The story gets even more interesting, fellas ... this Washington Post article says the affair was discovered because the FBI was investigating threats emailed to another woman "close to" Petraeus. And they found that Broadwell was the person sending the threats.

Two things to glean from this revelation:

(1) Perhaps Petraeus was having affairs with more than one woman, but he just had the bad luck that Paula Broadwell was fucking nuts and had to threaten any other women who were rivals for Petraeus's affections;

(2) Whenever you are tempted to conclude that a woman is "too classy" to do something crazy, remember the example of Paula Broadwell. A whip-smart, married woman with two kids, a West Point graduate, a Harvard graduate, and a Ph.D. candidate who has everything to lose ... and yet in the end, she turns out to be a typical, garden variety crazy bitch when she's in a rivalry over a man.

Maybe she is socially savvy and book-smart, but what a dumb, dumb bitch. Threatening someone from an e-mail account belonging to the director of the CIA? I don't care how many prestigious degrees she has or what her accomplishments are, this is just fucking stupid.

Stuff like this really confirms every bad impression men could have about women. Does she not see that if she, with her sterling resume, does something so fucking stupid, people would be tempted to conclude that ALL women must be vile, petty, small, stupid creatures who cannot be trusted?

He apparently failed to use a personal email account and instead used government email when hooking up with her last Spring. Which is how an internal investigation found out.

And on top of that, he appears to be a victim of an American euphemism being confused in interpretation.

Allegedly he wrote about literally fucking her under a table at one point. But "under the table" in America is slang for being bribed. So confused auditors launched a deep investigation thinking the later instead of the former. (source) Busting him for an affair seems extremely penny-ante --compare this to how Allen Dulles ran the CIA.

It definitely smells like a "tarnish your potential future competitors with scandals." move. But since it was released on a Friday afternoon after the papers closed, that's a clear signal that the administration is intentionally downplaying the story. He was only Director of the CIA for 14 months.

The fact that he was made to admit the affair publicly is a give away. As is the fact that it occurred days after the election.

Just accept the fact that we are not privy to the power struggles that go on at the top levels of the US. We can speculate. But you just look like an idiot repeating the MSM stories.

I like this, what could be a real explanation? Some plots :

1) This is part of a disinformation campaign, they need Petraeus to do some really secret shit , like "reveal" some phony info to lure someone somehow.

2) Maybe he threatened to dish some dirt on someone, so they had to take him down hard so he wouldn't have any credibility if he did.

3) Someone in the FBI has a raging boner for the CIA because it sounds so much more exciting, they nailed a guy in CIA and really want to ride it.

It's all so much fun!

It's true it's odd that since the guy busted ass for the military for like 40 years, why don't they just let him retire? Maybe because then the Rethugs could try to make a scandal out of it. Now it's out in the open, Obabma can say he took care of it and the Repubs can't get any milage out of it.

One thing to consider is that this could be a MAJOR security risk, not by blackmailing him, but by blackmailing her. She has access to his private email account. She has also demonstrated (by both fucking him AND writing his freaking biography) that he is very close to her and she can get him to open up.

If I (and probably most of the guys here) can see just by looking at her that she is a hypergamous status whore, foreign intelligence agencies can too. Just have a foreign intelligence officer approach her and threaten to destroy her family, career and her REPUTATION (the only thing she really cares about) and they could flip her with ease. Then get her to access the general's emails, or just ask him seemingly innocuous questions, and you have an amazing intelligence asset to exploit. It isn't just top secret information that these intelligence agencies want. Just knowing the General's state of mind during certain crises could give countries a major edge during negotiations and other events.

Banging some side-piece is one thing. But Petraeus fucked up by letting her get too close to him and giving her too much access to his life. I don't even Facebook friend the girls I am fucking, but this chick has access to his private email account. He should get dropped for that alone.
