Belly fat is the direct result of.. 1)too much bad food.. 2) Not enough belly exercise.. 3) sleep/stress..

But, if you guys can convince me otherwise, I will update my perspective.

I'm curious.

Remember this is the third country I am now resident in as an adult. The additives in the exact same foods that I have always consumed are different.

If you see from my food data sheet, 90% of the food I eat is prepared by me and I only use natural spices to season the meat. I rarely eat out.

When I first moved to North America, I found the water to make me feel nauseous. I've always been a big water drink and I don't even drink soda. In fact, I had to buy fruit juice for my fridge just to seem human and to mix drinks for the lizards etc.
I personally never drink that shyt unless I'm stranded.

The bananas tasted weird here too and so have the apples (a mainstay of my diet). Now and then I fcuk with a few mangoes but I haven't had one in about two years now.

Also when I buy the chicken raw, I notice that packaging will say includes sodium and natural flavour. What the fcuk is natural flavour?

These are the elements involved. Regarding allergies, it happened before. I've always been active and there came a point when as I said, the gut had abs sitting on them on some gorilla type shyt. I cut out all crap (in the UK) and lost about 8 pounds and was optimal.

Harder to do that over here since most things in North America is packed full of crap (even when they swear it's clean and organic).

I eat as clean as I can without going anal and going right to a farm for my grains and meat.



Perhaps the same propensity that enables me to put on lean muscle fairly quickly has a flip side in the tendency to store stomach fat. I don't know.

Funny enough, before, eating garri used to rip me up (maybe the time it took the body to break down the fibre was beneficial for my metabolism). Remember fibrous foods serve as a brush that clear all the crap from the internals and keep the lower intestine clean.

Anyway, I doubt it's as simple as food intake. I've been tweaking meals for decades now.

It has been said before but yeah, I had the same and it is most likely a wheat belly perhaps in combination with a candida infection. Basically the ideal is this:

Too much bad food (wheat, sugars, etc.) --> Sour balance in gut is too high --> breading ground for fungus, parasites, etc. --> constant bloating due to things like candida.

What helped me the most is apple acidic vinegar, combined with paleo and heavy lifting.

Interesting thread.

I'm not nearly as skinnyfat as I used to be. I'm starting to get definition on my upper abs.

But on my lower abs there's still a solid, stubborn layer of fat. I'm insanely stressed at work right now (it happens, next week will be better) and my gym/eating habits took a hit. But prior to that I've had a very solid lifestyle. Lifting 2-3x a week, boxing, hiking, reduced calorie intake (lost some strength because of this), zinc, the whole deal. Belly fat remains. I haven't completely cut out wheat, dairy or sugar though.

I'm seeing more definition elsewhere on my body. Shoulders, back, lats, but the lower belly fat remains. I know my bodyfat % has definitely gone down. Waistline has shrunk. My pullups/chinups are better than they've ever been (15 pullups consecutively and 20 chinups, can bang out sets for days) Lower bellyfat remains.

The one thing I noticed that improved my stomach definition was ditching the whey protein and creatine. My lifts definitely took a hit, but I'm 100% convinced I was constantly bloated from those two.

Starting next week, I'm going to drop my lifts way the fuck down, start on Stronglifts again, gradually increase weight, and supplement with some bodybuilding work. Gonna try going cold turkey on the wheat, dairy, and sugar, which is going to be insanely hard for me considering my line of work and eating habits. Not to use this as a crutch or excuse but it's definitely easier for some guys than others. I've known guys that do jack shit for exercise and they're just blessed with an insane metabolism that keeps them below 10% BF.

Those are the types of little things that can add up on our belly.

I imagine that there are 1 or 2 little things like this that are adding to Momas belly.

For me its dairy and sweets. Those things go straight to my belly but its hard to completely eliminate them.

Keep fighting boys! identify and eliminate/minimize your problem foods.

It's often little things like sour cream, cheese, breads, rice, sauces, guacamole, ketchup, bbq sauce, beer, soda, etc. It all adds up!

I cycled 20 mins to meet a date last night cos my car is getting fixed and my cabbie hookup is fcuking up.
The lizard and her friend were shocked. I played it off as a Euro thing.

