You probably would be, but any girl that has ever been in a photoshoot considers herself a part-time model, while her real job is in marketing, sales, PR, etc. I believe every girl I was with had done some kind of "modelling."

Agreed, that is one of the forum's quirks. Girlwise, Jakarta might currently be one of the best major cities in SEA. However, living there could definitely be a grind, the biggest problem being, aside from the brutal traffic, that besides chasing girls there is simply nothing else to do. That's fine if you're working during the day, e.g. on location independent income, but if not then you'll be twiddling your thumbs in shopping malls waiting for nighttime.

You can extend once for an extra month at the immigration office for a total of two months at a time. When I looked previously into it you could pay an agency beforehand to get you a 6 month social visa, but the rules change faster than one can keep up with them.

I looked them up when I saw that. They don't exactly have the greatest safety record. Always fly with a non-Indo airline, e.g. AirAsia, if you can.

Just came back from a trip to Jakarta for business and thought I'd share my 2c with my first post. Went to 999 in Kemang on Thurs night and X2 on Fri night. I've been to Bangkok many times and I can assure you that pulling in Jkt is a lot easier. The quality of girls are the same (hot girls in both cities) but you will find girls in Jkt are much more open to foreigners!

I was there for 3 nights and went out on 2 of those nights. I went out with a local male in the showbiz industry who I happened to meet while pre-gaming at my hotel bar. We approached many sets and none of the girls I spoke to had shields. Ended up having a SNL on the Fri night and got numbers off all the girls I approached on the Thurs night. One of the girls from Thurs night was going to meet me on the Fri night but I lost interest after I started gaming girls at X2 because I saw there were more girls of the same quality!

I am in my mid-twenties though and would say I have a bit of style, so I'm not sure if 40+ year olds with more money but less style would have similar success. From my experience, I would say money and looks would be roughly of equal importance to the girls there (looks probably more important in Kemang because the crowd is slightly younger). Having said that, I did see quite a few older men in their 50s with 7+ girls in my hotel lobby, so it seems you can pull here regardless of your age! Being a foreigner also works incredibly in your favour (unlike Thailand and KL).

Judging criteria of the city in terms of girls is as follows:

1) Amount of hot girls -
If you head to the busy places at night (Kemang, X2, Immigrant, Blowfish, Dragonfly), there will be many 8+ girls there. I've headed out in 15 countries of the world and can safely say that the girls in Jkt are just as attractive as anywhere else. Only problem is you won't see them out on the streets during the day, so I didn't get a chance to run any day-game. It's like they hibernate during the day because they're scared of the fucking sun. Apparently they're all in malls during the day (lots go to Senayan Plaza), but I didn't get the chance to go.

2) Openness to foreigners -
As I noted above, being a foreigner really works in your favour. The amount of girls you notice eye-fucking you as soon as you walk into your hotel or into the club is mind-boggling (and also extremely ego-boosting)

3) Easiness to bang -
From my experience, very easy. Had 1 SNL and all girls were friendly in their texts and keen to meet up again (just a pity I was only there for 3 nights!)

4) Language barriers -
Of course, being able to throw in a few words in the native language will be a plus, but I don't speak a word of the local language and I didn't have a problem. Apparently it's really easy to learn though if you have the time.

5) Quality of nightlife and Ability to have fun -
Tough one to comment on because I never really went out by myself. I think you'll definitely have more fun if you know other expats there or some middle-upper class locals who have a bit of style like I did. Otherwise you can just meet some local sluts at CJs bar in the Mulia hotel (lots of high class hos there) and head out with them like I was planning to. That way you'll have plenty of social value (not that you'll need it being a foreigner).

Just make sure you allow excess time for transport! Can't wait until I go back for longer and run some day game! If anyone is in Jkt please don't hesitate to hit me up on PM, I'll be back there very soon!

Upscale malls in JKT are great hunting grounds. Not only Plaza Senayan, but also FX, Senayan City Mall, Plaza Indonesia and Grand Indonesia.

About the amount of hot girls, IMO Thailand can't compete with Indonesia. You can see more gorgeous girls in an half hour at Plaza Seanyan then you might see at Emporium in one day. Dressed with better style also, which has its importance.

JKT is a great great city in ALL respects.

Many. As I said in the other thread, IMO Jakarta has the best nightlife in SEA and is swarming with upscale venues. You already mentioned X2, Immigrant, Dragonfly and Blowfish, and also I'd add Skye, Domain or Prive (in FX). Kemang as you also rightly said, has many many good and less posh options, as Loewy, Nu China, Triple Nine (that you mentioned), ect. Don't forget also the mega clubs in North JKT (like Stadium), that can be fun.

