What % have heard of game?
In his second to last blog post, Roosh wrote, "Every single man in his 20s has heard of game and is familiar with its most basic tenets."

Probably from his perspective that is true, as Roosh presumably mostly associates with other alphas and PUA's.

However, I live in a place that's full of yuppies, and I would estimate game penetration at no more than 25% at the very maximum. Furthermore, that only refers to males familiar with the concept; the percentage of them who actually use it is more like 5%, maybe 10% at most.

I would also note that while the manosphere is indeed big, and The Game is a phenomenally successful book, it is not my impression that the concept of "game" itself has made a mass breakout into popular culture. Which is of course a good thing.

What is your impression? Or are my lowball estimates the result of moving in a hopelessly beta social circle?

PS. Apologies in advance if this topic has already been discussed. I was unable to find similar threads with the Search function.

RE: What % have heard of game?
My view is that hearing about game, knowing some game, and being good at game are all very different things. A lot of guys have heard of game in some capacity or another, I venture to guess. A smaller percentage knows some elementary aspects of game ("wait at least two days to text a girl). A tiny subset is good at it.

It really all depends on what you call "game," though. I use a broad definition that doesn't just include "PUA-style" or manosphere shit.

Game itself isn't penetrating, but buzzwords are.

Alpha/beta terms and 'dating tips' are all over the net. But sports are watched by billions of people, despite only a fraction of that number being competitors.

RE: What % have heard of game?
I agree with Tuth. There are different levels of acknowledgment and implementation of game. Even girls know about game. Last night for example, when we were about to talk to some girls, they literally said "let me guess, do I floss before or after I brush?" So there is implementation of game all around. Another set of girls told me this guy was creepy because as soon as they started talking he put his hand on her hip. Of course I agreed with them just to keep talking, but you realize there are lots of guys out there doing the same thing.

Myself, I went from not knowing anything, to Swingers level game (3 days), to reading the Game and for the first time realizing such things exist, to actually learning and practicing it now.

A friend of mine is an example. He's good with girls, mostly because he's tall, has his shit together and is fun to talk to. He knows DeAngelo, he knows Mystery, he's even read some of their articles or books. But he just won't - ever - approach a girl. He even told me that he's impressed I do it, and that he never could.

So yeah, even if every guy in his 20s heard about it, knowing and applying are two very different things.

How does he get girls without approaching?

Social Circle, work, he gets approached.
He's in a relationship now though.

RE: What % have heard of game?
Because game is so much a part of our lives, we players tend to overestimate the extent to which game concepts have penetrated society. We think "well almost every guy knows this or does that" since it's so second nature to us but the truth is- they don't.

I would say the majority of guys have heard of game, but only in the sense that they have heard of some consumer product or current event. They don't really know much about it, much less practice it.

I estimate that less than 15% max of guys put any game concepts into actual practice on a regular basis. Maybe 5% have a good skill set.

When i go out i do a lot of observing of male/female interactions. I'll give you an example from last night-i went to a live music/dance club that was packed with lots of good looking girls. These girls are here on vacation at my beach town and they are looking to have a good time, get drunk and fuck. A guy could hardly ask for a better environment for pickup. Yet, I saw lots of decent looking guys just standing around for hours, drinking, talking to each other and never approaching girls who were giving out all sorts of "approach me" signals. I'm sure less than 25% of these guys did even a single cold approach. I did 7 approaches and hooked up with a girl for a makeout/number close.

If you have done 100 cold approaches, you have done more cold approaches than most guys will do in their entire life.

I am not concerned at all about the overpenetration of game making game ineffective.

I think Roosh is right in that people have at least heard of Style/Mystery style game because of the book and the tv shows.

I just don't think that many people get it.

Regular guys don't get it.
Noobs don't get it.
Guys that grab a little bit and leave don't get it.
Girls don't really get it...

Maybe it's better that way though. The seducer's dilemma is some real shit, and I wish I could turn back time to when I didn't see every chick as disposable.

RE: What % have heard of game?
Aside from a few friends of mine that I have showed game stuff to, nobody I know is familiar with game.

Pretty sure it's an age thing (and some Midwest insularity). When Mystery/Strauss were making waves, people around 23 and below were still in junior high and high school. It will be interesting to see if this trends upwards as my friends get older.

RE: What % have heard of game?
Guys have heard about "The Game". You can still find a lot of copies of it and "The Rules of the Game" in major bookstores (that haven't closed down yet. VERY few know about real Game however. The average man's game is no better than it was a decade ago. "Manosphere" guys are a drop in the ocean of natural players, and probably always will be.

RE: What % have heard of game?
game always recognises game.

i rarely see guys competing with me over a pool of the hottest girls in the room. i remember this one french guy who always went for the same girl as me (saw him three times in bangkok) and he was very natural yet calculating like me.

that's about it. there's a handful of PUA guys in my city who are actually good but no more than say 10-15.

the number of people that i see with game are very few.

as to how many have heard about it, i'm not sure.