Of course there is genetics, and we cannot really control for genetics. And, also we cannot control for if you have a particular issue. You keep mentioning fibre and grains... .. , and those are myths of popular diet as if you "need" that kind of thing. we do NOT need to be eating grains.

I also do NOT believe in specialists, but in your case, you may need to see a specialist b/c eating whole food does NOT seem to be working with you.

In some spot, you mentioned olive oil... fuck that ... that's another myth.. about olive oil being supposedly good.. yeah maybe it is o.k in low doses.. and then maybe you are consuming canola oil or some other partially hydrogenated oils.... those are all inflammatory and too high in omega 6 fats... and sometimes hidden transfat too.

Hopefully, you are NOT eating items in packages that say "healthy" on them.. b/c that is bullshit.. and even people think that substitute for butter are healthier than butter.. .That is NOT true... avoid any butter substitutes b/c they are NOT healthy, even if they say on the pack that they cure cancer.. fuck that.. .

And the best fats are animal fats, such as butter or lard, or beef fat. Also, coconut oil is very good too for cooking and even to eat raw or straight or add to anything.. and fat from fish is really good to include in your diet, especially salmon or sardines or even taking cod liver oil... to get your correct balance of omega 3 oils... if you are getting your oil from olive oil, and eating chicken, you may be overdosing in your proportions of omega 6s which makes your omega 3 insufficient to make up for it. Also, if you are eating tuna from a can, you should be eating the ones packed in water, not olive oil..

We can get away with a lot bad nutrition shit and a lot of abuse to our bodies when we are younger; however, as we get older, we get more sensitive and conditions get worse if you do NOT get a handle on what works for you. If you are having these inflammation problems,then you gotta figure it out sooner rather than later b/c its just gonna get worse.

Sure, maybe you want to keep some fruit juice around for the chicks.. but really, I get the sense that you do NOT keep it around for the chicks only.. b/c if the fruit juice is around, who is gonna drink it? Probably, you.... Fruit juice is NOT needed.. and it is worse than fruit.. b/c you get the sugar without any fibre (in the whole fruit) to slow down the absorption... Fiber is overrated, but yes it does come in handy to stop us from eating too much fruit .. b/c you will eat a lot fewer apples in their whole form then you would if you juiced them.

There just seems like there may be some things that you are doing that you may NOT want to change or you recognize them as being supposedly good for you... for example, some people drink soy milk and think it is healthy... that is crap, and there are probably other examples, too.

Diet is a big deal, even though you had seemed to suggest that it may NOT be a big deal while you are still giving some examples of things that may be a problem in your diet.. so for example, if you are eating oatmeal for breakfast and orange juice and cereal... and some fruit.. major problems with that.. ...

I bet if you wrote down what you eat for a week (which it appears you are planning to do), you will find a lot of inflammatory foods and not enough variety of meat (outside of chicken) and animal fat... that's what I suspect.... but maybe there is an outside chance that you have special circumstances in need of medical care... even though I kind of doubt it...

Have you cut wheat from your diet, entirely? hopefully. .. but yeah.. one or two servings may not be bad, if you are NOT over loading it with other related bad items.

I agree completely with the idea that you can build in a certain amount of space in your diet for deviance.. maybe less than 20% of your diet for deviance... .. and if you are used to good dietary practices, then you likely would NOT even crave to do such deviance any more than 5 or 10%.. .but .. no big deal to have a beer or a chocolate cake or some various items that are usually not in your regular dietary regime.

I would NOT want to get into the middle of any debate about various rices, and in that regard, maybe we would need to see what kinds of portions and how frequently Moma is eating these various kinds of foods.

I will delve in a little bit to say that I do get somewhat flustered by some of the debates between brown and white rice, b/c they both have a very similar affect on blood sugars.. and even rate similarly on the glycemic index ratings.

It seems that white rice wins in the resistance starch category - from some of the latest about resistance starch - especially if the rice is allowed to cool down several hours before eating.. maybe day-old is better than fresh in that resistance starch school of thought.

