ISIS related clashes and riots in Europe
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-...l#comments

Quote:Similar protests took place throughout Europe on Tuesday by Kurds seeking to draw attention to Islamic State's onslaught against the Kurdish town of Kobani in northern Syria.

The violence erupted after a standoff between the protesters, rumoured online to be supporters of the PKK, and members of a nearby mosque associated with the Salafist movement - a strict interpretation of Islam backed and funded by the Saudi regime

Local media reported that some demonstrators came armed with iron bars and machetes. Sadowsky says police used water cannons to break up the protest, and arrested 22 people.

The Local reports that 400 Kurds gathered near the Al-Nour mosque after an earlier demonstration against the violence in Iraq and Syria. They were met by about 400 Salafi Muslims, according to police who said members of both groups came armed with metal bars, machetes and other sharp objects.

Fighting broke out at about 11pm, prompting police to block all roads and try to drive vehicles between the two groups. After midnight police moved in with water cannon, staying on the streets in riot gear until the early hours of the morning.

It's not the first inter-ethnic violence in Germany related to the current Middle East crisis. On Monday evening six people were hurt in Celle, Lower Saxony, after a brawl broke out between about 30 Muslims and 60 Yazidi Kurds. Around 60,000 Yazidis live in Germany.

Quote:Ethnic Kurds clashed overnight with alleged members of a hardline Islamist movement in Hamburg last night, as ISIS clashes spread far from Syria.

Police in the northern German city say 14 people were injured overnight in the violence involving hundreds of demonstrators before riot police were able to quell the disturbance.

Police spokeswoman Karina Sadowsky said this morning that fighting began after hundreds of Kurds held a protest against the Islamic State group.

It's insane that they're attacking Kurds in Germany too.

The violent Salafists should be deported or put to death.

RE: ISIS related clashes and riots in Europe
If you want a cold, bitter dose of reality when it comes to national self-interest, look at what Turkey is doing with ISIS set to capture Kobani. Turkish troops are literally a stones throw away, watching ISIS units move freely and hoist flags less than a mile from their border, while the YPG / Syrian Kurds are on the brink of extermination. The Turks will wait for the Kurds to be eliminated, and then roll in to clean up the mess.

I support the Kurds and believe their outrage is justified, however, it illustrates another (often overlooked) aspect of multiculturalism. Even when you bring in a relatively peaceful group of people, all their political, social, and cultural baggage comes along with it, leading to even more friction.

I support a free Kurdistan too; but that could potentially make another huge war. Iraq isn't really in any position to stop Iraqi Kurdistan. Syrian Kurdistan is getting to that point. That entire country if falling apart. However Kurds may find themselves in a civil war in both Iran and Turkey if they attempt to secede.

History repeats itself.

I am pretty sure larger conflicts have occurred from these types of things.

Not sure if this has been mentioned in other threads, but there are several Americans fighting alongside the Kurdish YPG against ISIS.

This is what a fucking man looks like. Guy's name is Jordan Matson from Wisconsin. He dropped his girlfriend, dropped his job, and left for Syria recently. He was wounded in the foot during an ISIS attack, and has killed his share of the enemy already.

You do realize Turkish is in an unofficial war with the Kurdish separatists don't you? What incentive is there for Turkey to aid the Kurds outside of its borders? You sound like Turkey is morally obligated to restore balance in Syria like some kind of a Middle East Police. How misguided are you? The Kurds have been burning hospitals, schools, public property, goverment buildings, raiding stores, cars and houses in several Turkish cities for the last few days and 22 people are dead so far. Curfew was declared in 6 Turkish cities. There are tanks rolling in the street of major cities right now, including Istanbul. This is nothing less than a small scale war, and Kobani is where the Kurds recruit members for their terrorist organization PKK. And Turkey is supposed to help them because Kurdish civilians are being killed? This is a conflict between Kurds and Radical Islamists and it's got nothing to do with Turkey. Furthermore, the majority of Turkish citizens are so fed up with the Kurds that they don't feel any symphaty with the Kurds being killed in Kobani, they even hope that ISIS wipes them all out.

You think Kurds terrorizing Europe and Turkey to protest the events in Syria is justified? ''Let's vandalize in Hamburg and Istanbul because ISIS is attacking Kobani'' what hamsterish mentality is this and you think it is ''justified''.

ISIS. Very easy choce. And I will tell you why. Kurds are an inside enemy who you can't proparly fight, while ISIS is an outside enemy. The Kurds in Turkey are Turkish citizens, estimatedly 20 million of them, and they have rights. They hold seats in the parliament. When you kill 1 of them, 1000 of them protest. You kill 10 Kurdish terrorists who attacked a Turkish police station and tens of thousands of Kurds uprise while Kurdish MPs attend the funerals of the terrorists who die. You can't fight this enemy because you don't have the authority nor the means to put a bullet in them. As for ISIS, there are only a few thousands of them. Drop a nuke on them and no one will bat an eye. Drop a bomb in a Kurdish town and you will have civil war. So essentially you are asking me to choose between whether to fight a bully or cancer.

For the second reason, ISIS are Sunni Muslims, so is the majority of Turkish population. That is in fact why the Turkish Government has been secretly aiding ISIS and refusing to call them a terrorist organization. ISIS are killing non-Sunni Muslims and there is a long list of countries to attack before considering to attack a militarily powerful country as Turkey. To ISIS, Turks are degenerate Sunnis, but still Sunnis.

The reason ISIS can't be easily stopped is because they blend in the civil population in Middle East. If they try to penetrate Turkish borders, the situation will be the opposite. The Kurdish rangers will detect and attack them before Turkish military.

Very tough to decide. Hmm, I will have to say either Lebanese or Kurdish. Many Persian (Iran) women undergo plastic surgery.

No, I'm not an ''erdogan supporter''. Believe it or not, Turks are not divided into for-erdogan's and pro-erdogan's. And you are really delusional and prove to know nothing about the history and politics if you think Erdogan is gonna end up fleeing from Turkey. And I'm saying this as someone who protested against him in June 2013 protests. Your Egypt comparison is just dumb and bigoted to say the least. In order for a leader to be exiled/imprisoned/executed by its own people, you need to have a combination of factors: collapsed economy, loss of support from the majority of people and a totalitarian attitude to stay in power by any means necessary, like ruling the country with an iron fist. In Erdogan's case, his popularity keeps getting increased with every election (currently it's +50%), the Turkish economy is stronger than ever and despite his increasingly authoritarian attitude he's still a very legitimate leader. On top of that, he completely crippled the powerful military command in the last years and pushed them into submission in order to eliminate the risk of a military coup against his conservative regime. If you want to compare Erdogan to someone, compare him to Putin. They are following similar strategies in terms of controlling the media, justice system, the oligarchs and the masses with propaganda, corruption, religion and patriotism. I will believe Erdogan will have a tragic fall the day Putin gets locked up.
