Where I live the only people tossing around slut are girls towards other girls who are almost always jealous that the "slut" in question is banging the guy she wants. Dudes may call a girl a slut to another dude but never in public.

I would blame hypergamy. Women are jumping on the same infected dicks, or infected pussy is tainting clean dick. Isn't it true that close to 25% of women in NYC have herpes, but only 12% of men do?

That's interesting, I hadn't heard that before. The CDC agrees, although they claim it's the result of the same asymmetric transmission between the sexes that we see in other STDs like HIV:

"Transmission from an infected male to his female partner is more likely than from an infected female to her male partner. Because of this, genital HSV-2 infection is more common in women (approximately one out of five women aged 14 to 49 years) than in men (about one out of nine men aged 14 to 49 years)."

Meanwhile, it appears that most likely over 50% of gay men have HSV-2, again like other STDs.

Sounds like slut-shaming caused a lot of young men to not get herpes from her. I'm no public health academic, but I believe that correlates to a lower incidence of STD infection.

Even if she didn't which I don't believe, since when did ignorance become an excuse? What would she say to a young boy whose girlfriend got pregnant because they didn't use protection or she forgot her pill? My guess is, two words -- MAN UP.
