RE: A husband who prizes your looks, not your mind is the key to a happy marriage
Don't be so quick to dismiss her. She spits PURE truth in this piece, covering many of the issues that we've discussed here with regards to the dynamic between men and women in relationships and where they go wrong. We don't have to agree with her assessment of her own looks - it only matters that her husband thinks she's beautiful. In particular, her honesty about her resentment towards her first husband, when SHE was the breadwinner was telling. Women want the benefits of making a big salary, but don't want the responsibilities that come with being the breadwinner. Women see the money they make as THEIRS, and would rather make less than feel like they're carrying a man. This way, she gets everything she wants, still makes a little money on the side, and her job becomes making her man happy, which really isn't that hard if you want to do it. Bravo to her.
"The best kind of pride is that which compels a man to do his best when no one is watching."

RE: A husband who prizes your looks, not your mind is the key to a happy marriage
Quote:I don’t make the mistake of suffering from headaches when I’m between the sheets or feign sleepiness when my husband makes amorous advances. In the kitchen, I put on my apron and prepare Pascal a home-cooked meal twice a day, every day. I wouldn’t dream of serving him up something out of a packet.
Each afternoon, before his siesta, I massage his head and shoulders with lavender oil. When he arrives home in the evening, I greet him with an aperitif. Having been married before, we both know about modern relationships — shouty, stressed wives trying (and failing) to do it all, husbands who stay out all hours to avoid the messy domestic scene at home, only convenience food on the table and growing resentment destroying the relationship.
Maybe I'm just getting old...But that doesn't sound so bad.

Her previous stuff aside - that is gold. You can guarantee that is one happy husband. I think as guys we're pretty simple creatures in this regard. If our basic needs for food and sex are met and we feel liked we are being looked after. The girl will be rewarded and taken care of. I honestly don't think it's a difficult equation.
I despair of any woman who says 'I can't figure men out.' Really?

I expect this or they get the universal remote shoved in all the way before I send them packing. Needless to say I've gone thru more remotes than saucepans at my house.

My goodness, that sounds excellent. I would not even care if my wife loved me if she'd treat me that well and respect my lifestyle. I'd probably get one-itis after a fashion.

True that. I'd treat most any attractive woman very well if she was that dependable.
I would say that the author of this article found a gold mine in that French dude. She's in her 30s and happily remarried, which is not common at all.
