Here in the Phils, if you like the type, and I do, the percentage of 6-7.5 girls (I like very slender girls who are soft-spoken and polite) is extremely high-- and importably the proportion of guys who could provide even a solid 1st world working poor lifestyle for those girls is very low--many, many guys have no money.

The big thing is I am having trouble staying healthy here in Cebu, I think because of the air pollution. When I was young in the USA I had allergies, but they abated as I aged. I used to go to Bench Fix, they are pretty much all over the place, especially around Makati. I went for the more 'senior' stylists or whatever who actually knew what they were doing. Cost about a couple of hundred PHP, so cheap by western standards.

In the US, many places will ask if you want it washed, you say 'no', not a big deal.
When I went to that salon, everyone in the whole store stared at me when I said I didn't want a shampoo. It was this big scene. Then they bring me over to the gay guy that's going to cut my hair so he can poke at my head for a couple minutes before finally deciding "it's ok". My hair was a little long and thick because I had been slacking on finding a barber, but it's not like my hair is dirty.
Then after the cut, they wanted me to get it washed again. NO. They finally said "we'll just rinse it", I agreed. And the chick still put something in my hair.
If you don't care about getting your hair washed, you might not care. Maybe they won't even mention it when you go. But like a lot of guys on the forum, I don't use chemicals in my hair, and I couldn't get over how unbelievably awkward the whole thing was.
The place is very nice and the guy did a good job, but ever since that first time I just go to Rocky's Barbershop. It's very simple, hardwood everything, mostly older, more middle to upper class Filipino men in there getting their hair cut.
Both places are about the same price, like 250 pesos. Either way, the amount of care and attention to detail you get is a little crazy until you get used to it.

You said that you hadn't been scammed once in Davao, which I disagree with.
Now your argument is that you were scammed but it wasn't for much money and it's much worse in Manila. But no one has claimed otherwise.
I'd like to simply repeat my friendly advice of paying better attention to your surroundings, considering you also think you didn't go to any "poor places" in Davao.
Dozens of people sleep in the parks downtown every night and there are guys digging through trashcans on the main highway in front of Abreeza (one of the two nicest malls) as soon as it gets dark.

I'm back in the States now and wept twice during the trip back home. The first upon experiencing the fat, old, bitchy stewardesses and gay stewards during the United flight from Tokyo to Newark. It was at that moment I realized the stark contrast between Asian and Western women.
The other time was this morning when I woke up and saw the fall foliage, mountains, clear blue skies and breathed in the crisp fresh air.
The women (the feminine) in the US are atrocious, but the geography and climate (also the feminine) is the most beautiful. I wish I knew of a place where a man can have it all.
Taxi drivers in Davao scam you by taking the long way. What should be an 8 min ride from the Marco Polo to Business Class would take 20+ mins. To me, this is worse than straight up overcharging because they are also stealing my time.
My landlord in Davao essentially scammed me out of the balance of my deposit. At a little store in Times beach they charged me 90 pesos for beer that was supposed to be 75 pesos. Ferry rides were more than they should've been. If there isn't a clear price marked on it you will get scammed, if you haven't bought things without a clear price than you didn't venture outside of the bubble and Davao certainly has it's bubbles.
Many women I dated were scamming in some kind of manner. Scamming their current boyfriends by being with you or scamming to extract money from you. Some girls are better at playing the long game and don't seem to be scamming, but they are. If your wise enough you can just feel it. Especially if you've been in a lot of past LTR's back home, you know when a woman is really into you for you. It's the poverty of the Philippines that makes it a paradise....of sorts.
Perhaps this doesn't apply for guys that are young, good looking, have great game and would be landing the same kind of quality back home, but for the rest of us I would also say open your eyes and mind your surroundings.

