For the price I can buy timber for, pallets we get go straight on the bonfire if we don't need em round the yard. Imported Scandinavian timber is dirt cheap here. If I got my guys to pull pallets apart their labour would cost more than the timber could be bought for.

I've used your techniques as well, especially with some of the larger pallets that are nailed tight. Sometimes I have to cut through the nails just to take them apart. The Deck Demon doesn't work as well on them unless I go insanely slow and am careful about it.

Where I work, we get a ton of shipments, but it's a small town, so if the pallets aren't 48X40 they won't take them. Most of ours aren't, so I'm stuck with a ton of pallets. Since I only do about 3-4 hours of work a day, I spend a lot of time thinking up projects and building shit. I'm about to start monetizing it. Looking at Pinterest, gay as it may sound, has given me plenty of ideas. And people are selling stuff they've built at solid prices. I can build a wine rack from pallet wood in less than an hour. Sand it down, then stain it, and people will throw you $50-60 for it. Not a bad way to earn some pretty easy money.

Working on the house, and have a lot of the first level stuff done. I've been considering options for the upstairs bathroom, as the grout looks pretty crappy. What should be white is a dingy tan kind of color. I tried a fuckton of different store bought solutions, and they all had minimal, if any, results.

After Googling 'homemade grout cleaner' and the like, I remembered the ACV thread here. Lots of health benefits, and it also cleared up a wart on one of my kid's toes in just over a day. So I figure, why not try a little ACV on the grout and see what happens. Poured maybe a capful on the floor on the tub side (near the shower curtain), and took a scrub brush to it a couple minutes later..

The upstairs (kids) bathroom grout, the bottom section has been ACV treated:



There's a few small spots where I need to replace the grout. Once that's done, I'll clean, rinse, and seal it.

But it sure as hell beats replacing the entire floor.

Son came to me with a basketball that kept losing pressure.

Taught him how to check for air (and more importantly gas) leaks using a spray bottle filled with water and detergent. It's getting harder to impress him but that one still ticked the box for "dad magic".

Not really a manly thing I did today, but over 6 months.

I hiked 2200 miles across the North American wilderness, sleeping in my hammock wherever I wished.
Many close brushes with rattlesnakes and much swearing at bears.

Fixed up my Mum's damaged kitchen sink faucet handle. Pretty simple repair really but it beats seeing her and my sister getting frustrated at not knowing what to do.

Nah quit my job. It's cheap living in the bush, the whole thing including intercontinental return flight/local flights and gear cost $6000.

Just babysat my nephews for a few hours. Got the younger one to bed and I got to talk to the older one about game and women, he is only 6 but teach 'em young, right? The kid has a good head on his shoulder and can game like a natural.

That is badass, did you thru-hike the AT?

I am a very casual hiker, mostly day hikes, one 4-day trip through the Grand Canyon. Some short hikes on the AT and CDT and hearing stories about long distance hiking have got me daydreaming about taking a long walk. I'm looking at doing the John Muir Trail in Aug/Sep which would only be 3 weeks/210 miles but still quite the challenge for a novice like myself.

If you feel like typing out some words and starting a thread here I'm sure there are some guys who would appreciate hearing about your adventure.

Asked my family for one gift this year: a juicer.

Now that the holiday craze is over I've gotten around to assemble the thing, read the instructions and have made my first fruit/vegetable juice.

I'm following the recipes from Mike Cernovich's book Juice Power (can't seem to find the book on Amazon anymore, odd) and his site Fit Juice.

Made a glass out of carrots, apples, oranges and a teaspoon of ginger.

Tasted really good!

yesterday- went and did some shooting with a buddy of mine- he had this thing customized. fun as hell.



today- gym after work and then take care of a few odds and ends- food prep, shoe repair, simple shit really but always feels good keeping things in order.
