It's pretty amazing out here how much further you get just being in the industry. Spent happy hour with some guys in the industry, and knowing the girls they pulled (seen it firsthand) really makes you see how useless it is here when you are not part of that scene. The effort I put into a 6-7 divide that by 20 and that's what it takes them to get an 8.

Slubu you just reminded me of something I discovered recently. If you live in the LA area you have to make use of PROFESSIONAL MIXER GAME.

Open a profile on LinkedIn and join a bunch of groups for your profession and also groups of "professionals" (generally) in your city or county. Then you will get spammed with emails about networking mixers.

These mixers are a goldmine in LA. Basically it gives you a chance to go to a bar or venue where everyone literally just introduces each other. There is absolutely NO approach anxiety or awkwardness. Everyone is wearing a name tag and hot girls there even expect you to just introduce yourself. Definitely make some professional small talk and connections at first, but then just hit on the girls there. In LA I know there are hot girls in entertainment, accounting (surprisingly), human resources, and even attorneys and dentists sometimes.

This is essential in LA because it's one of the only ways to meet girls in a cool venue while they are in a friendly element, not in stuck-up-mode.

It's easier than both day and night game. The events are held in between - in the late afternoon/early evening. So you can still get a good night sleep

Yes. A lot of it is networking and girls are in business/sales mode, but I've gotten dates from there. But it truthfully is mostly just add a bunch of randoms to my linkedin. Some of them have after events like bars, etc...its just like a regular bar/happy hour/etc. If you want to bust into social circles, alot of these girls are out and about on the westside..I just randomly started bumping into them out in the weekends, at events, etc...and then have a connection to access them and their friends. I've found quite a few of the girls are new to LA and don't really go to bars, etc since they are relatively new and have no circle of friends, etc.

HOWEVER, if you have something you can provide them that will help their career (or promise to), you will probably be able to work that. But to get to be an agent/power/money, you have to be networking all the time, just in general so it serves several purposes anyways.

some of the "larger ones" are really bad. A bunch of "financial planners" and sales people trying to pitch you MLM crap. etc....some are worthless. the niche ones are better. there are ones that are just people drinking and not trying to pass off resumes, etc....more free drinks, etc.

basically if you have to pay to get in, its a waste of time.

I'm a westsider and generally dislike the valley and do my best to avoid it. Lately I have had some business down there so I want to find some intel on some good spots where you can find some ladies and have some drinks/food.

The valley is actually quietly loaded with a lot of hot girls (models, actresses, strippers, etc) who moved there instead of places in Hollywood where you would expect them to be. I know in Studio City, Fire Fly used to be a good spot (maybe still is) and I pulled quite a few chicks out of there. In Woodland Hills there is a Mexican joint called Sol De Luna which in the bar area often has chicks during happy hour and into the evening and also has good logistics to talk to them.

Can anyone give some names of good bars and or restaurants in the valley that hold?

This may be buried in the thread somewhere at some point but I missed it if so.

I rarely actually go out in the valley even though I live here, but I think the Federal Bar in NoHo is good. Downstairs it's a nice mix of regular bar, lounge areas and dining areas. Upstairs it's a club. Probably the best spot in the valley right now. And the good thing is it's right across the street from the terminus of the red line, so you can always hop on the subway and head to Hollywood or downtown if it's wack.

Damn, I've been slipping up on Federal Bar. A good girlfriend of mine does the monthly burlesque show there which is supposed to be packed and always tells me to come and I haven't been able to make it. Next time I'm making the trek for sure and will check it out.

Looks like the place that used to be Clear, is now Page 71 Lounge. Could be worth a look from what I can find on the web on it.

I'm right with you on the crowd at Mad Bull's and Laurel Tavern. Have been to both once. Not my scene at all in general, but for free UFC it sounds like a good place to be.

Serious shortage of good more upscale bars/lounges in the valley it sounds like. Too many of those fuckin' lame rock bar type places where nobody bothers to throw on any decent threads.

Valley has a lot of lame bars for picking up. If you are looking for a good night I would generally skip this area. Valley has some fantastic food though and great happy hours.

Studio City-
R Lounge- terrible
p71- decent, but lots of thirsty dudes later in the night
firefly- 30s+ crowd
mad bulls- meh crowd. Couple friends have pulled out of here.

