I was rolling solo and still sober I guess. I liked the smaller clubs in Kemang a lot better. My main stomping ground in Jakarta is Immigrant, it was heart breaking to find out the place was shutdown for renovations. X2 I don't know why, I always struck out there. Talent at X2 was nothing compared to Empirica, if you can pull a chick there next month Chris good on you.

Ignoring the latent racism in that statement and taking it at face value, I think a lot of Asian girls make "ugly faces" because they think it's cute in mild doses to be weird and quirky. A lot of the celebs in east Asia are now doing their version of the manic pixie dream girl thing and it might have an influence on these girls.

Maybe it's because I'm Asian but I find it cute when cute girls make ugly faces... Also when they make cute faces. Unfortunately for uglies, all that shit: attempts to be cute, naturally being ugly, etc is inherently repugnant to me.

On a more serious note, I asked one of the girls from my last trip why so many people in Jakarta speak good English. She told me that many upper-middle class and upper class kids go to private schools which do a very good job at teaching English. As one of the final high school exams, private school students have to take TOEFL and get a pretty high score.

Long story short is that these social circles tend to be much smaller than they appear. This is especially true if you're hanging out with people that like to party and have a decent amount of money in what is basically a third world country. People in these "money" places know each other pretty well.

My thing (whether it's in the Philippines, Thailand, or Indonesia) has always been to hang out with well heeled westernized local friends who know the scene well. The girls who have money and like to party tend to do it a lot and much more than they will let on due to face reasons etc.. I have experience with many girls with money who aren't "whores" per se but juggle boyfriends as well because they enjoy a good time and have the freedom to do so. With the fluent english comes a degree of westernization but just not total westernization into bitchy feminist territory.

It seems that you have changed the variables a little bit, and added "hanging out in the club scene." I have little doubt that girls who hang out in the club scene are probably more sexually active than girls who are NOT hanging out in the club scene, yet my point remains that the mere fact that an asian girl in any of those destinations who happens to speak English well would NOT necessarily automatically cause her to have ridden the cock carousel anymore than some girl who barely speaks english.

In other words, I would think that we need more information about the girl - for example, her life style and where and how she learned english to determine how likely that she has been sexually active or how likely she may lie about her past sexual activity (if it matters).

The parents would have an issue because of religion. Indonesia is very much a third world, uneducated place. In that sort of climate religion and superstition take off. Women will smile, giggle, chat with you, but beyond that it *can* be difficult to go further (woman specific). For some women you're a novelty, but not a serious relationship prospect.

A couple examples, basically our whole shop would shut down Friday at 1130 for 2 hours so people can go to mosque. It was me, the one Christian guy, and a non-religious, but raised Muslim girl who stuck around the shop. I made some inroads with her, but after some talk, she said she was basically 'expected' to marry a Muslim. This is a country that doesn't recognize Atheism. Another girl who I banged got to talking, and she basically said she had to marry a Muslim, she would date and sleep with non-muslims, but that if her bf didn't convert before marriage, they couldn't be together. I had a boss from the states who married a local girl. He had to convert to appease the family. He doesn't take it seriously at all, but on paper he's Muslim which is often all they care about. Even the non-muslims are super into religion. Kind of like Catholicism in the Philippines.
