Hell no. That sounds like the grave, and classic confusion between being a good man, and being weak-pathetic-mick-blindly obedient etc.

Be beta and any girl (definitely pinay girls), or man for that matter, will eat you alive. And what can I say, you're asking for it.

On the other hand being a good and strong man will get you far.

There's also a big difference between being 'hard to get' when you need to (the classic push-pull, carrot and stick etc), and just being a plain asshole. Very big difference.

And it goes further. You also need to know how to fade girls out properly once you're fed up with them. That means without hurting them much and without unnecessary drama.

It should sound something like "yeah we tried but it didn't work out, whatever." - on the girl's side.

Otherwise not only you're leaving a trail of destruction behind you, which any man with a minimal amount of decency wouldn't do, you're also burning the ground for your fellow man (whose advice you used to arrive in the Philippines in the first place), and, most importantly for the more selfish, you'll be making some local enemies.

You'll also be filling your time with negative drama which will hurt your future results.

Cut the crap and do it right. From start to finish.

Another one I have is about how they react to what you said. They seem to take it the wrong way Every single time I tell the something like "sorry I was busy at work" so they understand that I am not ignoring them on purpose, but just did not get to talk. Every single pinays responds with "sorry for disturbing you". You don't want all the pinays thinking they are a disturbance becuase that makes things negative. This annoying thing is so repetitive I have saved a statement I copy and paste every time a pinay says that annoying phrase. "You did not disturb me. I was just telling you what I was doing so you knew why I have not been able to talk."

If I don't reply for 5 minutes a get a message from her saying:
"busy?" or "still there?"
implying annoyance that I am not replying fast enough. All these things get on my nerves!

Anyone else notice the above things happen too frequently?

Oh wow. This would happen to me all the time. Another one along the same lines was "am I interrupting something?". I guess I should stop getting annoyed by this if they are all like that.

(04-07-2015 09:14 PM)Dusty Wrote:   Internet. The Internet is really slow in the Phils. The WiFi in my condo was essentially useless. It seemed like the best Internet was when I was in Starbucks and bought a Globe one hour "load". I used the "load" user name and password on both my phone and laptop and got solid Internet connections. So Globe seems to be the best. I stopped by a Globe store in the mall and they said I could get 30 days unlimited (I think) Globe load. They also said I could buy some type of device for 1,500 pesos to use Globe internet with my laptop (some type of router I guess??). I didn't do it because I only had a couple more days left. Had I known I would have got the whole set up on day 1.

There is free Internet in a lot of places (like Greenbelt mall) but it is slow and logs you out pretty fast if you are not constantly using it. You might want to check your emails after 10 minutes of inactivity and you have to log in again.

I would definitely recommend globe over smart, I had a terrible experience with Smart and basically wasted 1000 peso on a 1 month plan as it turned out the sim card I got was faulty, and their customer service was really bad. Be prepared to spend hours on hold or waiting in the shop, only to have the issue still not fixed.

The device you can buy is a portable wifi hotspot, both globe and smart have this. It's pretty much the same thing some phones can do where you make a portable wifi hotspot, it can be good if you're away from a power source as that can chew through your phone battery really quick. Another reason I would recommend globe is one girl had the smart wifi but half the time it would barely work and she would go and purchase a 1 day internet for her phone which was globe and the internet was a lot better. I think it can depend on the reception in your area, so if you are going to be staying in one place for most of your stay it could be worth testing out both on a 1 day plan before you buy a whole month plan.

Both globe and smart seem to be really slow during peak hours, and both seem to speed up a lot after midnight. I do wonder if they have some kind of traffic limit which slows you down after you have used a certain amount of data, as the smart connection would always seem to be much better come exactly midnight.

I would be interested to hear from the guys living here permanently on the internet situation, if you get your own condo and adsl is it a lot more reliable? One airbnb place I stayed at had sky broadband which was actually slower than mobile broadband some of the time... Huh

Yes just ignore that shiyat! lol everyone in the Philippines seems to act the same way like as if they were manufactured identically. While looks vary, everything else about them all seems to be annoyingly identical. the annoyance responses, the same silly grammar errors in English lol. The trade off you get for the worlds easiest gaming paradise is some annoying stuff that makes you wanna pull your hair out lol

Just to add to the list of annoyances, Christmas and pasalugong and as I kind of touched on earlier, birthdays too. Forget about mentioning Christmas because they forget about religion and go straight for the free gifts from the foreigner. Always saying "don't forget the pasalubong" Geez that gets annoying too after you heard it mentioned anywhere from 12,334 times to 44,789 times a year lol And birthdays are equally as brutal. Don't even show your face on someones birthday or Christmas because you will get bombarded with demands for gifts even if they have only known you in person for minutes lol

rant over phewww!

Simple answer - it depends Laugh But know that the Philippines is always in the running for having the slowest and worst performing networks in Asia that also happen to be the most expensive. I like it here, but this is one of the biggest issues for me and my staff. If you follow the TropicalMBA guys, who also have staff here, you'll hear this issue come up over and over. The Philippines has fallen far behind in most of SEA on this front.

