Half of the country doesnt work when it rains, wtf
Where im at, its been raining since yesterday. Yesterday i went to the gym while it was raining and the gym was closed. Called few girls to meet up and they said they were not coming out (even when the rain stopped), half of the shops were closed. This morning i decided to go to the gym because even though it is raining today, the gym opens at 7am here and the rain started around 8.30, so i thought the gym would be open, i go to the gym and gym closed, wtf.

The world is becoming globalized but i guess that western spirit didnt get here yet where when it rains you still have to get your shit done. Now, i would understand if the infrastructure here was really fucked up and the whole country was inundated with rain, however their infrastructure is pretty good for a third world country and i can walk around without much problems. Aint that some bitch ass shit to sit indoors and not get anything done just because is raining.

P.S. Im in DR btw

Going out here is useless when it rains. The girls don't want to get their hair wet. The biggest is pay close attention, cause after a few days and it dries, they will be out in droves.

I've had two girls flake on me since the storm, and none from neighboring towns will travel to see me.

PM me your location. I'm still in Santiago.

Reminds me of a story my dad told me...

My father is from London. Y'all know the deal with rain over there... everything goes on as normal, you just do it with a raincoat, boots, and umbrella.

He moved to Los Angeles at 29 years old. And you know the deal with rain there - pretty much never.

So it does rain one day... and several employees called in saying they couldn't make it to work because of the rain.

He did not comprehend this at all, and was such an odd thing to hear for him at the time. More than 30 years later he still brings this up anytime someone complains about the rain

I'm in the same boat as fujiwaras dad. Why would some rain shut everything down? If that was the case here it'd be a ghost town most of the year

^^^ I flew into London a few years back when it snowed and shut down the city. The elderly cats were furious, remembering when the Londoners dealt with it and still showed up to work.

One of the funniest things I've seen the last few years in the ATL area. There's been some pretty good snow, every redneck has a jacked up 4x4 with heavy tires. A the first flake, all the businesses shut down, and they all run home. Here I go on bald tires and never had to put it in 4WD. I grew up in the mountains though, and people still know how to traverse bad weather.

As for the DR, the public trans system here isn't all that great. I lot of people use motoconcho's to get to and from work. It would suck taking one in the rain. And take a look at some of the gua-gua's here. Some are missing doors. That's part of it. Then again the work ethic here isn't exactly up to U.S. or U.K. standards.

Yeah people here cannot deal with even a half inch of snow. Problems is ice though. It's a legit issue and there are no salt trucks within 500 miles.

I lived in CT for a year before moving here where we had one of the worst winters in a while. It snowed like 70" in a 2 day period or something stupid like that. Yup, still had to drive over a mountain and report to work. I had a RWD car, but with snow tires and electronic traction control it did the job and was pretty fun to drift around.

Not hating on you at all Pitt. I am just teasing you man. I just thought it was funny how you want to live life and not chase money while complaining about countries not having the western mentality of working.

Nothing wrong with that but when everyone does that then you sit inside when it rains because everyone is not working.

I think you got some potential and hope you push yourself a little more towards it.

Pitt, When people live in places with great weather, they shut down once there is any crap weather in the Western hemisphere (please correct me if wrong). I am here in South Florida and when there is rain, people vanish.
Went out last night with Nomad and the turnout was lower than it would be if there is no rain.

As Ali said, the lizards don't want to get their mascara ran or their hair messed up and thus they don't want to deal with the rain.

In London, rain is part of life.

I was living in Georgia a long time ago and it snowed briefly. I mean, nothing was really sticking to the ground. It seemed like an Apocalypse started with people stocking up can goods and toilet paper.

I am from the north where we get snowed on a lot.

Folks in the American south crack me up when word gets out that a "snowstorm" is on the way. I grew up in Ohio and Kentucky, and it snows here almost every winter without fail - some worse than others.

Some years ago I went to visit my brother in North Carolina, where he was stationed in the military. Weather advisory goes out that the region is expecting TWO INCHES of snow - everybody flips. Groceries stores sell out of milk, bread, toilet paper, etc.

I never could understand it. Here two inches of snow means you leave the house a minute early to brush off the car, then go about your day.

I was up in Raleigh back in '02 when that epic icestorm wiped the city out. Now that was bad. I could have drove down the coast to Wilmington and waited it out, but there's no adventure in that. I had a kerosene heater and a Weber grill. I secured myself and went out picking up old veterans to keep them from freezing, dropping them off a vet club with power.

People freaked out over that storm, but it was pretty bad. Good times. My trucks have saved my ass so many times. That's why a roll my eyes when a European bitches at me for unnecessarily having a "gas hog".

I remember hearing spains airports where shutdown once when it snowed 1-2 inches. Apparently snow is so rare they dont have any snow removal equipment.

My region also flips out when we expect 2 inches of snow (Mediterranean coast), but I think it's normal. Snow happens maybe once every 10 years, so it's always a cause for celebration and abandonment of work, plus no drivers really know how to drive in it.

This year, this kind of thinking really punished us badly because the snow was much more than 2 inches - the coldest winter in 100 years - and since the city doesn't have any snow removal services, the entire city was paralyzed by ice for days. It was an experience like out of I am Legend.

Its always raining here. I think I read that we get more than Seattle. Last time, some bitch in a truck tried to exit the freeway from the fast lane at the last second and did a 360. I was right next to her and just seen cars slamming into each other all around her while I got away. Rain and the freeway is the only time I get kind of nervous and drive extra slow.

Prius owners are as bad or worse. A neighbor as one.

I live on a township road that has a tendency to drift and they plow it when they feel like it. I drove around his Prius, stuck in the middle of the road one day, with the Avalanche while he sat there spinning his wheels.

Fuck him.

I realized a while ago: cute girls are solar powered.

Jim Rohn had a good lesson when it comes to average people making bad choices: don't spend your time figuring out "why." It's not worth knowing; just accept the reality that most people act crazy.

Haha in canada it has snowed in every single month.
Snow is nothing to us, we play in it.
It has to get -35 before windchill and/or 12 inches of snow before they start to shut things down and even then most people will just bring out their snowmobiles.
