Why are we looked down on?
It seems like most guys think our playa lifestyle is wrong and they feel they're above it Dodgy I can understand not wanting to live like us but where does all the hate come from? I've heard shit like I'm not happy, ill never be happy, I wasn't raised right, I have no manners, I don't know how to treat women, etc...all because I like fucking different girls. I think guys like this secretly wish they could juggle bitches and understand them better. The funny thing is I've NEVER had an older guy criticize me. Its always guys in their 20's and younger which leads me to believe society is making us the bad guys and dumbasses are falling for it. Just something I was thinking about earlier while smoking one.

Cuz you're going against the grain dude. This lifestyle doesn't exactly sit well with the guy who bought into the wife + 2.5 kids program.

It comes from living in one of the most hypocritical countries of the world. A lot of people here in US speak loudly in public that something (cheating, sucking cock, fucking whores, gaming women) is wrong. Then they go home and do it themselves, and complain about their "privacy" being exposed when they got busted.

Actually I wonder if this is even news for you. It took me about two years to figure it out that it doesn't matter at all what your American friends says about anything, as he says the things he thinks the society expects him to say, not something he really thinks or does. Very, very few people here actually have balls to openly state their beliefs in public and stand up for them. But for you guys who lived here your whole life, in my opinion it shouldn't be news at all.

So when someone here tells you something is wrong, just ignore it. They may actually be doing it themselves.

RE: Why are we looked down on?
I think a lot of it does stem from the fact that most of us were raised in America. As children or grandchildren of baby boomers that mentality is still very much engrained in our society.

As stated partly above, jealousy, feminism, religion, and social norms also come into play. I certainly don't go around telling everyone about my lifestyle (I made the mistake already with my roommates, but it was a bit unavoidable) just as I don't shout that I'm an Atheist from rooftops either.

I agree totally. When I came here, I was more upfront and I thought that acting with integrity and honesty on a whole would get me certain things.

I realise it is all a game and I don't really consider anything I hear here. It's all B.S. I've had guys condemn my intents then on the sly, try to holla at lizards that I've already put a strong bid in for..

RE: Why are we looked down on?
People who function outside of social norms are always going to have to face adversity.

Quote:People are envious of those who aren't conformists. We are unchained and roam as we wish.

It is definitely true that the default state for humans is to be a conformist. Within the context of American culture this means "contributing to society" by stretching yourself as thinly as possible. Conventional wisdom is that by the time a guy is in his 30s he should have went to college to get some lame job, get married, be financially shackled to a mortgage and car payments, and start having kids because all of those things are "responsible" and "morally appropriate". Many people simply are not capable of the level of abstract thinking and practical application required to be able to 1. see that all of that stuff is an illusion and 2. get down the logistics and experience of being able to live the bachelor lifestyle well.

It is certainly easier to get used to your wife and endless nights spent rotting away in front of a television instead of going out and trying new things. Consider the amount of balls required to not want to get comfortable with the socially acceptable lifestyle (which is definitely an alpha male trait). The more lame, timid, and average types certainly are not up to the task.

American culture is definitely more conservative than European culture. You get a lot of people who believe (in a set of values) but don't follow. Or follow, but don't really believe. Much of the world is like this - China, India, Middle East, many catholic countries, etc....

These are the grey areas within conservative cultures. I don't think its hypocrisy (hypocrisy arguments rarely have merit anyway) as much as it is an internal struggle that these people deal with. It's normal.

What's more important is respecting each other's freedom of choice. Which conservatives clearly have more trouble with.

I don't know if this is true. I grew up in Europe and I left because I didn't feel my creative potential was allowed to flourish with its conservativism (especially in the UK).
I won't quote other reasons why I left.

I think the differences in North America (and I will use the United States as an example since Canada is quite similar and tends to follow suit 5-10 years later) is that North America encourages expression of opinion.

I think they have the similar opinions in Europe but because expressing one's opinion is not encouraged as much, you don't get a strong idea of what people believe per se until push comes to shove.

