RE: The Los Angeles thread
Venice was pretty good this weekend. +1. Only issue was the 405 was closed on the way back. FML. I was sitting in bumper to bumper traffic for almost an hour at 2am. gay.

Traffic and driving aside, Venice is a great spot to pick up white girls- blondes, brunettes, red-heads.

Funny story from Saturday night, I am dancing w/this chick. Some guy in hipster outfit and nerdy glasses grabs her and starts talking to her-blocking me off. I think its somebody she knows. She sidesteps him and then grabs me and we dance for another 30 seconds. He grabs her again, and then tries to chat w/her again and tries to pull a robbery on me: slowly stepping away from me w/her.

I grabbed her by the arm, pulled her into my arms, and then moved away from him. 2 mins later, he walks up AGAIN.
Asks me "Can I talk to her?"
DVY "Do you know her?"
Hipster " No, but I want 2 seconds w/her"
DVY "Bro, who are you?"
Hipster "Im Alex, yada yada yada"
DVY "Fuck off man. Why are you still here?"

Girl- beaming from eye to eye and loving the drama. She kissed me 30 seconds later. Some thirsty dudes out in Venice after midnight. So be prepared to deal w/some issues. Also almost got into a fight w/this 6'4 white dude as I was leaving the bar.

WIA- For most of men, our time being masters of our own fate, kings in our own castles is short. Even those of us in the game will eventually succumb to ease of servitude rather than deal with the malaise of solitude

^ I stood in line in 2000 at the Arnold Classic to get my picture taken with him. (Lame, but I was in college and star struck.)

When the pic came out (that was in the day of Polaroids), I was surprised to see that I was taller.

He was also wearing shoes with 2" bottoms.

I am 6' with my shoes off, as measured in an Army physical. I used to say I was six foot, then guys would say, "No way! You're taller than I am and I'm six foot!"

Since everyone lies about their height, I am 6'1-6'2 by society's standards.

So I was taller than Arnold even though he was wearing thick soled shoes.

RE: The Los Angeles thread
So many male actors in Hollywood lie about their height that I always take the height that is listed on their IMBD or wikipedia page with a grain of salt.

In fact, here is an article about it (a bit dated, but still good):

A big difference in LA is that a guy can literally work as a waiter/valet past 25 and still be seen as high-value to attractive women if he's in shape/attractive, and has an "edge", whether it be hipster/rocker/Euro soccer player style.

In any other city, your job matters more, even in terms of short-term flings. Terms like "investment banker, hedge fund manager, financial planner" literally mean nothing to so many women in LA.

Guys complain a lot about logistics. I can see that being a problem with everything being so spread out. But, with this amount of girls and the density of population, there is no excuse not to do well here. Day game is a goldmine.

If I lived here, the most important thing would be LOCATION. I would make damn sure that I lived and worked in an area where lots of girls also lived and worked.

Like I said before, I would likely live a few blocks from UCLA.

If logistics are a problem, fix your logistics.

LA is a great place for girls. No excuses. Fix your game, fix your logisitcs.

There are millions of pretty girls here, literally, millions!

I would not be driving all over the place chasing them. I would identify a neighborhood that was a a good fit for me and I would develop a system to maximize that neighborhood. Maybe, I would move every other year or so. There are so many different fishbowls in LA! A player should do well here.

I feel like in LA, logistics are 70% of the game. Focus on that first. Finding cute, freindly girls is the easy part.

I wouldn't say there are millions of hot girls in LA (you were probably exaggerating), but no one ever really said that there weren't hot women in LA. The ease of getting with these hot women is what is usually debated.

Most guys come to LA and head out to the Hollywood/WeHo club & bar scene and get shot down quickly. I think that is what causes a lot of the grips about LA. However, you are right, picking the right location is crucial to pulling in LA since logistics is a serious issue. A more productive use of time is finding the right neighborhood/fishbowl and learning to make the best of it.

As for living in Westwood Village (the neighborhood near UCLA), that place is expensive as hell to live in and so the studio & single bedroom apartments in that area go quick since so many students are competing to get these places. That is usually the case with most of the desirable neighborhoods in LA: the demand to live there exceeds the supply, so rents are high.

Another problem is that when I lived in LA, I worked all day, so day game opportunities were always limited to weekends. In that sense, I guess the workaround is to get a freelance job that has flexible hours to allow plenty of day game opportunities, but the drawback is freelance work will result in a lot less money and more of a need to have side hustles to make ends meet.

In the end, though, you are right. You can make LA work, but it just requires a bit more of a plan than most other cities.

