I agree with you. He was an idiot. But I'm operating on the view that a powerful man, who has loyally stuck by his wife who is now old and haggard, is somewhat justified in an extramarital dalliance, even if he was an idiot to do so given his position.

But her ... she's a classic example of a calculating, ravenous whore whose loyalty to her successful husband gets tossed aside at the first flicker of interest from a powerful man.

For a man to stray sexually from a woman who is well past her prime, and to whom he's been married for thirty-something years, is excusable.

Looking at her photos however, I do have to claim NAWALT. She looks like such a narcissistic arrogant bitch; you could see she thinks she's special. This is not about the mistress. Of course the director of THE CIA can keep a mistress in the shadows as they have tools and resources that nobody else can even conceive. Look at the larger picture and stories in regards to the CIA of late. He had to step down over the Benghazi situation as foreknowledge of the attack was known within CIA ranks.

It's worth watching Broadwell's interview with Jon Stewart on The Daily Show (there's a link to the video at the bottom of that article). It's interesting on several levels.

(1) How she presents herself physically. She wears a shirt that accentuates her toned, muscular arms. There's nothing demure or modest about her. She carries herself in a very headstrong manner.

(2) The way she speaks. Very masculine. Banters effortlessly. Stewart opens with a joke about competing in a triathlon with her, and she fires back, "You did great, I'm really proud of you." You can tell this is a woman with a higher-than-average testosterone level.

(3) Stewart, in his first substantive question to her (after the triathlon joke) uses the term "embedded" to describe her relationship with Petraeus. This makes me wonder whether Stewart concluded she was sleeping with Petraeus, or whether perhaps it was an open secret that she was sleeping with him? That term seemed a bit too pointedly used by Stewart, to be an unintentional double entendre.

(4) You can paraphrase her whole interview as a somewhat pathetic protest, "I promise I'm not sleeping with him! I swear!" Notice how many times she mentions that he also mentors other young people. Notice how many times she tries to play off the weird closeness she developed with Petraeus.

(5) She comes across as a really good example of a kind of woman I completely fucking despise. Someone who has masterfully played the system, succeeded at every stage of her life, but underneath that calm, composed, accomplished exterior is a grasping, amoral monster. Everything she says in the interview displays the gifts of a woman who is masterful manipulator and dissembler. She strikes me as a sociopathic social climber.

(6) It seems pretty clear from her interview that she had already slept with him at the time of the interview. You can just tell. She's desperately trying to seem like it's a strictly professional relationship, but watch Jon Stewart ... he's not buying it.