For instance, only when I came to America did I see so many books on self help and these super gurus and all this get rich in five fast steps etc etc.

In my experience in America, it's a much more open culture. I feel it's a lot less conservative. I don't buy anything people say..because they never act on it. Maybe it's my European training but I can filter through a NA woman's drivel and get down to the meat and potatoes of what's going on very very quickly.

Values here are generally trite and easily negotiated. I'm not knocking the culture, I personally prefer it to European (so far).

However, I have not lived in America long enough to really say if I like all that materialistic stuff but let's see..

Single men are often mistrusted or outright feared. The perception is that we are not tied to anything or held down by family or wife.

Interesting. I guess everyone has their own experiences. I have found Europeans to be very opinionated and highly ethnocentric, much like Americans.

It's definitely a complex issue. I think that conservatism depends on the exact context. As I see it American right wing is further right than in Europe. And it is based largely on traditional Christian values. Generally, the European right is reactionary to strong liberal left. For example, many European countries were too open/liberal with their immigration policies and now there is a strong resistance and growing right.

The European view on immigration is a microcosm of European liberal hypocrisy. But, I really should digress on this subject.

I agree with this perspective on it. A single, grown man is a scary thing to both genders. A bachelor with a life that well put-together--with money, status, social cred, talents, wisdom, and freedom--is dangerous to lesser men and infuriating to lesser women. Men fear losing cachet in front of their women, or losing their women altogether. Women are either reminded of their pump-and-dumps at the hands of men like you, or get angry that men like you don't (or never did) target a woman like her.

Success begets hate. Period.

People look down on us for being players?

I think they are just pretending to look down on us. I bet that deep down inside their souls, they admire us. They are envious of us for having the balls to live a life that makes us happy. They wanna be out chasing girls and having fun but they can't. They are trapped. Trapped in their own beta lives or trapped in a relationship with one woman.

I see the look on their faces when I walk in with a cute college girl. They try to sneak peeks at my girl when their wife isn't looking. I feel sorry for them. If they criticize us, its because they are trying make themselves feel better about their chosen lifestyle.

I bet these guys talk shit about the Roosh Forum and then they go jerk off on Youporn. Don't get mad at us because we want the real thing.

Ofcourse, they are just jealous. Can't be more "beta" than that. Although i'm also a serious guy but I simply love different woman at a time and one day i'll probably settle down with one but not now, don't have enough time.

This reminds me of a similar post I saw about explaining game to your beta friends. I tried once to explain some of the most basic concepts to my friend, and he seemed really interested. I was about to tell him about Roissy and Roosh when he asked, "This isn't one of those misogynist sites is it?"

I just shook my head and dropped it. It really is something you just have to seek and embrace on your own.

I don't think it is related to how conservative the culture is. It is more about hypocrisy, and from your description you missed some important things - people who (quietly) believe in something but don't do it themselves aren't hypocrites, this is actually a good thing. What makes them hypocrites is when they state in public they believe in something, and ask/push others to enforce, support or accept those beliefs - while at the same time explicitly not following those beliefs.

The culture per se is much less conservative in America comparing to Europe. In Europe there is a set of specific rules (different between countries). They are not law, but everyone knows them, and most people follow them. For example, it is very hard for a non-natives, or natives from different background to get hired into most companies. Everyone pretends there are no rules, but everyone follows them.

This situation is different in America - there are many different sets of rules, and most people ignore them. When confronted, they pretend they follow them, but left alone, they do their things.

Also remember how important monogamy was for a social order with the blossoming populations in the world. Men that don't get pussy are angry men that don't play ball and won't follow any orders. It's only more convenient overall if you want a male workforce working 8 hours a day.

Nowadays life is more complex and although I'm sure that monogamy works for SOME type of people (like does religion, or psychology or whatever) it IS wrong when people criticize players out of fear, envy, pettyness or lack of guts. You'll notice how couples that are really happy and sure of what they're doing will be the ones not to criticize and feel more fortunate themselves. Only the insecure will be the petty ones.