Just wanted to share a new scheme I set up. Some might find it to be an awesome scheme if it works out well and people have hard time getting girls to come back. I have yet to even try using it once, but I will see if it works good. It works based on the idea that few girls in Manila will decline when you say you need to go back to the place to charge your phone. And apparently even though it is not in their interest for you to charge your own phone, they mostly don't resist. So what can you do to make it even much more likely all girls you meet will be down to go back with you? give them a reason to be very interested in a reason to charge your phone. Right from the beginning I make up a story that 2 married friends living in Canada are coming through the Philippines and meeting up, that they plan to hire some filipinos and create an all filipino workforce for their new business where they will get to work and live in Canada. I make sure my phone is just 5 minutes from completely emptying when I meet the girl. I have send texts from sim2 I label as my friend's name and it will send to my phone making it look like I am getting messages from "kevin" when it is just me sending from a second SIM, radioing to the cell tower, and appearing as a new message from the name of the SIM and they will never be able to tell that you sent it from a sim2 to your number. She will see how he is coming to hire filipinos to bring to Canada. Right when I am getting a message that interests her she sees it, and the battery runs out and, Oh! I have to go charge my phone! Now if the normal I just gotta charge my phone, works fine for most girls in Manila, this should be a failproof way to make sure every girl you meet will want you to go and charge your phone. To make it feel genuine, you set up a pseudo Facebook account for the people and their business/have them as friend, saying beforehand you will check it. Then you follow through with it when in your hotel before entering your routine. I even created a vacancy announcement I carefully have put up shortly before I see each girl, and posted on that pseudo account to make this whole thing look genuine!
And that is my crazy, adventure way of trying to make it a piece of cake to get all the girls you want back to your hotel. I hope this is a doable plan. I will be staying in Mindanao for years so if this works the way I think it does for making all girls interested in me charging that phone, I will surely have a new girl in my room every day for a long time!
If anyone has any ideas for adjustment please share. And if overall there have been any systems or tactics similarly used specifically to ensure the girls come back to the hotel, share too. But I hope this is one of the best.

The "long way" is definitely a common one. My favorite is when the cab driver u-turns on an empty residential street to let me out on the curb, so I don't have to walk the three extra steps around the cab -- and runs the meter the whole time. Anything for an extra 3.50 pesos.
But the worst thing cab drivers do is the "no change" scam. If I ask a driver as soon as I get in if he has change for 500 pesos, he'll say yes without even thinking about it. I've had them say no maybe once or twice out of dozens of instances.
But don't ask first and try to give them a 500 when you get to your destination and 75% will look at you like you're crazy.
My girl didn't understand what I was talking about, because they don't do this to locals. She never asks. We went to take a cab. I ask if he's got change for 1000. "Yes".
He then drives to the first gas station we pass and asks for change -- while he runs the meter. He continues to our destination, where he suddenly has a few thousand pesos in various denominations in his pocket.
He then gives me 900 back on a 73 peso fare. After I point this out, he gives me 20 more, which still isn't the correct change but I couldn't even be bothered arguing about it any further. This was from a guy who specifically told me he had change before I got in.
Side note: I used to tip drivers when I first got here, but stopped after I realized Filipinos never do. I still tip more than them on many occasions, cab rides just aren't one of them.
There was another instance a while back where the guy said he had change, then we got there and he didn't so I waited there while he spent 10 minutes searching for change. Then he tried to charge me the almost doubled fare from when he left the meter running that entire time.
Lately I've even had a couple drivers look at me crazy when I try to give them 100 peso bills. I had a fare the other night that was 57 pesos. The guy claimed he only had a 50, but of course he doesn't want to budge on the extra 7 pesos, because he knows I'll get tired of haggling before he does. Once you call their bluff, they either have to admit they were lying/wrong and lose face or sit there for 10 minutes arguing with you.
About a week before, took a tricycle, asked the guy as I get in if he has change for 200. We get to my place and he takes the 200 like, "ok, thanks". "No, I need change". He then gives me back 100. You can see by the look on his face that he knows a taxi wouldn't have even been 80 for the same route, and he's testing to see if I know this and that a tricyle should cost less.
What makes it worse is it was raining and I was next in line at the taxi queue. Why would I have "offered" to pay 3x the rate of a cab to ride a tricycle in the rain?
Onto is right about them trying to overcharge on things where the price isn't specifically written. Even if you've already agreed on a price beforehand, they will sometimes try to tack on some extra charge for something they make up on the spot. That's where things have a potential to get pricier.
Another thing I consider a scam is that they'll let people ask you for money inside stores, restaurants, etc., but will immediately shoo them away if they start begging locals. The people already target you because you're a foreigner, then you have the people who's business you're giving money to turn the other way while there's someone harassing you as you sit inside a coffee shop.
The scams definitely aren't as big or blatant as what I've heard about in Manila, but they're definitely there. I don't say that to paint it as some terrible place, and there are definitely people who are very honest. I'm just advising people to pay attention so you're not being taken for a fool every time you walk out the house.

