Just came home from a good lifting session with my girlfriend, yesterday I posted my first Datasheet about Enthusiasm! Now I'm making a PDF version.

Feels awesome to complete a side project.

Aced an exam in med school and now it's back to the drawing board to see what else I can do.

Every day is a good day if you make it so. This is what I've learned from you guys.

It's not much, but I did 3 miles on the elliptical, 3 sets of 50 crunches, 3 sets of 50 knuckle pushups, and a little punching bag work. All topped off with a protein shake. Also finished a good chunk of homework.

I've had a debilitating turf toe injury for months that has kept me from doing regular taekwondo workouts and sparring. It has been quite discouraging, but instead of continuing to feel sorry for myself and letting my body get weak, I've decided I'll make the most of what I can and focus on developing other parts of my body that I've neglected. Also aiming to improve my overall appearance.

Went boxing, got punched in the face a few times and then got even.

Tenant's boiler stopped working. Ended replacing an automatic damper, thermal-couple, and that the safety sensor that blows if you get a backdraft (forget what its called).

Boiler still didn't work right.. flame came out the bottom. Turns out the boiler sucked in a ton of crap at some points. Spent over an hour cleaning out the heat exchanger, blasting out a ton of black soot. I looked like an 18th century chimney sweep when finished. I was almost black head to toe.

Took forever to get the boiler back together. The older Crown Aruba boilers are a bitch when it comes to re-assembling the burners.

Boiler up and running, tenant has heat and hot water. Tenant is happy.

Combining a couple day's event:

-Goal setting: Getting back into cardio and lifting, ran two days back to back which I haven't done in years. Not for very long, but about 45 min outdoor interval-type jogging/sprinting. Slept well, felt energized upon waking, nutrition and diet on point. Feel that good drained / happy feeling from really exerting myself. I could spring longer and harder the second day. Seeing slow progress with definition returning to my abs. My goal is to get 'Hollywood physique' like the video someone posted.

-Masculinity moment Thursday: I'm in northern CA / SF area and surrounded by lots of whiners. After playing neutral to a couple comments assuming I was in 'mourning' (quite the opposite), I resolved to swing at the next at bat. Getting natural pastrami, tea, and coffee at WF (love the synergy of theanine and caffeine) I was asked by a short Hispanic woman if I could get some beer from the cooler's top shelf.

(laughed) 'Mmmm, okay, which one?'

'The Devil's Canyon blah blah. It's for my husband. He's feeling kind of down, finished half a six pack last night after the election...'

Curveball right over the plate.

'Oh, poor guy. Guess he voted for the wrong person. Have a good day!'

Her eyes went wide like I'd turned into a polar bear. Casually sauntered away wearing my Trump smirk. Damn, that felt good!

A minute later saw her in line as I went to the coffee bar. She caught my glance and quickly looked away. Smirk 2.0.

I've had a storm window that's been problematic, the lower piece separated from the rest of the frame. It's an odd size, a new storm window, complete, was around $60-$70. So a while back I rigged it with a couple of screws, and it worked for a while.

Yesterday the glass came down and cracked in a few places.

I had a choice between replacing the glass or replacing the entire storm window. After doing some online shopping, I found the correct size at Lowes on clearance for $9.55, marked down from $65.

Yesterday I removed the old one, cleaned everything up, caulked, and installed the new one. No trimming of the sheet metal, the new one fit perfectly.

While I felt that the above was manly enough for this thread, I want to add the aftermath:

As I started to climb off the ladder, my daughter came out to tell me about a problem in the house.

"Daddy, I'm trying to get.."
"Is anyone hurt or is the house on fire ?"
"Well, no, but the wifi isn't working.."
"Ok... C'mere, I'm going to explain something to you. And I want you to remember this for when you're older."

"(Daughter), have you ever heard the expression, 'you catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar' ?"
"Yes."

