I've been randomly stopped in Moscow and asked for papers. The cops didn't speak English, but their eyebrows raised and their threatening demeanor was dropped when I said I was American. I only had copies of my documents, and my visa was even expired by a day (I was waiting for a new one to arrive). They rattled off some stuff in Russian and the only word I caught was "deportation", then let me go on my way.

I usually only carry copies of all my documents and most places seem to be OK with that, except banks. I guess it should be noticed that Russians have "documents" aka two passports, one for Russia and one for travel. They carry the Russian one like Americans carry a driver's license, for ID purposes. So it's not unusual to carry a passport around, but as a foreigner, I would still carry copies instead.

If it's not Moscow or St. P, it's all pretty much the same (western Siberia). NN...Yekaterinburg, same crap (given the same approximate size). In Russia, 2nd tier city bang you!

I was there from 2007-2008 I never got shit from people for political stuff but they did ask me for it. While I was there the US recognized Kosovo's independence which people told me was a raw deal from the US side even Muslim Tatar's supported the Christian side as it was Russia's. Then before I left The Republic of Georgia invaded Russia and Russia invaded South Osetia or whatever it's called again I had to explain my country's actions. Obviously shit like this leaves us American ex-pats in an awkward position. But one thing that helped is they didn't really see me as completely American since I'm Mexican-American with a Spanish name and dark features/skin. They probably don't see Roosh as completely American either since according to them we don't have "American" names or looks since they only see whats in the movies and think of Americans as pretty WASPish types. This happened to a guy I know when he told Russians his name he heard them whisper "damn Polish".
Credentials such as Passports, drivers licenses, and ID's over ther are a huge turn-on whenever I showed a girl my passport she told me I looked VERY handsome. But in real life I was just some schlub right ;-D that US Seal can make anyone look good its like a set of Marine dress blues. They loved that shit as they have to carry their internal passports everywhere.

I find it harder to read Russian in transliteration than in Cyrillic. Greek Kamaki's post looked like... Greek and Brodiaga's came much easier. The alphabet's definitely the least of a learner's worries...

Yeah Russian in the Latin alphabet looks weird. On the other hand, while my Cyrillic is getting better, really long words can still be a challenge. It's humbling as an adult to have your reading go back to elementary school level.

Given that Roosh said it's really expensive, I'll guess it's definitely east of Moscow. Siberia and the Far East have a higher cost of living than in the west for a variety of reasons.

Suiting up will help avoid face control, but even if you're a bit under-dressed compared to the natives, talking English can sometimes be enough to get you inside.

Ok guys, since I am a fan of sports gambling I figure I'll start the odds on Roosh's most likely place to reside.

It most likely is not a 1st tier city* (Moscow/St. Petersburg excluded) if we go by Roosh's formula for "my city" and I seriously doubt it is east of the Urals (so I'm excluding such gems as Omsk, Vladivostok, Irkutsk, and Krasnoyarsk). I am 99% confident it is in the Euro part of Russia. His preferred cities for long-term immersion in EE have been almost exclusively 2nd tier as evidenced by Krakow, Poznan, Odessa, Kharkov, etc.
Roosh pretty much bypassed Warsaw and Kiev and only visits the capital's short-term for research and media appearances
So here are my odds:, feel free to chime in on this guys:

100,000 - 1 Moscow (no chance in hell Roosh is here, might as well win the lotto)

50,000 - 1 Ufa (another "industrial city"...don't think Roosh is ready for a Russian Kharkov)

5,000 - 1 Novosibirsk (too far east, not cultural enough, few expats)

2,500 - 1 Perm (more likely than Novosibirsk though remote and expensive. If Roosh was a nature lover and was interested in eco-tourism I'd bump this up)

1,000 - 1 Samara (some forum members have had good things to say about this city though it seems too remote)

*100 -1 St. Petersburg (although a 1st tier city, the fact that it is so convenient with perfect logistics, great expat community, world-class women makes this a likely place for Roosh to reside long-term)

75-1 Kaliningrad (my dark horse candidate, right next to Roosh's favorite country of Poland, quick flight/bus ride to most Europe, beaches galore and it's summer-time)

50 - 1 Ivanovo (while a bit smallish in size it is part of the Golden Ring and called "City of Brides")

25 - 1 Kazan (perhaps Roosh is scouting future trip to FIFA 2018 WC. On a serious note I always found this city interesting, perhaps due to its exotic mix of nationalities, especially Tatar women )

10 - 1 Yekaterinburg (good logistics & size)

7 - 1 Rostov-on-Don (I hear it has great night-life and top-notch infrastructure)

5 - 1 Nizhny Novgorod (economic and cultural center of Volga region, close to Europe, great nightlife)

3 - 1 Volgograd (perfect size, good weather (for Russia), good logistics-has metrotram, and i'm sure WGF in abundance)

I know I missed some cities on this list but would take too long to cover the one's with populations <900,000

^ I've been to all cities you namedropped except Rostov on Don and Kaliningrad.
Kaliningrad would make sense, but after considering the fact that Kaliningrad is an exclave and not 'the real Russia" it also goes off the list.