I forgot to mention the "no change" scam taxis do. After suffering through that a few times I also wised up and asked beforehand. Running the meter while you're digging for the fare is another one.
Enigma, I did pay the 11,000+ pesos for a 6 month extension last week, but as I had to make a decision this week on whether to renew my monthly lease at the condo, move into a hotel, go to a different city in the Phils, go to Vietnam, etc, I decided to just go home.
It was my first time abroad and solo at that so I guess I was homesick. I am very thankful to the forum members here such as Skyleth, PaulB, YardDog, rcraig33hb, and UberBicep for hanging out with me and giving me pointers on game here in the Phil.
I honestly had more fun hanging out with them then hanging out with the girls. Doing both is the best of both worlds, which is why this forum is so great. You can go almost anywhere in the world and have like-minded friends to hang out with.
Although you and I didn't get a chance to hangout, your emails on logistics were very useful to me and I'm grateful for that.
I talked with many expats who are older than me about my financial situation and theirs in relation to long-term retirement so I decided to go back, work, and make as much money as I can with the small amount of working years I have left (5-10). I can see myself going to Asia in the future years from Dec through March, but not permanently as the climate doesn't agree with me and not having any work to do left me with a lack of identity and identity is one of the main criteria for being.
I also wasn't able to connect with a quality girl on a deep emotional/physical level. Had some fun, but at my age I need more than that for the long run and I'm really looking for an LTR with one amazing girl. It's certainly possible to find that in the Phil but it would take a lot of time, energy and resources which would probably be wiser spent at this point making bank which I can do rather well here in the States.
I'll be back, already kinda missing the girls. I learned a lot, enough to know that next time I'll do it differently. I'll write up an "Epic" post (sorry mods couldn't resist) in the coming weeks/months on Davao logistics and of course women.

So just offering a guess really. I see it as a worldwide process which isn't overall bad. I'd like Filipinas to be able to afford to go to the dentist.
I'm extrapolating backwards by watching the rate of use of smart phones ( penetration among lower middle class chicks here seems to be around 50%) , and the penetration of broadband into chick's houses-- which I didn't see personally here-- but has likely changed the last few years.
I did see the correlation of the spread of widespread broadband in RU/EE with rising female demands with my own eyes from 1993 to 2013 over about 7 visits there.
It's subjective, true, but it is what I feeeeeel coming lolllzlz. But as pointed out above-- nothing can match the "perfect storm" supporting women's entitlement in the Anglosphere.
Also, of course aging after about 40 reduces our value, so one always tends to think the good old days were better, when they were just the days when we were better looking.

