British TV and Movie Recommendations?
There have been a few mentioned on here I cannot remember the names of, but were well-received by RVFers on both sides of the Atlantic.

What are some British TV shows and movies you've enjoyed?

Best movie of the last decade:

Dope Movie: Rise of the Footsoldier

Also:

The Buisness: Finally a G (International Playboy) in a Modern Movie

Tons of them.

I like British movies way more than modern American movies.

Layer Cake (full movie)

Book is insane too.

Keep the recommendations coming, G. I hope some of the British fellows will also chime in.

Have you seen the show 'Ideal'? I've heard good things about it.

A guy I know just came back from Ireland, and he said the Irish TV series Love/Hate was tremendous -- a Irish mafia/crime story , in the spirit of the Sopranos, but truly Irish.

He said that Ireland has a whole sub-culture of organized crime, and the Irish natives said it was quite realistic.

If you have Netflix(should be on DVD too), I would thoroughly recommend the TV mini series The State Within. Its a political thriller about various threats threatening to subvert Western governments and has a lot of plot twists and interesting characters. Its very highly rated by critics and the masses too. Must watch.

Yo you blokes don't know about some Brittish gangster shit, check out this BBC miniseries called "The Take", that shit is fucking hard dude, straight up gangster.

Also a good series that has a lot of similarities and even influenced the U.S. TV series "The Walking Dead", is a BBC show called "Survivors", I recommend checking it out.

Eastern Promises is a very good movie, while it takes place in England, I think it's still basically an American movie.

The Irish were the first to bring organized stuff to America.

Played a big part in the rise of The Irish in the American experience.

What is the show about mostly? Paramilitaries?

Sounds good.

Hands down best British Mini-Series I ever saw was "House of Cards." The intricacy of plot and dialogue is absolutely unrivaled.

Also the "Little Red Riding Hood" movie series is good.

House of Cards was good. A U.S. version is coming out with Kevin Spacey as the Machiavellian politician.

Luther's a great show. I know people griped at the suggestion of Idris Elba as a black Bond (not going to happen anyway), but the guy's a good actor.

Just realized I hadn't seen one of my favorite British movies in a couple years:

Don't watch the remake.
