I saw GRAVITY 3D last night. Pretty freakin awesome. Never been a fan of Sandra Bullock but she nailed it in this movie. The 3D and space imagery were both sick as fuck. 90 minutes seemed like half an hour. Worth my $15.

RE: The Movie Thread
^^^ Try to watch Gravity in IMAX 3D if not its a must in 3D, visually stunning with great acting by Clooney and Bullock. I share Kenny's opinions of Bullock, not a fan but she blew it out of the park in this one.

The 17mins was one single shot, not cuts. Really cunning edge stuff and the film at times was emotionally draining.

Apparently accurate too.

Going to see Gandolfini's movie Enough Said. Got great ratings, and it should be a tribute to a great actor

In honor of fat shaming week, everyone should see Fatso with Dom de Luise. Great, great movie. I was just re-watching one of the greatest scenes on youtube, GET THE HONEY, JUNIOR. I won't post it here to avoid spoilers of any kind. Highly recommended.

!!!!!WARNING WARNING!!!!

Gravity in IMAX 3D was an experience. It was largely accurate scientifically (except for the different orbit distances of things) and just felt amazing. You almost felt the weightless environment, and it should easily win some Oscars for visuals.

The best part: NO FEMINIST SUPERWOMAN NONSENSE. I usually can't stand Bullock, but she's excellent. She barely hangs on to survive, and a man has to give his life in order to make that happen. She plays a proper woman with real female tendencies. HUGE praise to her and Clooney for playing it straight.

If you can catch it in the theater, especially in 3D, Gravity is a MUST SEE film. Check that, a must have experience.

Wow, just got back from Captain Phillips. Excellent movie. Tom Hanks really is one of the greatest actors of our time, he did a phenomenal job and I hope he gets an Oscar for his performance.

I saw The Conjuring last week. It lived up to its decent reviews for a horror movie. It's scary throughout without being cheesy or formulaic.

It's rare to see any good horror movies these days.

Saw Fargo yesterday. I think I got the recommendation from this thread. I don't know whats so good about this movie, it has some funny parts and Steve Bucemi does a good job at making the movie funny, but the rest is just weird and nothing really worth talking about.

6 / 10

Thumbs up for this one too. The best horror movie I've seen since The Exorcist.

I've been looking forward to The Counselor coming out next week. Really looks like a star-studded cast in that (Pitt, Bardem, etc. etc.), will be interesting to see the ratings it gets

Saw The Debaters with Dan-Zehl the other day. I realize it's not a new flick but I thought it was a corny-ass movie with bad acting throughout. Also, Forest Whitaker shouldn't be allowed to act. He's weird looking.

If it is even half as good as No Country for Old Men it will be awesome!

The Conjuring was damn good. Saw it in the theatre and some fat cunts munching on large sodas and 4 different snacks were laughing. Only fucking people laughing in a packed theatre because they are too fucking fat and stupid to realize it is not a "funny" horror movie like Texas Chainsaw 3D.

That movie about AIDS in the 80s starring Jared Leto and Matthew Mcaunahay looks pretty good.

RE: The Movie Thread
Below is a list of some contemporary, smaller releases I recently checked out on DVD:

The East (Thought-provoking and made me fall in love with Brit Marling)
In the House (French film with heavy literary and meta themes)
Behind the Candelabra (Fantastic performances from Douglas and Damon)

Bigger contemporary flicks:

Now You See Me (I have an affinity for magic. Nothing spectacular or groundbreaking, but very entertaining)
Star Trek: Into Darkness (Check it out if you enjoyed the first film. Benedict Cumberbatch is the engaging villain this franchise needed)

I'm a Danny Boyle fan and decided to check out Trance. What a pretentious mess of a film.

Watched Pain and Gain this evening. I really liked the first hour, but it kind of lost it towards the end. The Rock is hilarious as a coke head though. I don't condone what these guys did, but the mindset Lugo explains in the opening was spot-on I thought.

Pretty entertaining though, and worth a watch. Great music too.

Just went to see "Rush". The true story of two long time Formula One racing rivals James Hunt and Niki Lauda. One is player, the other is the circuit's nerd.

I really enjoyed it. Lots of adrenalin and women like Olivia Wilde.

Filth with james mcavoy is pretty good, it's about a crooked cop who's addicted to coke and manipulate/shag everyone around him. It's based on the irvine welsh book of the same name.

Saw Thor tonight, was better than I expected.

Kept to the same formula of action and laughs that Marvel movies have been doing well recently.

But enough twists and comic references to keep things interesting too.

Wouldn't say it's a must see in theatre, but if you like that kinda stuff it's definitely more epic on the big screen.
