The other side of the equation can change too, as in a guy can lose a bunch of weight or change styles and become more attractive, become more interesting, become famous, etc.

IME it is fairly common for chicks to go after guys they have already rejected. The main example being old high school or college friends who have lost touch, only to see each other again later in life when one or both have changed.