Just read this thread and gotta say it's pretty intruguing. Jakarta seems to to be sort of like Moscow was back in the late 90s with a lower cost of living (for now). Wondering how long it will last as inevitably it doesn't. $400 a month for a nice apartment with beautiful women who are very open to westerners would be some pretty good value. Wondering how expensive beer/drinks and shisa(hookah) are....

I was all set to book a trip to Thailand next year but now am considering Indonesia.....seems like it'd be so much better.

Question: are there beaches closeby to Jakarta whereby you could arrive on say a Friday, party the weekend, then hit the beach and chill from Sunday-Wednesday, then come back? Do-able? Or better just to party on through the whole week?

Also, how much does the Islamic angle play there? I'm sure Ramadan is quite dead, but is Islam 'in your face' once you get outside of the touristy areas, or still somewhat benign? I mean there was a pretty nasty conflict in East Timor up until a few years ago...was that isolated to East Timor only?

Personally I think that Jakarta is a pretty expensive city. A Long Island Ice T in most glam clubs and bars will cost you 100 000/120 000 rps, and sometimes more. Hotels and serviced apartments are definitely more expensive than in BKK. I don't know where you have read about 400$/month apartments, but just to give you an idea about high-end, a studio at the Ascott Residence will cost you at best 130$/day.

Anyway, and to answer your question, yes, there is beaches not too far from Jakarta. Carita is the nicest and is about a three-hour drive .... nice whites beaches behind swaying coconut trees, with as a bonus the panoramic view of the infamous Krakatau volcano (the volcanic island situated in the Sunda Strait between Java and Sumatra). You also can go to Anyer (about 120 km from JKT), which is a popular beach resort for Jakartataneses, and stay for exemple at the Patra.

You can also spend two or three days in Bandung, and visit the tea plantations, ect(the city itself is interesting, it was named "the Paris of Java"). Bandung's countryside is really wonderful. If you do that, you need to stay at the Sheraton, which is a Balinese-alike resort up on the Dago hills, which views on the rice fields - really a nice place to kick out for two or three days. I've made a post about the train trip to Bandung.

That said, I understand that living in Moscow you need your fix of exotism, but if you are in Jakarta for just ten days, you don't want to leave. IMO better you choose a hotel with an enjoyable swimming-pool (the Grand Hyatt comes to mind, the pool is truly gorgeous, but if you want to stay in Senayan area the Mulia is also great) and spend there your entire stay. Forget about those 400$/month apartments, JKT despite all its wonders, is a rather stressful city, and you need a nice accommodation. Don't hesitate to negociate. For a ten days stay, I'm pretty sure that you can get good rates (I've stayed once one full month at the Grand Hyatt with a terrific discounted rate).

About your last question, Indonesians are the nicest people on the planet, much nicer than Thais, period.

Some good information, it's appreciated, but it's easy to simply say "Forget about money" when you have a lot of it.

For a lot of us, it's a question of staying in 1st world sterility or taking a less than first-rate accommodations where we can at least get laid.

It isn't a question of "what is best", but what is the best allocation of limited resources for me, because I don't want to go somewhere for a month, I want to go there indefinitely, and not work.

Congratulations on having money, I think you referred to buying a 6000 euro coat? I'm guessing the percentage of guys here that can do that even if they wanted to is small.

Prosal, many of us are in different stages of life, and may be cycling somewhere in between boom and bust.

I've paid pretty big money for accomodation and I've paid almost nothing. These days I try to strike a balance and use my bankroll wisely. Of course, if you you have "made it", it is different matter. Many of us travel for long periods of time as well without working.

Prosal, how old are you? Many of us are in our twenties and early thirties. I imagine you must be in your fourties or fifties?

I could imagine many expats live in Jakarta without being seriously wealthy. Not everyone needs to stay at the Hyatt to enjoy themselves, especially not those of us in our twenties.

It's funny how I've read many many times here that a guy qualifies himself as a "Millionaire" (which I'm not) or as someone who earns "close to seven figures" (which I don't), without any comment from the other members, but as soon as I write that I like to spend my modest money on expensive goods or that I enjoy sometimes to treat myself in a luxurious place, someone jumps on me or reminds me later what a bragger I am.

Once more, I gave this tip to Akula for his 10 days trip and because in Paris he stayed at the Hyatt. OK, next time I'll refrain from giving tips. I am 50 yo.

I appreciate the tips about the higher end stuff. It is always better to get a wide range of options for everyone. Those that backpack can add in their favorite spots. Not everyone would be interested in them but some would.