Yekaterinburg would be very interesting because I met a cool girl there and actually lived at her place for a longer time. Yo- Burg still feels like my "second home"
It's little bit far away but their airport is one of the bigger international ones in Russia.

Volgograd size sucks. It's very wide and transportation can take forever. Good weather? Yeah but you should experience the Volga mosquitos in summertime. I've never been to a more mosquito infested hell hole in my life. Almost impossible to be outside without going insane because the massive amount of mosquitos which are swarming around your head.

My guess is Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod or Samara.

^^ I've only been to 4 of those, but I'll take Samara at 1,000 to 1 and offer Volgograd at 100 to 1. It's a first tier shithole.

I stopped watching TV long ago but I'm getting the same cliffhanger feeling reading threads like this.

I think Roosh is in St Petersburg as he said he spent $120 without trying.

-In terms of day game, this place really makes me miss Wroclaw and its centralized square with lots of girls walking through it or on neighboring streets. I never had to go more than 5 blocks to find something to talk to. Here, there isn't much of a square. There's a loud road next to a busy sidewalk that makes it feel like a club approach, which is definitely not enjoyable. Instead, it can be quite random when you see a decent looking girl. You just have to commit to long strolls in the afternoon in the hope for two or three good opportunities. I can't deny that clubs here can bare fruit in spite of their downsides, so it looks like I'll be spending more time in them than I thought.

-I've been honest with my backstory ("I'm a writer.. I've written travel books... I'm thinking of doing one on Russia... I came here to see the real Russia away from foreign influence"), but it still implies I won't stay forever. It just wouldn't be believable to have one that does because I'm in a generally undesirable city. While it's an okay story (girls say it's "interesting"), I know it's going to turn off some who want a permanent resident. It's just a limitation I have to deal with.

Haha the only reason I guessed these was because the 'black guy in Russia' me and speakeasy reference frequently - spent a fair amount of time in Rostov-on-don and said Volgograd was the place with the best looking girls (go to 2:15) and one of his favourite cities.

However, my Latvian/Russian friend asserts that St. P should be the holder of 'Best looking girls in Russia'.

No way in hell, at least I hope, that he is in Volgograd (the city is a mile wide and 60 miles wide), that city has the worst layout. Also, did not find the girls there more attractive than in other cities.

-I mentioned in my original post that Russian women can be touchy feely and generally more open. This seems to be primarily when they are under the influence of alcohol, because when they are sober, their vibe is quite similar to Ukrainian women. I do receive more smiles from them in sober settings and they laugh at my jokes more, but otherwise there is a stoic-ness that takes time and trust to relax.

-Over the past 3 years my humor has shifted from the American style to more of an Eastern style (more obvious humor) which doesn't depend on sarcasm or irony. It's easier for me to humor a Russian girl than an American girl. Actually, it's easier for me to connect with a Slavic girl on all levels than a Western girl.

-My Ukraine experience is turning out to be quite useful as a starting point for understanding Russians. Within 2-3 months I should have a strong foundation.

From my experience Russian economy is stronger than polish one,the prices higher and Russia as a whole is a tough country a lot more so than Ukraine which is a weak country.

My experience with Russian girls is that using sarcasm and black humour is very well responded and they use it often themselves.

But irony better not be used, especially not if their English is not good. The chance is high that they are not getting the point and that leads into a non- profitable situation.

Volgograd is a hole IMO. But towns in the northwest and around Moscow i dig.

TBH, Moscow is a big daddy of Russia, obviously, but difference is huge. Moscow is city on steroids in many aspects, from nightlife, to cost of living, but also opportunities. After all, it is largest city in Europe. So everything else pales compared to it - in terms of fun and high energy.

But Roosh is past his thirties, so even in Moscow he won't feel like he is into something new and unseen before. 2nd tier towns are, i concur, probably best for those who are not into high energy game, and have seen and traveled themselves enough.

I hope i will be able to see towns like NN, St. Petersburg and such.
