Cluj mini-sheet
General Presentation

Cluj-Napoca is the second most populous city in Romania, around 300K people living here. It' s a major student city. I did uni here as well. I just moved back 9 days ago and hit some nightlife spots to see how the scene changed.I know some guys are planning to come here so i gonna list some spots so you'll have something to work with. Also feel free to pm if u have any other questions.

When to go

Preferably the spring and autumn months. June is also good it's the month with the finals but the party scene is still good.DO NOT come here in july ,august and september.

Nightgame

Janis stuff - student dive bar. Mostly young girls age range 18-23. In the weekends you will get some mid twenties girls as well but still an overwelming number of young girls.Quality is allright, nothing out of the ordinary. Some foreign exchange students as well, saw a group of 3 asians chicks this week that was kind of new. The bar has a great layout, with different dark rooms favorable for isolation.

Janis - same owners as the club listed above, similar layout, though smaller.I prefer janis stuff, but you can still check this bar out it's a 5 minute walk from one to the other. Also cover paid at one of the bars gets you in both bars.

Club 30+ - i used to frequent this bar 2-3 years ago. I got my one and only SNL from a club at this place so i might be biased over this club. I mainly used to hit it on fridays or saturdays. i went this friday ,allthough it was kinda late i was bar hoping and it looked terrible. So get there early.

Phi18 - cafe that turns into a club at nights.Went this tuesday for ladies nights , most favorable ratios i saw in a long time. Ladies night always used to be good in this spot ratio wise. Crowd is young similar to Janis.

Boiler - Hipster central. Crowd young like Phi18 and Janis. Logistics from this place is bad though. Usually i go mainly for the vibe and music.

After8 - kind of a second tier high end club. Small venue that gets packed so go early. Weeknights mostly young crowd. friday and saturdays gets an increase in the age range. Used to be frequented by a lot of hungarian girls. I hope that didn't changed cause i dont know any other place to find those girls. Went last thursday for their retro night ratio wise it was terrible. oh yeah check the clubs facebook pages to see their theme parties. Note that these retro nights, God knows why, are popular in Cluj. They play 80's 90's terrible music for example something like that "Haddaway what is love" song.

Kharma - high end lounge, club. Monday night is their retro night probably the best party in town on a monday. Similar to after8 weeknights mostly young crowds with an increase in the age range.

Bamboo - high end club. Go on saturdays. Talent is high. Like with After8 and kharma dress to impress. Crowd is mixed but mostly 23+ with some college girls and even some high school girls thrown in.

Note that in the last 2 clubs listed you will run over a lot of the same faces. Small town.

Accomodation

I dont know anything about hotels allthough booking.com would be suitable to look at.
As most of you guys prefer apartments i will give you local options. The local newspaper Piata-az has the most listings prices range between 50-100 Ron per day for short term rentings.i have no info about the quality about the accomodation. Longer than 2 week stays you can negotiate at an even lower rate. You can also try the online version of Piata-az but it has fewer listings. To be set logistically looking after an apartment near PIATA MIhai Viteazu or near PIata CIPARiU would be ideal. YOu would be a 5-10 minute walking distance away from the spots i suggested with the exeption of Boiler and Phi18.Alternatevely if you plan a longer stint, you could rent an apartment for a week hit the night spots hard and than figure out the spots you like and you'll hit regularly. Other bars, clubs have opened since my time away from the city i will write about them if i hit them.I'm kinda set on Janis Stuff and Phi18 for now.

I dated a girl from Cluj who did part-time modelling. Tall, great ass. She said there were a lot of hot girls there. Almost all of her fresh off the boat Romanian friends looked good too (this was in Chicago). Don't joke about Gypsies.

Easiest way for a girl to get into US (aside from school) is an au pair program.

Last time i was in Bucharest was in 2010. I was going down there to see a girlfriend that studied there. i would spend most of my time with her. I'm no expert on Bucharest, but obviously you cannot compare it with Cluj. Bucharest has nearly 2milion people livin' there from all over the country because it's the capital providing the best opportunities. So obviously you'll find a lot more hotties there than in Cluj. Regarding the looks of the girls i dont know probably you can find more brunettes if thats your thing.
