RE: Thailand challenge
I saw a ping-pong balls, razors, darts etc. show in Rawhide on Soi Cowboy in 2011, all for the price of a couple of beers.

@Scotian- anything worth seeing is not going to be via the street-harassers. Props on your scurrying out though.

Actually, my favorite place at soi cowboy is country road. Drinks some pitchers, play some pool w/the hookers and random japanese dudes. Good-natured fun.

Seems like if your a younger dude, they dont really bother you too much. Its the dudes in their 50s that get solicited the hardest.

Nana plaza has some sights. Spankys was over-rated imo, I liked the jaccuzi show (forgot the name, its on the 3rd floor). Ask Asaxon, he knows the one. Its a good place to have a laugh and check out the bar-fine phenonomenon at full-swing. Its hysterical what is going on. Fat 300lb dudes walking out w/little petite thai girls. Good place to have a beer or two and get started for the night.

WIA- For most of men, our time being masters of our own fate, kings in our own castles is short. Even those of us in the game will eventually succumb to ease of servitude rather than deal with the malaise of solitude

A few things I'm looking into:

-BKK corrections museum
-Canal cruise
-Muay Thai fight at Lumpinee

Any other suggestions? I have to visit a temple and wouldn't mind checking out an art gallery so if any of you have ideas that would be great.

Am considering coming to Bangkok/SE Asia for about 9 months, or longer, and am very worried about this--that this is all there is to do there. Can someone say if there's more to do...and I don't mean seeing a museum or a temple, you do that once and it's over. But I mean to live, meet people, etc.; if anyone can compare to Rio or Buenos Aires I'd be very interested to know.

RE: Thailand challenge
One thing I can suggest you is do what I did when I was in Tokyo:
get on the metro/BTS and stop at any random stops/stations and start exploring the area by yourself, armed with your Thai/English dictionnary. Even better if you can find a buddy to come along. Even better if you can find a thai girl to come with you. Best and most geniune way to explore a city in a mega fun way. Try it, you won't be dissapointed. Btw, when are you back in E town? You may not miss it much, but E Town I'm sure misses you badly...lol

Careful boys. Met up with some awesome guys tonight Rio, Asaxson, Scotian. Cruised home on a motorbike taxi and got searched hard. Outside Terminal 21 police stopped me and searched everything. Mercilessly touching my dick. Luckily I had my passport copy and other ID. Dirty bastards.

Seems like tonight was " f the farang" night. First the cabbie quoted us 150 baht for a one mile trip, then I try to cross Sukhumvit, dodging traffic and crashing full speed face first into kdog, thinking my nose is broken, then the boys in brown search kdog...
On a brighter note it was fun hanging out with the guys. It is amazing how every single forum member I meet up with belongs to the 10% of westerners in BKK who have their stuff together and will go somewhere in life.

Kdog that's the second time in the past two nights that you had your dick mercilessly touched on Sykhumvit!

I'm into culture and history and went to the Grand Palace, Wat Pho, and Wat Arun. Wats are giant temple complexes. They are all very interesting. I also met Thai girls at the Grand Palace. I met some Chinese girls at Wat Pho so the opportunities are everywhere to meet girls in BKK. If you need a breather from girls just don't talk to any girls while you are seeing the sights.

Is the Viagra and Cialis sold on the streets real? I bought some 5 years ago and it was fake so have never bought any again. It's sold right next to fake Coach and Fendi purses, so my though is that it is fake. Has anyone tried it?

DVY and I got some good deals on stuff from medication to Xmas presents. Once the sellers stop smiling and insult you, you know you have a decent price. I prefer a western, transparent system though and do not want to live in a country where my whole life depends on bribing and ingratiating myself. For a trip this was interesting but I do not think Thailand and my personal values mesh. I find Thai culture very mellow but intellectually lazy. Even professionals seem profoundly incurious about the world. World war two, atomic power, even Asian philosophy and history seem alien to most Thais I met. They work, watch tv, eat and sleep it seems. This is purely subjective but very different from my experience with people in Brazil and E Europe who are often amazingly knowledgeable or at least have hobbies and goals beyond buying iPhones and sleeping.

If you don't like scammers, then stay away from India. India is much worse than any place in SE Asia.

I bought a pack about 1-2 weeks ago and I'm pretty sure it worked. I never will know for sure because it might just be mental for me but I could swear my boner was harder and lasted longer than before. Before I head back to the U.S. I'm going to go down there with 1,000 baht and try to get him to give me 6 pakcs for that price.

They originally quoted me 400 a box (with 4 pills) but I got him down to 200 pretty quick

Make sure you open the boxes first and look inside. Originally I think he was trying to trick me into buying a empty box. haha

Some of these greasy sex tourists around Sukhumvit really have no shame, or class. I just went to the 7/11 on soi and passed by this busted old dude with a hooker who was about 30 years younger than him on his arm. Usually this is nothing to bat an eye at in this area but what struck me as funny was the tee-shirt buddy was wearing "Sosua, Dominican Republic".

Right on, so this guy is basically advertising to the world that he already hit up one of America's sex tourism hot spots now he's doing his thing in Asia.

I don't get it.

I genuinely enjoy hitting on women. I love the success. I love the failure.

Fucking prostitutes just doesn't seem enjoyable.

Why shame? If he has the resources to do so and is enjoying himself I think it is great! I am not into prostitutes either but if you analyze a lot of relationships under " what do they actually exchange" criteria then women will usually gain ( marry up) and therefore could be argued to be pros in disguise.

Its not the fact that he was with a hooker, I couldn't give a shit about that its just weird that this guy would wear that tee-shirt, which he probably bought in 2003 and is still wearing, in a city where you can buy a new tee shirt for 100 Baht on the street.

How many of you guys are getting up at 6am and watching the superbowl tomorrow? I found a bar in Krabi opening up at 6am and for 300 baht you can sit there and eat breakfast all game long.

Stayed there twice, awesome rooftop pool with bar and down stairs it has a good beer bar with some cuties working there. It should cost about $60-70 a night. If you are going to be spending that much money I recommend Oakwood apartments on Soi 18, way better bang for your buck value.

Have you read “Private Dancer” by Stephen Leather? About an Expat falling in love in Thailand? It’s written as fiction but any man who has been there long enough will testify that the people and things depicted are 100% accurate and observable! It’s an excellent read for men in general. Even if you aren’t in Thailand.
