Im not claming to be an expert, but I know my fair share on this subject because I had to learn a little bit of it. Im also not a huge fan of conspiracy theories.

Lets hope that the opposition party can get elected in the coming years.

Crime is a big election issue and I wish that they would do things to solve that (hiring more police, tougher crime punishments, etc.). I also wish they would lessen their capital & monetary controls so that investment and tourism in Venezuela would be easier. Overall, there don't have make major policy changes to make Venezuela a poosy paradise.

The CIA injecting cancer into Chavez? Why would they want him dead?

- He kept Venezuelas oil flowing out.
- He pushed out foreign companies which meant more business for, guess who?
- He pushed neighbouring countries military spending up.
- He was a perfect excuse to hike up oil prices.
- He gave away money to poor socialist countries. (which in turn keeps them underdeveloped and chaotic)

After failing at one coup, he came back, winning the support of the mass of his own people and winning, repeatedly, in elections certified more legitimate than our own, by neutral international observers. This guy didn't come from money or privilege or influence. He was a shitty paratrooper in the army, poor-ass school teachers for parents.

When he was removed in a coup--with the verified support of the United States--hundred of thousands of people went into the street to demand his return. You can't just write that off as: "well, he gave everyone hand-outs." If you do, you subscribe to a good-guys-bad-guys version of history that is hopelessly over-simplified. He came back and fearlessly kept talking shit about Bush and his domestic enemies, with no fear of death or shit else. A lesser man would have taken his quote-unquote fortune and moved to Miami. If our leaders in this country had one tenth of the balls on this guy, we wouldn't have half of the problems we do.

Mad props to Chavez just on that, never mind his efforts to improve the condition of the silent majority of his people.

Rest in peace to a real fucking man. Piss on his grave as much as you want, his name will be repeated, fondly, more times than any of ours. I can pretty much guarantee that. In my wildest dreams, I don't imagine accomplishing as much in a lifetime as this motherfucker did in just over a decade.
