At q bar last night an oddly dressed blond actually walked in around 1 am and me and some guy from south africa were actually arguing about whether it was a lady boy or not and he said it looked like lady gaga. Well, the 19 year old I was supposed to meet last night had something come up last minute. Although I did not get to meet her, I ended up going to khao san and picking up what I think is a semi-pro and taking her to insomnia. Another interesting thing that happened though is that at insomnia a pretty wealthy older women 35-40 (not bad looking actually) was all over me. I had a few beers last night and around midnight contemplated walking down to kowsan and going to The Club to see if there was any Thai girls to be picked up but I couldn't be bothered in the end, was really tired. I did not spend much money on her at all actually. She paid her own entrance into the club, and I think I maybe bought her one drink. In the morning she did not even ask for taxi money, but I did offer and gave her 300 bht.

I guess the biggest difference for me between spicy and insomnia is just that Spicy is a lot seedier. Its in a pretty gross area, is a pretty gross building etc. Insomnia just seems a lot nicer. Also the one time I was at spicy the girls seemed like obvious whores - not really high class at all. At least in insomnia if they are whores they do not really look like it (ive had nicely dressed girls that I could have easily confused for a college chick tell me they cost money for the night - i just go to the next girl). Apart from the sex tourists, which I'm sure are in abundance at Insomnia also, I don't find Spicy that seedy. The club it's self inside is OK since it's been done up, much nicer than it was a couple of years back. The area is fine, it's not all that run down. I've walked out of Spicy and went wandering before, nothing dodgy about the area. I took a mate to Spicy who has lived in BKK for over a year (and been coming here on and off for years) because he'd never been (he hadn't seen any of the 'naughty' side of BKK actually, no Soi Cowboy, Nana Plaza, Patpong, bar girl places, after hour clubs etc) and he expected the worse but was pleasantly surprised at how normal a place Spicy was bar the pros and sex tourists, it's not like it's dangerous or anything. I know Insomnia was built more as a super club type place with high tech sound system and lasers but from everything I've heard it's just the same as Spicy, Climax and any of the other after hour places frequented by working girls. A few locals and farang told me it was the worst of them all (in terms of being filled with pros), that's why I've never bothered to go.

You definitely don't go to Spicy to find high class chicks, you don't go to any of these types of places to find high class. A whore is a whore no matter how she is dressed so that doesn't matter to me. I'd rather know she's a whore straight up so I don't have to bother speaking to her (sometimes for ages) just to get the truth.

If you can look beyond the pros, Insomnia as a club is actually pretty damn good. They have some superb hardware.

I went there for the last DARE Fighting Championship because my friend was fighting. The sound system and lighting were killer. The whole atmosphere was off the hook. I couldn't believe how awesome everything seemed being there. A dark, smoke filled nightclub with a killer sound system and light show for an MMA event in Bangkok. Was a pretty fun time.

Yes, I think I may have been to that bar too - the stairs are the same and it also had the live bands and what not. Ironically a Thai friendly date took me there also. It is pretty cool and laid back. When I went though there were a few tables of foreigners so maybe it was different.

Last night was also pretty interesting. I went out with my thai friends and they introduced me to some pretty cool thai rapper and his entourage. We went to demo and safehouse and we all got pretty shitfaced. Overall, I did get two numbers so it wasn't a total fail but this experience just reminded me how much harder it is to open up and pull chicks as a foreigner in these places. After my friends left safehouse as they were too drunk, I decided to once again try my luck at insomnia. I met one chick there but honestly I was not feeling that well and said I wanted to get food. Unfortunately her friend was still there alone and she left with us (they paid there share for the food though thankfully).

Seriously, how dumb do some of those girls think we are?!?! But ya the girls I left with work at a massage parlor so they were atleast sem-pros possibly full blown prostitutes. When I was there the ratio was not too good and no-where near like what you said (was it a weekday when you went by chance?). There were a load of dudes there when I went and contrary to what you would think the majority of them were actually younger and good looking guys too - definitely a buyers market for the chicks there last night. I've no idea what day of the week I went, haven't been there in a couple of months. The reason there's so many young, seemingly decent looking guys, there is because the majority of people who come to Thailand think that ALL Thai girls are hookers and if you want sex you HAVE to pay for it. I hear it from people all the time, both out here and from people I meet back home or on travels who have been here before that you can't have sex with a Thai girl unless you pay for it. I try and tell them it's perfectly possible but they don't buy it. They spend all their time in the tourist bars and clubs that are filled with bar girls and hookers or just hanging out with other backpackers on Kowsan and being propositioned by hookers in the street and come to the conclusion that all girls out here are whores after money. They don't meet any normal girls or to go normal places where thai people go so have no experience of it.

