The importance of appearances ( and maybe going Gmanifesto? )

Two situations. In the second one the guy is suited. In the first one he dresses "ghetto" ( could not come with a better term).
Look at the video, and tell me how did you feel.

I just lost faith (again) in humanity.
Notice how the girls react towards the custom suited guy, and how the old lady behaves towards the non suited one.

FUCK

Islam is the salvation.

Rolling Suited Up is vindicated once again.

Now imagine how different people treat you in nightlife suited up with all the trimmings compared to wearing a button up and jeans?

The facts remain: Dress for Success.

Addressing the video though, it's pitiful how people are, but it is what it is. Play the game or get played.

Eh, I would expect a homeless guy to be lying on a sidewalk. That's where they spend most of their time.

This video should not shock or surprise anyone.

A guy dressed as a hobo lying on the street will most likely be drunk, high or mentally ill.

A guy in a suit? Shit - that is probably a genuine emergency.

Nothing to see here.

When women say it is just as hard for them to get sex as it is for men.

I tell them this.

The reason that men get picked up by the police when they pass out drunk in the street - is to stop them getting beat up and stabbed.

The reason that women get picked up by the police when they pass out drunk in the street - is to stop guys trying to rape them.

That is how much easier it is for a chick to get dick compared to a guy getting pussy.

Bitches don't even have to be awake.

Right. And a guy dressed as a hobo lying on the street who is drunk, high, or mentally ill is likely to be repeating nonsensical shit to himself or having a conversation with the concrete loud enough for passersby to hear, including anguished demands for help or other salvation.

Could be it be that a not-insignificant percentage of homeless-looking people consistently lie and deceive people to get stuff out of them on the street? Sure, a certain percentage of suited guys may clean out old ladies' 401(k)s for a living or lie on their taxes, but they don't generally pull stunts on the street to get money out of you.

We all use the optics of a situation to judge what to do. All this video serves to prove is how sanctimonious and condescending the French are, not that humanity is somehow "lost."

In other news, the sky is blue. Why would there be any surprise, or disgust over this?

I absolutely judge people on their dress, appearance, and presentation. In my case it's more about assessing risk. If a group of young guys wearing what we'll call "ghetto" clothes is coming at me, I'm about 100x more likely to think "hmm, this might be a problem" than if it's a group of young guys in nice clothes (they don't have to wear suits, just look decent). Of course, body language is more important than clothing IMO.

Look like a bum, act like a bum, expect to be treated like a bum.

It's not the suit, the first guy looks like a bum. I've had something similar happen to me I wasn't dressed spectacular but decent, people come to help you when you don't look like a bum.

I would pass too. Guys above me said it all, you'll expect a hobo to be shitfaced on a sidewalk. Why don't these fags "question humanity" when these same hobos stab people just to get money for booze?

I wear shitty clothing when I need to get work done. It keeps people from bothering me and it reminds me that nobody will take care of me if I don't take care of myself.

RE: The importance of appearances ( and maybe going Gmanifesto? )
I think people are missing the point of this video. As the creator says in the title, it's about: "The importance of appearances"

Quote:A guy dressed as a hobo lying on the street will most likely be drunk, high or mentally ill.

A guy in a suit? Shit - that is probably a genuine emergency.

Nothing to see here.

Now that is the point of the video. Implicit Bias.
Quote:Defining Implicit Bias

Also known as implicit social cognition, implicit bias refers to the attitudes or stereotypes that affect our understanding, actions, and decisions in an unconscious manner. These biases, which encompass both favorable and unfavorable assessments, are activated involuntarily and without an individual’s awareness or intentional control. Residing deep in the subconscious, these biases are different from known biases that individuals may choose to conceal for the purposes of social and/or political correctness. Rather, implicit biases are not accessible through introspection.

The implicit associations we harbor in our subconscious cause us to have feelings and attitudes about other people based on characteristics such as race, ethnicity, age, and appearance. These associations develop over the course of a lifetime beginning at a very early age through exposure to direct and indirect messages. In addition to early life experiences, the media and news programming are often-cited origins of implicit associations.

People(society) assume/s stuff based on: ethnicity, race, age, APPEARANCE(clothes). If i'm dying on the sidewalk dressed as a bum, i'm most likely high. If i'm dying on the sidewalk in a suit, i'm most likely in distress. If I'm wearing a nice suit with a nice watch and walk in a venue with an 8 on my arm i'm most likely high status and obviously preselected. No one knows that in reality i'm broke, it's my dad's watch and that's a hired gun on my arm. I already established myself in the 1% of that venue.
We need to acknowledge this BIAS, not ignore it, downplay it or deny it and make it work FOR us.

RE: The importance of appearances ( and maybe going Gmanifesto? )
Well - it is a bias. Because 9 times out of ten it will be right.

That is a useful type of bias.

Not the sort of bias which is wrong - eg only noticing when people of another race are bad - and forgetting the times they do good things.

A bit like if a guy pulls a gun on you.

He may be approaching you at random because he thinks he thinks he recognises you from the local gun club and wants to show you his latest purchase.

Or he might be about to try and kill you.

Retitling common sense as 'implicit bias' does not add to the total sum of human knowledge.
