it, imagine what the truly rich and powerful can do.

I mean the billionaire Koch Bros couldn't get Romney elected -but if you look @ the general land scape - you'll see that the interests of the powerful are already being amply served.

RE: Does anyone think conspiracy theories are "crazy"?
Each "conspiracy" must be evaluated on its own merits.
Do you have time or inclination to do that?
If not, what is your default position? Acquiescence to what seems to be the dominant narrative, supported by government and corporate media, or skepticism?
My study of history, and what I have seen unfold in my own lifetime, leads me to be skeptical of authority. That doesn't mean I accept all conspiracy theories.

A final question, or rather a pair: Mayan priests told the people that hearts must be ripped out or the sun would not rise. Was that a conspiracy? Christian leaders demanded tithing ($$$) and obedience or damnation would be sure. Was that a conspiracy?

Think about it.

Dr Johnson rumbles with the RawGod. And lives to regret it.

Ah, not really true...at least for the last 60 years or so.

The rich have gotten A LOT richer...but the poor have gotten less poor.

If we don't fuck it up, this general trend should continue. I give us a 60% shot.

RE: Does anyone think conspiracy theories are "crazy"?
In order for there to be a conspiracy, people have to first....CONSPIRE.

That is, they have to sit around a table, map out an idea, plan the logistics, the financing, the security, the PR messaging, and then manage the ongoing process of....

DECEPTION.

And then all the people who sat around the table can tell no one. Ever.

I don't know how many of you have ever managed a business, or a piece of a business, but doing all those things is immensely hard just when you are simply trying to make some dough, and AREN'T trying to pull the wool over somebody's eyes, let alone, say, the entire population of the globe.

The latter is, well, pretty fucking difficult, needless to say.

By the way I would make the distinction between a "conspiracy" and "an ex post facto effort to hide the truth," or "let's use weak evidence to argue for action Y."

Going into Iraq is the weak evidence example. Benghazi is the example of ex post facto truth hiding efforts.

Are there conspiracies? You bet, but they tend to be quite small, and quite circumscribed. But 9-11, moon landing, Roswell? Fuggedaboudit!!

I'm reading 1984 right now and it hits on the points you're making about the rich getting richer and poor getting poorer. While I do believe government should be checked and not trusted 100%, I also don't think that every major event that happens is one big conspiracy. I think Alex Jones is a whack job (Or extremely clever) that cashes in on these conspiracies and makes big bucks over virtually anything of significance that goes on and turns it into a conspiracy. I think many conspiracy theorists are overly paranoid. That's just my take. But I also agree that the government is not completely honest to the people and does benefit off of their misery to some extent.

I don't think that's its a case of government working to harm people for its own malign interests but rather (in my opinion) government is often used as a vessel by powerful individuals/ big business to make money, sometimes at the expense of normal people.