They are attempting to classify the internet as a utility to regulate the telcos more, but yeah, with the level of corruption who knows if that will happen.

It's either PLDT, Globe or Sky for DSL, Fibre or Cable. PLDT offers both DSL and Fibre, but Fibre is only available in certain buildings. Same goes for Globe. You need to check before you move somewhere what ISP is available and what service from that ISP is available.

Quality varies wildly. Fibire is good, like Western standards, but starts at nearly $100. The DSL lines are poor, but it really depends on where you are. Seems strange but it's true. The way PLDT routes date requests is fucked up. For example, if you ping google.com and have your friend ping google.com a mile away it will route those requests differently and you will get different latency speeds. It's extremely frustrating. I'm also convinced local telcos use shit HK intermediary servers.

No one is going to give you a good connection in a rental. You'll get the standard 1 or 2mb DSL I bet. There are probably exceptions, but that's the general rule. If you need to do work and that involves data transfers, VOIP, screen shares, etc, do your homework.

You can check ISP sites for prices...and get pissed about that haha. I use PLDT DSL 5mb and it's ok, but it really depends on the servers you're trying to access. It plays nice with some but not with others. Oh, there's a 1-2 year lock in for service to, but breaking the contract is only like 2000 pesos so no biggie.

For mobile in Manila Globe is better than Smart, but I'm sure there are pockets where Smart is better but from what I've seen Globe is the better choice.

So if I don't have a good connection in my condo rental, I can always go downstairs and walk to the nearest starbucks and it will be better?

No, it will be much worse unless you're the only one on the connection. Even then they only get the 1mb lines I think. I've never been to SB that had good internet here. Maybe others have.

If you want good internet while in a coffee shop tether your phone. You could also buy a 4G UBS stick/portable router and load it, but for a short stay tethering is fine.

Here's what I'd do:

- Bring an unlocked GSM smartphone
- Buy a Globe SIM upon arrival at the airport or next day at Globe shop (in every mall)
- Buy about 1500 peso in load from any Globe store or 7/11. Just ask for Globe load.
- Follow the instructions on the card to load your phone
- Text Supersurf999 to 8888 on Globe to get 30 days internet on your phone. It's 3G and sometimes can be decent. I sometimes work at coffee shops streaming music and working with cloud docs. it's hit or miss but mostly I can get by. I wouldn't expect video calls with it though. I have a 4g stick but get lazy about loading it and usually just tether my phone.
- There is a daily data cap and they will send you a text telling you you've gone over and you've been throttled. Text GS50 for another 250mb that day.
- The extra 500 pesos should be enough for 3-4 weeks for phone calls (avoid calling if if you can, it's expensive), texting, and adding more data to your plan when you go over.

Thanks YardDog. I don't expect to bring my laptop with me, so I won't have anything to tether my phone to. I don't expect to be a heavy data user while I'm there, however... I will only text, skype, check emails, but no voice calls.

Filipinas will still try to get away with as much as they can if they think you are a weak simp. If they smell blood in the water the extended family will mess you up in various ways (financially and socially) too.

Filipinas are also quite unlike other asian girls in my experience that they are pretty quick to show you around to their relatives if they are even somewhat comfortable with you. This is not really a good thing in my opinion. It's better to be incognito and maintain low expectations.

Filipino guys I know are not really beta when they deal with their own women so why should you be?

Real life example of what happens when you act too beta:

Backstory: Filipina 3 who is probably an ex bar girl acts like an entitled bitch with her simp white American husband on 90 day fiance.

Coffee Bean has pretty good internet, but you have to buy their rewards card for like 150 pesos to use it. Well worth it, their internet is usually consistent across all of their locations and tends to be less crowded than Starbucks. And they're overall just better than SB, especially their food.

Also, I'm not sure how it is in Manila, but here there are usually plenty of other less frequented cafes as well. Figaro, Blugre, Green Coffee (which is 24 hours), etc. The internet at all of them is solid as long as it's not packed.

Good call on the SUPERSURF999. These telecom companies are such scam artists and have 50 different promos for the same thing, while hiding the best ones. They really push GOSURF999, which completely sucks.

Supersurf now includes free Viber as well.

Also, for texting, use GOUNLI500, which is unlimited texts to all networks for 30 days. They don't advertise that one at all anymore, but they still honor it.

Maybe a stupid question, but to use GOUNLI500, I need to text GOUNLI500 to 8888 once I get my SIM card?

First SUPERSURF999 then GOUNLI500?

This is my first time switching out SIM cards.

Yes, you need to text it to 8888 just like SuperSurf.

SuperSurf999 is for data - like your IMs, emails, web, etc.

GOUNLI500 is for text.

These are plans that you add to your phone services here. Your SIM will get you a Philippines phone # but you need to 'load' plans onto it.

I really use with my maid or if a girl is out of range so I don't use unlimited text. I use IMs over data for girls almost always. But if you're going to text girls often get that.