Also, I have the sense that this whole propaganda about complex versus simple carbohydrates is somewhat distracting b/c even if a carbohydrate is complex it can have a devastating effect on blood sugars - without necessarily providing many nutrients. And, many times whole grains are touted as healthy or nutritious when they are NOT.. so maybe we would need to see how much of these kinds of food Moma is eating... or anyone else with lingering belly fat.

I don't eat breakfast. I eat about 2800 calories a day (currently cutting). I eat about half of those calories at night. I steadily lose 1-2 lbs a week, like clockwork.

Nutrient timing has very little relevance to body composition. It doesn't matter if you eat after 6pm. This isn't anything that's even debatable in the nutrition world.

I've been thinking a lot about this.. Belly Science is one of my favorite topics.. I've been trying to keep my 6-pack for years and it never gets any easier.. People in other countries have way better 6-packs.. Why? I imagine its all the additives (preservatives, flavors, colors, etc.) in the American/Western diet.. Plus, they usually don't have the unlimited access and availability to food that we do and our PORTIONS are way bigger and we have more stress and less relaxation, which is why....

Most Americans have a Belly.

Shit, our teenagers have bellies!

Here is my point.. When my belly starts to grow, I eat cleaner overall.. Much cleaner at night.. And, I eat less at night. I don't necessarily eat less overall, but I just eat cleaner and earlier in the day. The trick is to go to bed almost hungry. You don't want much, if any, food in your stomach during sleep.. With no food to dissolve, your stomach-intestinal fluids will then breakdown the excess food matter that lingers throughout the digestive tract.

This will reduce the size of your belly. Especially, if you are drinking lots of water and eating alot of vegetables. Fresh vegetables and fruit greatly aid in this process; something about the raw enzymes being able to break up the food matter..

Drinking water assists by flushing everything out.

You will literally shit and piss your belly away

Which brings me to my conclusion:

If you want to lose your belly, your dinner should be..

A Big Salad -- with a little Fish or Chicken if you want..

The vegetables and greens will help breakdown the excess fat in your belly.

Eat a big breakfast and lunch so you will be able to eat the salad for dinner without getting hungry again.

Remember, the key is to go to bed almost hungry.

That is just my advice to guys who want to reduce the size of their belly.

I know it fucking hard for a lot of guys. It's hard for me. I like to eat!

I am of the opinion that excess sugars convert to fat, and when a food is packaged, you cannot be sure, exactly what's is in the package and what it is doing to ya... ... ... so if you eat foods at night that are gonna convert to sugar, then it may NOT help your body's ability to get rid of fat (or burn fat). So if your body is burning fat, it is NOT putting on fat.

which reminded me of the statement from Moma, earlier, in which he asked what the fuck is artificial flavorings in his chicken.. and I think that is used for MSG.. Some of the bullshit in labelling is that they do NOT have to tell us everything in the product.... and anyhow, we know that it is good to avoid MSG... so when your chicken says artificial flavorings, you are probably getting MSG (or some Pseudo MSG derivative).

I also want to say that what I wrote above is really just a starting point for guys who want to start losing their belly. It's a first step, a way for guys to start to explore the belly problem and find solutions.

Everyone's body is different. Different foods effect different people in different ways. So, guys will have to make adjustments as they learn what works best for their specific body.

I'm cool with Bro-science.. so long that it seems somewhat practical, and does NOT really contradict anything that I believe in.

I personally appreciate some scientific studies as well, but frequently we are lied to about food and nutrition matters by food and medical industries, so we have to be careful about the source of the study. And, frequently, seemingly credible studies, will be presented well and convincing, but wrong. Anyhow, sometimes, I can become fairly hostile to science that is purposefully skewed to come results that I know are NOT true.

So in that regard, you are mentioning several matters that are part of a routine that works for you and some variation of that will likely work well with a lot of guys.

By the way, hopefully we will see some food listings from Moma b/c that will be interesting to be able to respond in a context. I know that some of my views of food are a little skewed in the pro-meat and pro-fat direction, and I am trying to NOT be too dogmatic about my views.. but the dogma slips out, sometimes... .

I was slim till I changed to a career in IT - then my belly appeared and won't go away.

My Thai bar gf used to think I was pregnant, not that I was overweight compared to most of the farangs you see in Thailand!

The only thing that makes me lose weight is not eating. But that's kind of hard when food is my mistress.