There's a guy I know, male model and considered pretty good looking also tall and well built. When travelling round South America with him he was banging all the time both tourists & locals, had no trouble hooking up with chicks in Argentina whilst everyone else struggled, pulling off threesomes and all sorts yet when we started talking about Thailand he said he didn't get laid once. I couldn't understand why as on my last trip I pulled quite a few girls (not near the level of this trip though) without much effort and he said because he wasn't willing to pay for it and all Thai girls are whores. If you don't get away from certain areas, improve your chances by using social networking / dating sites, chat up girls in the street and at malls, collect numbers and do dates etc and only rely on these tourist clubs it would be very easy to think that Thailand is just one big whore house.

yeah weird isnt it. I think the conservative nature and the language barrier can be factors and give the illusion that good girls are difficult, wont sleep with u, etc. Actually once you push past shyness and find some way to actually communicate, they are usually laughably easy to hook up with. And then want you to be their longterm BF after one night. But I can see how you could get the impression that thailand is hard actually. I had a final night out before going home tomorrow with some mates. We ate food and then started to drink about 6pm. Drank shit loads of beer, hit Rooftop bar on kowsan, drank several buckets and ended up in The Club. The ratios were dreadful, maybe 80% guys. When we first went in it was dead, basically only us and a handful of girls. Things were going great with some korean chicks but soon as it got busy and all the guys came in it just turned into a massive waste of time. There were 10 guys competing for every 1 girl. You'd be dancing with a chick and if you took your eye off her for a second she'd be swooped by someone else. I lost track of the amount of times I was getting on well with a girl only to lose focus (far too drunk) and turn round to find her with another guy. I don't know why I spent so much time on the dance floor as I hate dancing and it's not my strong point, I should have been focusing on speaking to girls at the bar or sitting down. Ended up outside hitting on a girl who owned a food stall but I can't even remember what happened as I was so drunk, don't remember going home but woke up alone.

Jeez sounds like a crazy night. I actually went to the club also and I had the same oberservations. For some reason the ratio was worse than usual. I did get two number though. One is cute, wealthy college student but also very clingy. Also she was not much fun either - she was very quiet didn't like dancing and was not really down for me advancing - she told me she does not go out a lot. Further she kept on trying to talk about her ex-boyfriend which is the last thing I wanted to talk about - although in an ironic sort of way it was pretty funny. Also tonight, leaving my condo, I saw what may have been the most attractive girl I have seen in thailand. This model near perfect looking asian (thai I think - but very light skinned so maybe a mix of something) and I started talking to her. At first I thought she may just be a Hiso girl that lived there but unfortunately I found that to be false. After asking her about her job, she admitted she is an escort. Just for kicks I asked her what her price is and she said 5000 bht for short time! Crazy.

The place is just not good, dreadful clientele and music. The amount of farang hunters far outweighs the amount of farang guys so odds are not in your favour. Add into the mix that some of the girls are pros it's slim pickings. Maybe on a Friday or Saturday the ratios are a bit better because there will be more Thais out but doesn't seem worth it otherwise. I guess you can go after the backpacker girls but they don't really appeal to me, too badly dressed and no effort in their appearance.

I didn't put much effort in the last week or so to meet girls or go on dates but the couple nights I did want to I had no luck in getting anyone out aside from regular girls, then both yesterday and today I've had a ton of texts from girls asking to meet up this week. I leave tomorrow. Typical.

I found the perfect date spot when it's too late to use it. Swensens. Every girl loves ice cream, Swensens is considered quite expensive for a lot of Thais (it's not really that expensive) and they see it as a nice treat. If I was to be here any longer I'd stop doing dinner dates and just take girls to Swensens then go for cocktails afterwards, found a place that does buy one get on free on Saturday night right beside my local Swensens. Oh and the ice cream sundays are amazing. I'd never been to Swensens in my life until Saturday.

When I think of backpacker girls the first thing that comes to my mind is harry pussies that probably taste like shit. 99% of them really can not compare to Thai girls in any way.

Why hairy pussies? Just because they're travelling for a while and probably haven't waxed?

I struggle to find them attractive when I'm out here, the Thai girls are just so much more appealing for me. White girls barely even register on my radar when in Asia.

I was half serious, but their daily hygiene routine does go out the window for a lot of them. Don't brush their hair much, no/little makeup, shorts and a tank tops all day, don't shave their legs often. Hostel chicks are gnarly.

one of my thai gfs has come down to melbourne to work for 6 months. i let her stay for a few nights.
during that time she:
- cleans my room and bathroom
- cooks thai dishes for everyone in the house / washes the dishes
- sews my blazer sleeve back together
- massages my back
- gives my female housemate a manicure and paints her nails
in sum, adds considerable value.

i'm back in bangkok this july for a few weeks. would be good to catch up with some of you guys.
