Trust me - I have read documents by big private banking departments which even call the US system a fully fledged plutocracy. They put that very term in the documents FOR THEIR CLIENTS.

I can believe that, it might be the biggest open secret right now. It's hard to say that in public or even on forums because most associate Plutocracies with Authoritarian or Communist-hybrid regimes. It kinda comes off like a crass exaggeration or tin foil hat junk, despite on paper it looks and quacks like a duck. Authoritarian states and Democracies are not even mutually exclusive from each other. America might be one or maybe two marshall law suspensions away from becoming one.

Our prisons are like holiday camps anyway

A friend of mine, who has been inside multiple times, said that there is definitely no rape in British prisons…because there are too many guys there who WANT to have sex to need to!

I believe there needs to be a hierarchy of prisoners in a prison in order for rape to occur. Although I have no idea what it looks like, from the sound of it I imagine North Koreon prisons more like concentration camps where everybody is oppressed. So I wouldn't count on him being raped.

On the other hand, aren't U.S citizens entitled to certain privileges in such cases? If they are being treated same as the citizens of other countries outside U.S, U.S passport is not that much of a valuable asset.

I want to go to North Korea as a tourist.

Has anyone here gone? They have opened up a bit more recently and there are several documentaries of tourists' experiences there, as well as blogs about it.

I don't think it'd be THAT bad I mean, you wouldn't be in danger from muggings or robbery or whatever. Of course, you'd be with some guide it'd be like a school trip when you're little basically. Except if you break the rules I guess it's slave labor instead of detention.

Still, I think I would go. Is that dumb?

Same old story with this dude.

Guy reads about North Korea. Learns they are most isolated country. He assumes they are retards who know nothing about foreign technology and intelligence data (even tho DPRK has many agents in highly sophisticated societies like Japan and South Korea). He tells them a fairy tale, which they take as an insult and he gets locked up.

I have no idea why people even think that they can pull off some wild stunt with a country that is highly organized and controlled. They are already under total embargo. They have nothing to lose, if you piss them off you go to jail. What is anyone going to do ? Bomb them ? They can't. Sanction them ? They already are. Kick them out off some international body ? They already kicked themselves out voluntarily.

Even state television there said openly that they imprisoned him just because they were insulted and he tried to act as "second Snowden"

I planned to go but ended up not have the time on my last Asia trip. Check out Young Pioneer Tours, they're the best deal I could find. If you're American you'll have to fly in. If not you can take a train. Either way you'll have to go to china first.

If you go, be sure to have a "gift" for your Korean guide(foreign cigarettes will work for a male guide). They'll be friendlier.