The order in which you load these plans won't matter, just text both to 8888 on Globe and it will register you. If you don't want to do this by yourself go to a Globe store and have them do it for you. Just say I want a SIM card, SuperSurf999, gounli500, and about 500 in available credit. Give them 2000 pesos and they should hook it up for you.

To Enigma's point, don't believe them if they say supersurf999 is not available. Do it yourself at that point.

Here's a pic that illustrates how:

Yeah, there are plenty of good cafes around, Starbucks is just constantly packed off the name alone. Their food is awful, their internet is slow, AND they're more expensive.

Coffee Bean (and J. Co?) is about on par price wise, but the others are way cheaper, especially Figaro.

Just thought I would share a major development to all you users out there using filipino cupid. The long delays in updating profiles are now over as of today. Updates to profiles appear instantly. You used to have sometimes ridiculous long wait times for profile updates to go through and they were tedious and annoying those wait times. Well waiting around for hours to see you changes appear online is now a thing of the past. Enjoy instant updating of your profile.

Anyone ever gotten annoyed with sometimes bothering wait times for the profiles to update? I always found that annoying and seeing it get changed to instant updates has been such a relief! This is only from personal observation of the site seeing how this evening the updates went through instantly for the first time in the sites history and I confirmed it by looking at my own profile in search results.

Yes I've learned the same-- say more, establish you like them by meta-communication, give more eye contact and wait for twinkle response showing they feel safe with you, be more circuitous in asking for things so their vague refusal doesn't make them uncomfortable, gradually phase in asking for direct answers.

A girl that has stayed with me for a total of about 5 days has learned when I ask a yes or no question-" Do you want to eat this here?" I'm hoping for a yes or no answer, not "It's a long way to the apartment" lol.

I did this gently, giving her a chance to understand WHY I want fast answers. Now I deadpan "It's a yes or no question" and it's like a joke and she's learned to give me a straight answer.

While we're on the subject of chatting with pinays during our pipelining phase, one thing that gets me is that these girls don't seem to sleep. Like very little, if at all. I'm ending a conversation with a girl saying "good night" and she's off to bed. Then not even 4 hours later, she messages me again saying "good morning" and I'm like did she even sleep?

Just an observation!

If she has a job she may be working 12-15 hours days.

The girls where I stay finish work around 9:30 PM, and start the next day at 6AM. So they go to sleep around 10:30, and wake up at 5:00. They do that 6 days per week for a paycheck which I figure is around $200.

Tough life.

Two of the last girls I dated didn't have running water. One's father cooks with scraps of driftwood he finds on the beach. They don't even have cooking gas or a refrigerator.

The quality of their grooming is incredible given these barriers. One described waking up something like 3 hours before work.

RE: The Philippines thread
I found a few Youtube videos that give some on the ground footage of the two Manila neighborhoods westerners should stay in.

Here's Fort Bonifacio

I did a little day gaming there. I approached one girl who was headed to work. Cute, with good teeth (always check the filipina teeth) around 23, a CPA. She kept calling me "sir" when we were talking (which I found strangely arousing). She still emails me every day. I probably could have gotten the smash, but logistics did not work out.

Here's one of the emails she sent me when I was still there:

Quote:Hi again.

I understand if you don't have Facebook.
I would like to meet you also if I have free time.
You know, you are the first foreign man who approach me and I appreciate it.
Anyway, Do you have any companion while you are here in our country?

I also took a 22 year old from Makati to the Fort for an insta date (I smashed her a couple nights later).

Then this is Makati:

This is where I stayed. This is where the famous Greenbelt malls are located (and Glorietta).

As you can see, these two neighborhoods are very first world. When you venture out of these neighborhoods, you see some heartbreaking third world shit (people living in shacks/slums, deformed people and children begging in the streets, and so on).

Take care of those titties for me.

I thought this book was a fun read about how Filipinas threat weak foreigner men. That dude should be in here, he is hilarious.

Coolest dude on RVF

Y'all are banging some really poor chicks. Huh

You do realize that the local high status guys wouldn't' be caught dead with them and that you'd shame yourself if you took them into a hi-so social circle, right?

Not my rules, I don't agree with it, but if you're more than a sex tourist - that's not a good look. Confused

It's really funny because a rich pinoy guy would LTR a 5/10 rich girl before he banged a 8/10 poor girl.

I'm not rich and I'm not pinoy and I would bang a poor 8 any time over a 5 who's "high society". Let alone for LTR, assuming personality is equally decent.

And let me be seen anywhere, anytime with my poor 8 while the other dude parades his 5 cause her dad is so and so. Hopefully he can put a sticker on her somehow "she ain't much but hey her dad is rich" while he's "being seen" with her.

I guess being labeled a guy who "fucks girls only because they're really hot" doesn't really bother me haha.

Believe me, I'm with you on this one in theory. But like I said, if you're more than a sex tourist, the hi-so locals can never take you seriously.

Most of the guys on this board are just passing through anyways so it's no big deal.
