Yeah I read that an ex cadre commander is the current leader. Manipulates elections and generally uses gestapo tactics to silence descent. Whats crazy is all this shit could take place again.

2/3rds of the population is under 30 and most of that group either doesn't believe or doesn't know what even took place.

It's insanity.

A girl went with me and she has never been before.

She kept saying "its all in the past, no need to think about it"

Even many of the people that had it the worst say its not the fault of the murdering soldiers, they were just following orders.

Are you fucking kidding me??

We were meant for far more than to suffer in our self created prisons only to die alone. It doesn't have to be that way. It never did.

Yeah, there is definitely a lot of unrest brewing here though. I've had a lot of locals vent to me about the gov. I was invited to a political rally for the people's party in the middle of the jungle when I first got here but was too hungover to go. Probably better anyways.

They may not fully understand what happened but the tension is definitely growing nonetheless.

That shit blows my mind too.

As much as I love the nature of most Khmers, they are way too passive sometimes. An older Cambodian guy who studied in America when he was younger agreed with me that they also suffer from a gnarly inferiority complex. I attribute a lot of this to their past.

They need to get fucking mad already.

It's sad because they were once a fierce empire of warriors.

I grew up with a lot of Cambodians. I always wondered if any of their fathers were Khmer Rouge who simply laid down their rifle and just blended back into society.

More like laid down their blunt instrument. The people that were executed were killed with damn near anything. Gardening tools, tire irons, car axles... Even the stalks from one of these trees has sharp edges and it was used to cut throats.

Yes, it is. They consider awful things happening to them as Karma, so to acknowledge all this is to say they have done something formerly to deserve it.

I've thought the same thing towards Scandinavia. There were formerly Vikings, but now they are the biggest pussies on Earth.

Interesting. What evidence is there that supports this? Not denying it's possible, just want read something more substantive.

You keep saying this all over the forum. So what parts of Scandinavia have you actually visited? None, according to your profile.

And the Viking comparison is such a tired and lazy rethoric. The Vikings where active over 1000 years ago. Is there any ethnic group on earth that can be held to the same standard and come out on top? Heck, most ethnic groups that are today the most populous weren't even fully formed at the time.

I like repeating it because there's multiple places where this is relative. It's valid even if I haven't visited from the political climate of the country that any poor sap with a brain can research(most notably rampant socialism and prominent feminist party). I'm personally very interested in the counter arguments or further knowledge of the subject as I'm curious and in no way want to start a new thread(more or less using this as a subtle prod). Nor do I have memory of whatever I may have posted 3-4 weeks prior so I may have repeated this without remebering if I have. I have a life, and I feel no need to track my own comments as I mainly use RVF as a place to vent ideas(in order to find more information or to give it) and as a log for approaches. Also note does it matter if I have posted this more than once? It is still a somewhat valid point that I have heard other mimic and I find it ironic(so no need to get technical as I'm not arguing the biological history of Scandinavia). Thank you come again. Back to lurking about SEA on this thread not Scandinavia.

Just got to Siem Reap. ChrisGambi flew into PP last night. We met for dinner at a Place Beyond Borders showed me. I haven't had a chance to meet up with the waitress yet but I did reconnect with her and talked to a few others. I was supposed to meet a girl I've been seeing at my place but instead had her meet me at Pontoon. A club that has a high concentration of pros. We walked inside and it's not hard to see why it's easy to shore. All the dudes are old and decrepit. The girls are young and hot. The ratio is highly in your favor. I like the girl that met me but these girls made me wish I'd come alone. 30 minutes later Gambi was gone with a girl he met.

I am loving Phnom Penh.

I just finished working out, still sober, no drinks last night. Going to shower, get some food, then hit the town.

RE: Fisto Invades Southeast Asia (Starting in BKK) Part II
great memories from reading this thread.....I loved PP so much I never left the city stayed about a month....and then came back again on a visa renewal out of Thailand.....I never did hit Siem Reap or S'killve.

Something really resonated with me in that city....the kooky expats, funky bars, the Cambodian dress style (mesh trucker hats) and the laid back/super friendly demeanor of the Cambodian people. I will have to look through my notes, but I remember hitting some funky nightclub way off the beaten path with a Vietnamese girl and her Cambodian friends....they told me it was run by gangs/mafia....I remember at midnight the dance floor cleared and the bouncers would bring in street kids/orphans to perform to Michael Jackson and then the patrons would tip the kids....it was like a scene from a David Lynch movie.....

once I tackle more of South America I plan on posting up in a nice pad on the river walk for a month or two and just enjoy the Khmer lifestyle....I can only imagine how much more development has taken place since I was last in PP....From what I was told the Koreans/Chinese were getting in on everything......Enjoy your trip!

SR is fun but quiet. Rent a bike to get around, it's $1 per day and you can get anywhere easily and without the hassle of the tuk-tuks.

The Angor National Museum is also pretty sweet. If you need recommendation for tour companies, let me know. Have some friends who started a company there a few years ago and do cool tour of Angor and the other sights.

When you hitting PP again? I may cruise up on a minibus tomorrow. 3 1/2 hours and $10. Sounds like a way better deal than paying 5 bones to sit on a bus for 5 hours...

I'll probably stay a few days before coming back down.

Hit me up if you need any SR advice - I was there for 7 months.

By the way, you can rent these to cruise around town in Sihanoukville.

BB,
Are you serious you can rent those beach buggies in SK? How much? That's amazing!
How's Cambodian food? Varied and delicious and healthy like Viet & Thai food or bland, unhealthy and crappy like Pinay food?

Loving these Cambodia posts. It's raising very fast in my list of places to not ou visit but also to post up a few months in the best future.

Keep'em coming boys !

In my couple of months back home it's pretty evident how much of a mangina/victimology/feminized culture the US has become. Pretty much any topic or agenda that has some sort of 'victim' angle to it sounds pretty good to most Americans these days and they take the bait and tacitly support it (after being hit by endless media propaganda about it). It takes a pretty self-aware and strong guy to realize what's going on and even then it's tough to really be able to do anything about it other than move abroad. That's not to say I'd actually 'fight back' if I was in a much more literal sort of negative environment. Sh*t I don't know what I'd do but I'd probably not be as brave as I'd like to think I'd be, so in a weird way I can empathize with some of these guys you're talking about. But man this thread really makes me want to visit PP.

The food is similar to thai but there are plenty of western style places also that are cheap.

Omelette breakfast with coffee and and baguette 3.50

Big sandwich 4

Beer 1

Most entrees <10

If you go to a place on riverside (higher end) its between 50-75% of US prices
