Doha Qatar mini report
Folks typing from my iPad ( which sucks for typing long spiels) and will share more info as I come across it.
Firstly if you are here to chase tail I would recommend that you think twice. Doha is good for getting work experience and saving some cash ( well if you can do that) as it can be quite expensive.
Heres the lowdown,,,,
Weather- it gets in the mid 50s in the summer. For my American friends That is over 130 Fahrenheit. It's the desert, but it's on the Arabian sea. It's not as dry as people will think. When it's the summer, autumn seasons it gets ridiculously humid. Coupled with the heat is quite uncomfortable to be outside. In the winter a light jacket is needed at night, but a t shirt and jeans can do fine.
Nightclubs and bars - they are not stand alone. They are in hotels, much like in las Vegas. Some bars do have happy hours where drinks range in the $10usd range. Now regular hours you are looking at $15-$20 for a drink.
Fr the nightclubs you will have to become a member of each one if you want to go Which will set you back more money. Each hotel that has a nightclub will have their own membership prices. Somewhere in the $20-$30usd range. Then you have to pay a cover which will set you back another $10-$20 usd.
The nightclubs are a huge sausage fest. Depends which club you go to, you will find ones that will have more Arabs, western expats, Filipinos etc.
La Cigale on thursdays caters to the Arabs and expats. There is a sky view bar which doesn't require membership, but is quite $$$$$. The setup is all tables and chairs. Hard to mingle as its mixed sets.
Other hotels, W hotel, intercontinental etc all have nightclubs but I couldnt even bother going.
Latin night at the sharq village has the best ratio of women to men. Of course typical of the salsa scene, it's 80 percent the same people. Salseras and salseros all know each other. My salsa is intermediate at best!!!! So, kinda hard to dance as
salseras can be snobby cunts. I don't blame them, but ow the hell can a guy get good if he has nobody to dance and get better with. Which begs the question
how the hell do men get good at it, if salseras won't dance with beginners etc? Catch 22.
Anyhow, about 3 weeks ago I went, and spoke to one of the promoters there, and
she said the next night the have lessons. I'm like great. I'm there. So, next night comes along, and I arrived early. I see that an advanced class is there and notice a few faces from the night before. Decent ratio of females. So, I decide to stay
longer, and watch a beginner class to see if I should be pegged at that level. Well, luckily I am not. So, an hour later the intermediate class comes, in comes one guy, 2 , 3, 4, and the fifth guy and no females except the instructor. I'm like wtf!!!! Beforehand I'm thinking gonna meet people ( girls) and expand my social circle living here. Them the lesson starts. I see 5 guys standing and watching. 1 dances w the instructor and the others dance alone. Looks odd. 2 guys started dancing together, I'm like this ain't for me. Had there been ladies, I would have started but 1/5 th of the time with an instructor holds no $ value. I will wait till Cuba this summer for lessons. Anyways, point is I wante d to meet chicks, and dance salsa but it paints the picture how dry it is without females. Yes, there are females ,but not many.
My tip, learn salsa before you go to another country. If ther eis a Latin night you will be in luck and expand your social circle, and meet chicks at the same time. This is one regretof mine. This hold true especially for here, as the cockfest in other bars ain't worh it.
Women- you can meet women from all over the world here. Of course, ther won't be many. I find that it's very cliquish and certain groups don't mix with others etc. you can probably read between the lines here, so I won't babble on here.
Local women- They are covered head to toe in an abaya. It's the black robe that you may have seen on tv. They carry their big designer handbags ( not the little ones ha you may see in the west mostly). But the oversized ones. Hey wear those big Jackie Onassis type of designer sunglasses and typical of Arab women, they wear wayyyyy too much makeup. Reminds me of wiping the sweat off of my face and with my hand flicking the sweat off. The same you can probably do with the makeup on their faces.
Have I seen them in western clothes? Yes. I may have in a club last week, but a few months ago met one with another friend whos friend was dating her. If you want to know how they look, they look like some light skin Pakistan, Indians and Arabs without any light features. No blue eyed qataris here.
Is it allowed to talk to them. Yes, in a professional environment only. If they cry foul and want to be cruel, they can tell the authorities and you will be on the next plane out. This I have heard, but rhink it's bs.
Would I love to taste the forbidden fruit? Which guy wouldn't?!?!?!
Do the local women get laid outside of being married? Yes, but I am not in that social circle to know for sure. However, I met a Moroccan guy today, manager of a restaurant that I was eating out tonight and chatted a little about living here. He came from working in dubai. He dated a Local emirate girl who dressed in western clothes and parents, family were cool with the relationship of 3 years. Long story short, i asked him about the life of the girls in this region and the social dynamics us single people wanna know. He told me that the women in the gulf who have drivers ( most women here have drivers who drive them to do errands, pick up kids etc) do get laid. By guess who? Their drivers. So the Indian guy who drives hem, gets some tail. These women have nannies, cleaners n cooks as this sorta labour is cheap thy all have helpers.
So the driver ( reminds me of that Jude law film), gts a call to one over whilethe husband is away on a business trip. She is bored from doing nothing around in the house. Of course, she is human and has needs. Makes sense so he tells me. Well this I have to see, as it is possible but I dunno. She can't go to th mall and chat up random guys.
As for he non married single women. Well, they walk around with 2 cell phones, constantly texting. If you think Girls are bad for texting, u have seen nothing compared to here. Thy probably have secret relationships going on. Well, for example. If you went to school in mixed cohort after grade 6 they will separate you on sexes. If by chance you have a friend and his sister was in your class nd years later went to his house, you would not be allowed ( expected) to even talk to her. This is one of many reasons why there is a problem socially as there has been inbreeding going on. Cousins marrying cousins. This part of he world, it's quite common. This has had a huge negative result on the genetics of he offspring as one can imagine.
Closure- I rambled a bit. Can you score here yes! Is it a cakewalk, no. As oon as I pay my dues, I'm off to somewhere where the omen show skin, and lots of it!!!
