Chatted up a girl and her friend at a happy hr last week, escalated with only light kino but ended up grabbing her # and heading to meet a friend after about 45 min. Texted her a couple days later and we have a playful exchange where she is asking me questions to keep convo going, I am only responding with statements.

Then I throw it out there that we should get together for a drink the following week. She suddenly takes a lot longer to get back to me and writes this long txt response basically telling me how busy she is this week, that she just started seeing someone and basically LJBF.

Now, I feel like this objection would've come up right away when I initially approached her. So I'm wondering how to move forward from here. Basically considering the following:

a. short response ignoring her previous txt like "lol ok so drinks on Tues?"
b. change the frame "..I expect friends of mine to hook me up with their cute female friends, etc."
c. don't respond, cut off contact and write it off as a lost cause

Any other ideas are welcome tho..

Failing that, if I was to over-analyze the situation I'd say she was shit testing you: she's making a conscious effort to keep the conversation going which would make me think that, aside from the very real possibility that she's just looking for attention, she's genuinely interested. In this case, the 'I'm busy/seeing someone/need time to think' bullshit is just a way of gauging your value and by responding as WesternCancer suggests you'll maintain control and won't come across as needy.

But if it was me, I'd apply Occam's Razor in that her reluctance to get serious after an otherwise positive encounter boils down to the simplest explanation and is genuinely the result of something external to me i.e. her problem. In which case, 'cool' or 'gay' as a response would also suffice.

I usually just cut her off, but sending "gay" isn't a bad idea. Option A also isn't bad.

Shit test is what you make it. If you are insecure about something then it is a shit test, otherwise it is a plow-through situation.
