I only saw this once on Facebook today. Some guy tagged a friend on mine from high school along with 86 others (seriously) in a women's day status. Don't know who the guy was, but I imagine he's quite the chump.

In Colombia they celebrate this as well, lots of roses and chocolates, basically looks like Valentine's Day.

Tell you what Richard, when I see my Facebook feed plastered with people wishing everyone a happy International Men's Day, I might change my mind. When I see every publication under the sun giving International Men's Day the same recognition, then we can talk.

Or when I see Google change their search page picture to one related to what men have done in the world, maybe then I might be open to persuasion. You are interested in #equality, after all?

It's huge in Russia. One of the many days here when I wish I owned a flower business. I sarcastically told a few girls "happy female day", but of course they took it literally since every other dude they know is sincerely messaging them "happy women's day, beautiful!!!".

I even picked a few mini-fights this year, playing the dumb foreigner who doesn't understand women's day. A few told me to read the history of this day, to which I replied, "but did you deal with any of these problems or accomplishments?" They changed the subject after that.

Now in Russia, they try to counter with "oh well we also have men's day"...which is actually like a veterans/armed services day (defender of the motherland day or something) and meant only for those who served (women included now!). So, it's a real cop-out consolation prize they try to offer up to any who questions women's day.

I also refused to schedule any dates today. I'll see them when today's over and they come back down to earth.

This is in Russia, where actually I do occasionally feel bad for some of the women here - the one's who can't find a decent guy, can't afford to travel, are humble and feminine. But good god, celebrating women's day in USA now? Fuck that. Mother's day yes, women's day, no.