It works based on the idea that few girls in Manila will decline when you say you need to go back to the place to charge your phone. And apparently even though it is not in their interest for you to charge your own phone, they mostly don't resist. So what can you do to make it even much more likely all girls you meet will be down to go back with you? give them a reason to be very interested in a reason to charge your phone. Right from the beginning I make up a story that 2 married friends living in Canada are coming through the Philippines and meeting up, that they plan to hire some filipinos and create an all filipino workforce for their new business where they will get to work and live in Canada. I make sure my phone is just 5 minutes from completely emptying when I meet the girl. I have send texts from sim2 I label as my friend's name and it will send to my phone making it look like I am getting messages from "kevin" when it is just me sending from a second SIM, radioing to the cell tower, and appearing as a new message from the name of the SIM and they will never be able to tell that you sent it from a sim2 to your number. She will see how he is coming to hire filipinos to bring to Canada. Right when I am getting a message that interests her she sees it, and the battery runs out and, Oh! I have to go charge my phone! Now if the normal I just gotta charge my phone, works fine for most girls in Manila, this should be a failproof way to make sure every girl you meet will want you to go and charge your phone. To make it feel genuine, you set up a pseudo Facebook account for the people and their business/have them as friend, saying beforehand you will check it. Then you follow through with it when in your hotel before entering your routine. I even created a vacancy announcement I carefully have put up shortly before I see each girl, and posted on that pseudo account to make this whole thing look genuine!
And that is my crazy, adventure way of trying to make it a piece of cake to get all the girls you want back to your hotel. I hope this is a doable plan. I will be staying in Mindanao for years so if this works the way I think it does for making all girls interested in me charging that phone, I will surely have a new girl in my room every day for a long time!
If anyone has any ideas for adjustment please share. And if overall there have been any systems or tactics similarly used specifically to ensure the girls come back to the hotel, share too. But I hope this is one of the best.
Why would you need to do that though? It seems like a lot of work to do which might end up with your date being super uncomfortable anyway.
Just trial close it before the meet. Say you've got some awesome horror movies at your place. If she says no, bail.

I agree the men don't, but this bill was written and sponsored by a woman and it's designed to require foreigners to disclose their finances to the woman before marrying in the Philippines.
Seems like straight-up female/family interests at work. According to the article the male foreigner will have to get a letter from his country attesting to his fine moral character and his financial ability to provide.
What constitutes proof of adequate financial ability is of course not defined so as to leave the process open to corruption in the future. Nice!

Any rock climbers or bouldering fans? I'm interested in what Cebu has to offer as far as clibming. Ive done some internet searching but as usual f^k China. No google or yahoo, i have to use bing which sucks.
Also, any heads up on best locations in Cebu City. I saw that the Mango Plaza area was good in the data sheets. Any specific hotels that dont break the bank and dont have roaches (im tired of them, another china thing).

This law is stupid and doesn't make any sense. In order for a Filipina to go overseas the man sponsoring her for a visa needs to show proof of income anyways. Most western and even NE asian countries are pretty strict about this requirement.
This law doesn't in any way matter within the Philippines itself. Most filipinas aren't really being "exploited" by foreigners within the Philippines.
This law might even work against the interests of your average Filipina because it makes potential legitimate suitors jump through retarded hoops. This means all a guy has to do is point to this law and make an excuse as to why he can't commit to his gf. It might actually give some men an easy out.

I'm really surprised. I never had a taxi driver not turn on the meter in the meter. Granted I always tend to point at the meter when I step in. After spending some time in the Eygpt and the Middle East, I was quite happy when I was back in Manila, and all taxis used the meter. The only little Mafia is the Yellow Cabs from the airport. They run on a meter, but often more expensive and try to pull all the tricks. I usually try flag a white taxi outside of arrivals. Think there is a bus to the centre for P50. I might take that next time.

It's a wider phenomenon across SE Asia. These sexpats are coming and living on their pensions (or even far less) taking a wife and living like locals whilst contributing SFA to the community.
These countries still obviously want the sexpat dollars, but they need to make sure they have the means.

My worry was about Davao supposedly taking a lot longer for girls to go back to your place and bang. I want to find a way to reduce the amount of time needed to get a girl to go back to the hotel. I heard that charging the phone was popular option that did not fail much in Manila. I thought maybe finding a somewhat bolder variant would make it more sure I get them to go back. But I will just try and see what techniques work best to get them to go back
