I do socialize with guys, but as far as I'm concerned I roll solo. Having said that, I have met a few guys from RVF and all of them were cool.

Yeah, sad but true. I just got a message from a Dominican guy here on RVF. No posts just joined a month ago.

On the one hand I'd like to meet another local and then on the other I have to remember that some turd dimer me out on my first Dominican Invasion thread by miraculously recognizing a girl I posted (even with the face blotted out) and then told her.

What a fucking bitch.

I don't think it's wise to meet anyone that doesn't have rock solid references.

Dudes hit me up to meet in bkk all of the time, but most of them rarely post or are new here. I only meet up with repped members that I interact with on here. Not because I was afraid of getting outed, but because a lot of weird dudes read this forum, and even weirder dudes come to Bangkok.

I almost met up with a local nut job. I mentioned his username to a couple mates while I was setting up a meet and they recognized him straight away as this virgin with negative game and mental issues they were once introduced to whose part of the local pickup community. He wouldn't stop texting me after I stopped replying to him, god knows what would have happened if I gave him my name or facebook instead of just my number. He ended up getting banned from the forum shortly after.

These horror stories are making me rethink how liberal I've been with some of my info. I try not to share it with anyone who doesn't have a lot of clout here, but still...

I remember there was some guy targeting dudes from the twoplustwo forum a while back.

If I remember correctly, he met up with a member at the guy's apartment building and must have had a buddy with him. He then went out clubbing with the forum member and once they were gone, the buddy or whoever went in the apartment and cleaned the place out. A lot of the poker guys were being pretty transparent about whether they were balling or not.

Don't remember exactly how they got in the room. this was a couple years ago that I read this.

Good point. I have met some pretty good friends out at clubs though. You learn to separate the wheat from the chaff. I usually roll solo too though.

The problem with all this name calling and distrust amongst us a forum members is the newer ones won't be able to get rep points because we can't exactly meet up with anyone. So how is trust going to be exactly established with us new guys?

You'll have to keep posting and over time as the rep points and likes build up, people will be more open to you.

Also - if you want to meet up with a more established member - you could break the ice with your contact info first. Or meet up with other newbs. Write a blog. Post for RoK. Something that gives you "skin in the game" makes you more trustworthy. The fact that you already have a rep point is in your favor.

Sucks that it has to be this way, but that's life.

Personally, I get the sense that guys here are NOT saying to NOT meet up with others or NOT to meet with new guys under any circumstances; however, to take precautions - especially when new guys may be acting a little more weird than the normal weird.

Also, probably, NEW guys could contribute in various ways in public postings on the forum in order that members get a sense about who they are and how they think. Surely, this is NOT foolproof, but something to work with.

ALSO, there are several examples of members on this forum who have a lot of rep points, but allegedly NO one has met them... he he he.

There are several boisterous members here who talk down to the new guys, insult anyone who doesn't agree with them and give out varying degrees of bad game/financial/travel advice. Everyone looks the other way because they've got a 70-something next to their name. If no one else can vouch for them (in real life), then how much credence can be given to their posts?

I haven't met any members yet, but definitely want to as soon as I start travelling next year. I think it would be a shame if meet ups tailed off. Maybe senior members can take precautions meeting new guys by meeting them in a crowded area and seeing if they look cool?

Big meetups are good for this. I had already met a couple of guys, but then a large meetup was scheduled and there were introductions and bullshitting all around.

Even guys with rep points can do weird shit.

Of course it's always a good idea to meet a guy for the first time in a safe place, but that's not a guarantee he won't pull some shifty stuff later, or try to expose your identity. Meetups are always a small risk but I've already met a number of cool guys from it so there is a big upside as well.

yea its fucked up, but writing about him on a forum isn't going to do anything but give him gratification. He's seeking attention at this point.

If it was your reputation, would you waste time writing about him or just wait to run into him one night and give him a beat down? I know that's what I would do.