"Ok.. When a man is doing a project, whether it be something like this (pointing to the window), or working on the car, or fixing the plumbing, or doing yardwork.."
"Or painting the spare room ?"
"Yes, stuff like that. When a man is doing a project, and he's done, give him at least five minutes to stand back to admire the fruit of his labor. Let him enjoy what he's accomplished."
"Ok."
"Now, about the honey and vinegar reference ? If you need him to do something else.. When he's standing there admiring the results of his hard work, bring him his favorite drink, tell him what you think of what he's done, and then ask him if he can take care of ______ when he gets a chance."
"Ok."

She goes back in the house, and I start packing up my tools. Plug the caulk gun, put the drill back in the garage, fold up the ladder and hang it back up, and then I go out to the window to give it a final inspection, admire my handiwork, and smoke a cigarette.

With that, my daughter comes out with a can of soda. She walks over, hands it to me, and says, "The window looks nice, Daddy."
"Thank you, (nickname)."
"When you get a minute, the wifi stopped working. Can you fix it ?"
"Yes, I'll finish my cigarette and I'll be in."
"Ok."

She'll make someone a good wife someday.

Went to the range. Left the paper targets in the box. Lugged out all the metal targets.

Did some "money no object" shooting.

Talked "crooked Hillary, God Emperor Trump" with a bunch of guys I hadn't seen since before the elections. Every last one of them was as enthusiastic as me about the win.

I consider myself a Christian and yet I've never actually read the Bible from cover to cover before.

SAD.

Shout-outs to Samseau, Dr. Howard, Zelcorpion and scorpion for their insightful comments about the Holy Scriptures which made me realize that I have no right to call myself a pathfinder upon God’s Way until I genuinely study the sacred texts which show the course I profess myself taking.

Honestly though I had a really tough time reading the Bible because it’s not the easiest of texts to read after study filled day.

But I was adamant not to give up.

I’ve come across Audible from Amazon and have fallen in love with it since it offers quality Audiobooks for modest prices with its Credit system.

Since the time I’ve made a subscription I’ve listened to the autobiography of Benjamin Franklin and have listened through whole Old Testament and am currently at the Gospel of Luke.

I don’t know what it is and will not claim to be a born again Christian but ever since I started listening to the Bible I’ve become a whole lot calmer.

He who says that the Bible offers nothing for a man is simply ignorant. I’ve hit the rewind button many times just to hear certain verses again, again and again in order to memorize them by heart for they contain so much worldly wisdom it is almost impossible to think that Men eons ago were so much wiser than the so called ‘Intellectual elite’ within their Ivory Tower of today.

Here are some of my favorite passages:

Got a big doe (whitetail). Not a great first shot, broke her shoulder and hit one lung--I didn't compensate well for a downward angle shot--and I had to track her all over hell and gone. I spooked her out of cover at least six times in rough brushy forest before I finally had a shot, then I hit her on the run with a decent snap shot through her lungs which put her on the ground, and I put a round through her heart when I saw she was still trying to breathe.

Deer sure are tough; I was using 180 grain 308 Winchester bonded soft points, and one of those to the chest would take the fight out of just about any human if it didn't kill him outright.

She'll dress out to at least 50 pounds of good venison, and it might be 60 pounds. Biggest doe I've shot so far. If I can get a buck next weekend, it'll make up for coming up dry last year.

I'll be seeing if some of the old hunting myths about what negatively affects meat quality hold up, since not only did I have to chase the goddamn doe for over an hour (supposedly the longer the deer stays alive after being wounded, the gamier the meat gets because of adrenaline) but she was still lactating a bit (supposedly also bad for the meat quality). I think the meat will be just fine at worst, and since she was eating a lot of yellow corn from a feeder somewhere I'm expecting the meat to be quite good. If not, well, there's always sausage to be made.

I also damn near passed out climbing back up a ravine to get helpers to recover the deer, and my whole body is sore as hell now. It might be time to start doing cardio again.

In my area, does are a no-no.
I didn't do this today, but I made some furniture out of post hunt antlers. Made out of 5 antlers, cheap-o light fixture kits, pieces of trees, and some ok-looking shades, produced 3 table lamps and 2 sconces. Want pics?
This weekend been chasing carburetor gremlins, might bite the bullet and rebuild, but I'm hoping it's something else (don't want the problem after the rebuild).