Not true. I live in Austin, TX and you can be a pizza deliver guy here and still bang cute girls. There are probably other cities/neighborhoods (Brooklyn comes to mind) that have this culture as well, but I can't think of too many off the top of may head.

I travel between Austin and LA all the time for family business, and I would say your job matters less in Austin than in LA as far as picking up girls is concerned.

It is a kind of a college town, but it is also a hipster town. I have noticed that any place that trends toward hipsterism tends not put much emphasis on jobs as a way to attract women.

Brooklyn is like this as well.

Yeah, when I hear people say things like "There are so many hot girls in LA, there's no excuses", I want to know if YOU are banging these hot girls that you're oogling. And if so, please drop some intel. Yes, the girls are here, but I don't think too many guys here on the forum are up to their necks in 8s and 9s. McQueen may be the exception and he's got a solid niche.

I'm curious to see how someone like Neil does who is fresh off the boat, who we know has international game and can pull all over the world. If he comes up empty handed here, then we know this place is fucked.

2nd that spot. Many places walking distance and a revolving door of foreign ass out of that place.

I think there's a few beer gardens closer to the Santa Monica side of things where people just hang out and drink.

I personally kill out of the Whaler and have never done shit out of James Beach for whatever reason.

Erwin is great to invite chicks (MikeCF hit it right with that photo), but the way its set up its hard to crack the circles. The tables are isolated and essentially bunkered by the planters around them. If you happen to be in the little booth area with other chicks, it can be gold.

Yep. I used to see him at Schatzi's on Main (back before it was sold and converted to 31 Ten) and Hollywood Smoke.

I've stood right next to him. He is shorter than I was, even with his elevator shoes.

He's 5'10" tops.

His office is still above Hollywood Smoke and he is in there regularly. I am 95% sure he still owns the real estate there as I KNOW he did when it was Schatzi's, and I think he may have even owned Schatzi's at one point.

Living in LA and looking for him, he is probably the easiest celebrity of any to find.

FOB and on a budget living in a hostel, is not gonna pull the 8 and 9's in LA. He'll get laid, but most likely not by them without some super human game. I think the bigger question to be answered is: IF he manages to pull the creme de la creme the City of Angels offers with his situation, we anoint him King.

Yes, that's the one. Damn that is expensive for a hostel. I think its a lot of Scandos and Euros, so its not that expensive for them and in a great spot.

I know there's a hostel right in the middle of Venice beach about 1/2 block from the action on the boardwalk (it does tend to get a little ghetto on the beach itself though)..not sure how it is, but logistics are GREAT. Its right by the Townhouse, Nikkis, etc...like a block away

http://townhousevenice.com/

http://venicebeachcotel.com/location/

checked, its about the same as santa monica price wise i guess.

there's also a hostel right on the Hermosa Pier in the middle of the bars. Probably shouldn't make it a base, but it'd be good to spend a few weekends there and "be a local".

The Banana Bungalow hostel in Hollywood gets good reviews too. Honestly though I couldn't imagine staying in a dormitory with constantly rotating strangers for a few months. I'd rather sublet a room in a shitty area before I did that.

RE: The Los Angeles thread
You can find a sublet around Venice, Santa Monica, WeHo, Hollywood, Los Feliz, and Silverlake for about $800-900 a month easily. Sublets are typically furnished, and if you find one with good housemates you might have some wings who know the area.

Otherwise, banana bungalow is a good place if you're into young foreign girls who usually aren't old enough to go out to clubs so they stay around to get drunk in the hostel (and hookup). The HI Santa Monica is pretty nice and clean for a hostel, but they have a 10pm quiet time, so it sucks for hostel bangs. The Venice Beach hostel, I haven't been to, but it's pretty nicely located (as PartyOnBro already suggested).

If you're into club hoes, and having decent options to go out nightly, there's no other viable option than Hollywood (and the vicinity). Silverlake/Echo Park/Los Feliz is also good if you like to go drinking any night of the week.

If you like the beach and like keeping the nightlife to thurs-sundays, then Venice is a good choice.

In either case, I'd strongly suggest perusing the sublet listings on craigslist to see what you can find.

hit up the bungalow in santa monica last night. first time I've been there later at night (versus happy hour/after work). ratios were a little bad, there was still a large line (we had a table though so skipped that)...talent was decent and surprisingly approachable.

i still can't believe that place has basically two toilets for guys for the entire venue.

also walked on the venice boardwalk on saturday...that Venice Ale house looked good but the "On the waterfront cafe" seemed to be better.

oh yeah, used UBER for the first time...took a towncar there and just walked in bypassing the 100+ people line, that was a good call on my part. hah.

might try out LYFT next time.

Agreed.
