Synopsis with spoilers: A late-20's couple is unhappy with their lack of sex life. The woman proposes they will either have sex that night, or break up.

This film is a cringing portrayal of asexual herby beta with a sex, passion and love-starved woman (rough 7 IMO). Often it's good to see how not to be.

This motherfucker in this film is so low on testosterone that he is weak, frail and skinny and cares more about "spaghetti Sunday" and watching Arrested Development than banging his girl who is throwing herself at him in a cute outfit after cooking him a new recipe and candlelit dinner. He complains about having to help her move in a tiny little table from their yard to set up for dinner.

When he finally does get his shit together a little bit and starts enticing her and they bang, he has disconnected 15-year old boy sex with her while she lies there annoyed at his humping and lack of immersion. He busts in under a minute since they haven't had sex in 2 months. She rolls over with a look of shock and contempt on her face. It's obvious that cheating is on the horizon with the next guy who can produce even the memory of a tingle in her vagina.

I wish they'd provide some embedded english subtitles with the video for us foreigners. My English is excellent but my hearing is bad.

Concerning the film:

I'm inclined to almost always blame the woman for either a) being a bitch, b) being nice but choosing an asshole or c) both. This, however, is not one of those cases. This guy somehow manages to be both a pathetic Beta and and asshole at the same time. An important note, though, is that men like this usually don't make it past the friendzone. A woman throwing herself at them like this is very, very rare.

Anyways, it's nice to see a movie highlighting the perils of lack of masculinity. We need more movies like this. It's like Blue Valentine, only shorter!

I disagree with your assessment about it being similar to Blue Valentine. If you've ever behaved like a beta chump, Blue Valentine struck a chord and was difficult to watch. There was nothing about this that was difficult to watch. From the get-go, it made little sense. Even at my beta worst, I would have fucked her against the wall of the shower. And when you're that age and have gone two months without sex, you don't begin your shower while she's finishing hers. When things are that fucked up, both people shower at different times with the bathroom door closed, and sometimes locked. There's none of this happy, cheery, "you better fuck me tonight, or else" bullshit. The longest I went without sex when I had a GF was two weeks, I was pretty beta, and at the 2 week point I basically didn't speak to her, and she sure as shit wasn't essentially pleading with me to fuck. That doesn't happen. The entire video she was throwing it at him and he didn't bite, and for no reason.

The guy looks like an ex-hipster retard, and the look on her face at the end was one that clearly said "I'm going to sit on some alpha dick within days."

I remember observing my older brother as a kid, growing up in white suburbia in the early to mid 1990s. White generation X was full of annoying long-haired dramatics. Think Reality Bites and a young Ben Stiller and Ethan Hawke.

Fuck. That's a deep question.

I'd lean on the no side. He's trying to win her back with spaghetti dinner and corny songs that he doesn't quite remember. I think he stopped fucking her because she emasculated him over his lack of ambition. She asks him to fuck her, he counters with saying he's going to ask for a promotion, she demurs, then later he lashes out at her for ragging on him about the promotion. My guess is that the sex was always kind of shitty. My take is that S\she probably rejected a few of his advances earlier and so he stopped initiating. She's now begging him for sex but he's not falling for it because the last time she suggested sex in the morning she rejected him in the evening. He doesn't take her offer for sex seriously and instead offers the things he thinks he's good at. Then he finally gives it to her and it's just as shitty as always.

I've seen it happen. It was as if the guy in question went through a list of qualities of the "Bad Boy", and a list of qualities of a "Nice Guy/Beta", picked out the very worst qualities from both lists and built his personality on these. And he was in a LTR with a very hot girl (8/9), whose only psychological "failing" that I could make out was that she was mildly neurotic (and what hot girl isn't?). The look of contempt on the girls face when he did something particularly cringeworthy was priceless. Of course she eventually dumped him and hooked up with a good (in the positive sense) guy but only after some time. It was inexplicable.

While I can't claim to fully understand it, I think that it has something to do with the contemporary version of our societal malaise. Every generation believes that it is witnessing the end of the world. Ours is the disconnect and lack of humanity that we experience from the negative effects of technology and a laconic economy.

Maybe this dude will get that promotion from Carlos, but he has to worry about it in the meantime (true for every generation, but there are a lot of dudes now in much worse economic situations than him, and people generally are less wealthy than their parents).

And this dude has Arrested Development and the world generally on tap, on his laptop, whenever he wants. That would diminish the sex drive of anyone. When you've been seeing a bitch long enough and she's not good at sex, and you have the world at your fingertips, your dick can quickly go soft.