Sherman Oaks-
Smiles- haven't been, but heard that it can be good upon occasion

For food/ light summer macking (school isn't in session)-

Best happy hour in the valley is at Kabuki on Canoga and Ventura. Fantastic spicy tuna cut roll. 1.5 dollar sake bombs. 6 piece Baked mussels- 5 dollars. Monday-Thursday 3-6pm.

I live in Sherman Oaks and I agree there is a surprising amount of talent walking around the valley. Every time I go to the sherman oaks fashion square for whatever I always end up doing an approach or 2.

As far as bars and nightlife - there are a couple decent places but otherwise the crowds usually suck. The only place i've found to be consistently good is the laurel tavern, like you guys said. I think its arguably the best meat market in the valley.

The other good place I've come to really love is the Brickyard Pub on magnolia and lankershim. Its down the street from Federal Bar (which i hate). Brickyard has cheap pool in the back and an amazing selection of beers (bottles only though). The bartenders are all really fuckable girls and its become somewhat of a watering hole in the valley in a relatively short amount of time. I fucked one girl i met from Colorado there. Have been on dates with others.

Federal Bar has either a gay crowd (lots of gay folks in north hollywood) or a really trashy low class hip-hop kind of crowd. It's weird.

Usually i'll start a night at Brickyard and have a couple beers and then if i don't have any good leads ill head down to laurel tavern.

Sol y Luna is more of a restaurant - and an excellent one. Casa Vega is more of a meat market but the bar there is really small, because its more of a restaurant (which I love).

Theres also a place right next to Brickyard called Bow and Truss which is a kind of pricey restaurant with a cool indoor/outdoor bar area. Should be fun this summer.

Was in LA for a few days.

I stayed at a Howard Johnson's in Koreatown. I probably should have tried to book a better place, but oh well.

First day checked out a sweet restaurant called Señor Fish. There's a bar in the back. I got the sense that it was mostly locals.

Day after me and my buddy went and saw the chili peppers play the fonda theatre. Across from the venue we found some hole in the wall Middle Eastern joint that had some kick ass lamb before the show.

Gambled a little bit at Commerce. Casino is a bit of a shit hole and it seems like everyone there is miserable.

Checked out Venice Beach two of the nights we were there. It was pretty dead for the most part and a bit of a sausage fest.

On my last day I did the tourist shit and went and wandered around Griffith Park. This seems like it could be great for day game. Good luck working the logistics, though.

I was there during the week. I get the sense that everyone just sticks to working during the week, but I could be wrong.

Overall, I think LA is a decent place to visit. The food is good, lots of great music. But I didn't really see any of the California Girls ya'll are famous for. And you could use a subway system.

Beverly Hills also has lots of talent walking around during the day (in fact, Beverly Hills is one of my favorite places to people watch). Runyon Canyon also has plenty of decent women working out during the day. The thing about LA is you kind of have to know where to find the hot chicks. LA is so big that if you just wander around aimlessly for a few days during a visit, then you will probably not run into that many of them.

That said, LA is a bit overrated for that reason. It is not like everywhere in LA is brimming with hot chicks...but this point has already been made over and over on this thread, so I will leave it at that.

The most stereotypically "California" of all places in terms of beachy blonde girls frollicking around is Orange County.

Laguna Beach, Newport Beach on a Saturday has tons of talent walking around.

I went to Pacific festival last year at the newport marina and I saw so many fuckable girls it was insane.

If you're not gonna go there though, you're best bet to see attractive women is Santa Monica/Venice, Brentwood, or West Hollywood.

I was born in downtown L.A., raised just a few blocks south of downtown. In fact you could see the hospital from the house I lived in. Was raised in and out of L.A. and in Latin America. For those of you familiar with the city my neighborhood's school progression was Norwood-John Adams-Belmont. I don't live in CA anymore, but I do go there often. I do have an out of state associate (non-magician) membership to the Magic Castle since it was mentioned in this thread. Good place to take the ladies.

There's lots to do in L.A. For another date venue, check out El Cid in the Silver Lake area on Sunset Blvd. Good Flamenco show. It's a dinner theater.
