I saw the trailer for the American "House of Cards." To me it looked like a terrible disgrace to the original series. .

House of Cards was good. A U.S. version is coming out with Kevin Spacey as the Machiavellian politician.

Luther's a great show. I know people griped at the suggestion of Idris Elba as a black Bond (not going to happen anyway), but the guy's a good actor.

An all-time favourite of mine is Saxondale.



It's another television series based on the life of el mechanico. Only this time, the setting is suburban England.

I really got into Skins when I lived in London, you have some nice selections here. Sherlock is amazing and I am waiting for the new season. I also second Luther, Idris should just do a spy movie as he doesn't need to be Bond.

T Ricky Raw had a great take on Skins:

I’m a big fan of the show Skins, which ran in the UK on E4, particularly the first two seasons (or series, as they say in the UK). Seasons 3 and 4 totally suck and aren’t worth mentioning. But the breakthrough character is that of Tony Stonem, as played by Nicholas Hoult. Tony is a textbook example of a raging narcissist and manipulative sociopath. It’s eerie how the writers and Hoult could so effectively and accurately capture the inner world and relationships of a narcissist.

Season (series) three is optional, but I recommend it. The last episode is great, and acts as an excellent ending to the series as a whole. I stopped watching half way through season 4, and from what I heard, it got even worse.

One thing to note is, if you decide to watch the show, torrent the UK DVD rips, or order the UK-issued DVDs through Amazon (to watch on a region-free DVD player).

The reason?

They changed 90% of the music for the American DVD release because of licensing issues!

And they completely deleted the best scene in Season (Series) one, the Cat Stevens singalong:

Skins season 4 as awful. Five and six were an improvement though. My favourite is season 3, but that's probably because it's the first I ever watched.

Skins is extremely popular in my age group. Almost like the Sex and the City of today for young girls because they all want to be as crazy and fucked up as the kids on that show are. I actually know way more girls than guys that watch it and can confirm that by looking at my friends who Liked it on Facebook.

The best moment of the show for me (and a lot of other people from what I've heard) was when Crystal Castles played Alice Practice in a club after the tragic thing that happened to Sid.

Inbetweeners if you want to laugh and cringe

FAQ about Time Travel is a pretty good underrated film.

Out of all the 'british gangster' that have come out over the last 15 years, even above Lock Stock and Snatch is Sexy Beast, absolutely outstanding, Ben Kingsley's best performance by a long way.

Monty Python's Life Of Brian is brilliant, at the time it came out they got so much hate and grief from Christians, it was even banned.

Four Lions is a british film about 4 terrorists, 3 of whom are absolute idiots. For comedic value it's brilliant.

Misfits was the rage for the first 2 seasons, mainly due to the character Nathan.

If you're looking at old school comedy there's Fawlty Towers, Porridge, Open All Hours, in the 90s there was Blackadder, Only Fools and Horses

Frankie Boyle's 'Tramadol nights' didn't get much attention but it's probably the funniest thing that's been on for a while in a totally un-PC way. I don't know if many American's would understand the accent though.
