She gave me the "pretty busy with work this week" excuse.

I responded with the standard, "i've heard that before, look we all know I'm way more fun than any plans you have after work. You can reschedule, they'll understand.

She says, "blah blah blah, maybe tommorow though !"

I say, "blah blah, no maybes, tommorow 8:30 at X bar at X place"

She says, "blah blah, ooh I do love X bar, that's the irish one right ?"

I say, "sure is, so I'll see you there tommorow night" - sent at 6:48 PM


This morning I get this gem of a text:
"hey so I got in a car accident last night, and I'm fine but I'm gonna be dealing with that all day after work. I'm sorry I'm gonna have to reschedule this"

How convenient, I've NEVER heard that before, I laughed when I read that.

I responded with a simple "pics or it didn't happen"

Apparently a friend of hers died, which turned out to be true. But then I see her post a pic on IG about her excited to be the maid of honor.

You sure you didn't just get the digits wrong? This is why I usually send a text immediately or call them so they "have my number" (aka check that I put in the number right). Another reason I have them type it in themselves or visually confirm it on screen too.

Classic "family crisis" excuse. One of the standard go-to's next to "forgot it was my friend's birthday" "had to help X with Y" and "not feeling well." I don't buy it.

I figure fuck it and try restart 24 hours later and we reschedule for Tuesday. An hour before we met up she tells me she'll be over at 8 just waiting for her roommate to come home from work so she can watch her dog.

8 o'clock comes and goes no call no show. My response? Nothing.

I confirm plans a few days in advance in the afternoon (that's my max)
I confirm the day before (so I pipeline other dates in case and double book)
I confirm the afternoon of my evening dates. (also in case so I can have back up plans)

Rolling solo last Friday, approaching like a madman after hooking my wagon to a night out with a couple and their gay friends.

Managed to meet a girl at last call when the spins started to take hold. Somehow spat game at her, walked her 4-10 blocks home to her house in -15+ weather (I call it Canada game).

Got her to write her name and number on a pad of paper I brought out w/ me after my attempts to weasel into her house were rebuffed ("It's cold out, I could really go for some green tea" & bathroom excuse)

Texted her the Monday after, she seemed real stoked "Hey You! You're not dead! blah blah blah"

Set up a meet for tomorrow - Friday - at bar near her work. Said she'd swing by after her shift as a server ended ~10 PM

Get a text from her one hour ago: "Not sure if I'll make it out tmrw. I got invited to a party!"

Gonna keep text gaming her until I blow my wad/ see evidence that I should give up all hope; an immediate foreseeable occurrence.

Turns out my proudest achievement that night was making the drive home.

Lessons learned/ to be reiterated:

1) Roll out solo, more fun will be had with more types of people, less social judgements
2) Don't give up gaming until streets are empty
3) Chicks who can make it to the bar when it's -15 below are there for a reason
