Girlfriends sap your emotional and mental energy. They always want, want, want from you. You're practically obligated to care about their needs, and have to factor them into just about everything. Great move on his part. They're always going to put their wants and needs over yours, so rather than do battle, cut 'em loose. I'm a big believer that athletes shouldn't marry, or even have long-term steadies while they are competing. They shouldn't bother with that until they're retired.

I read something, I forget where, that said more or less the Olympic village is a total bangfest among athletes. Imagine thousands of young people in the peak shape of their life basically imprisoned in a village for security reasons. Many athletes finish up within the first week or two and spend the next couple of weeks soaking in their achievements. They've trained for years for this moment and now have some time off after their event for guilt free rebelliousness. Seems like a great spot to pick up some flags!

I read the entrance of each hall where the athletes stay is stocked with condoms as well. Let the countdown begin until some troll posts a thread asking how to train for the Olympics so they can get bangs.

The overwhelming majority of athletes that go to the Olympics aren't medal hopefuls. They're done in the preliminary stages of whatever sport they participate in. For some of them, their events don't start until the second week, so yeah, they have lots of time on their hands and are meeting and hanging out with athletes from around the world.
