I also don't watch TV, she's got all these shows she watches and talks about, that I have no idea about. It really comes down to you and your personality. I don't fit into American culture so relating to the women is so much more difficult. I can relate to a non-English speaking European or South American girl better than I can to an American girl. So while Miami may be more difficult than other cities, for me, this is a US problem. Also, to me, even the attractive American girls I find unattractive because they are just so masculine. They may dress sexy but everything else about them is masculine.
I don't think the reason you find American women unappealing is a cultural one. A lot of the guys on this forum are men who have lived in America pretty much their entire lives but have complaints similar to yours. At a deeper, instinctual level, I think all men find the big attitudes, big egos, and cold masculinity of American women unappealing because it isn't feminine. A couple generations of social conditioning isn't going to undo what our hindbrains have responded to for thousands of years.
Regarding the excessive talk about television shows, that's why I made a point of addressing how isolating it is in my previous post. All the women I know are keeping tabs on tons of garbage television that I've never even heard of. When I asked myself where they're getting the time to do all of this, that's when I realized they're spending a vast majority of their free time just being on their asses in front of the TV. Marketers in American have long known that women consume more television than men and that's why advertising caters to them so much. I'm sure one of the reasons it's difficult for guys to meet women here is the sheer amount of time they spend isolated watching TV instead of going out and doing things that put them in proximity to men.

I totally feel you on this. I really don't have any connection to American pop culture. I don't watch television AT ALL. I rarely go to the movies. May Netflix or rent something if a girl is over, but I'm not compelled to run out and see all the latest blockbusters. I don't watch sports. I don't keep up with celebrity gossip and who is dating who, it just doesn't interest me. I'm not interested in watching the MTV or AMA music awards or any of that stuff people like to discuss around a water cooler. I think this is one of the reasons that talking to a foreign woman can be like a breath of fresh air. She doesn't have any of those cultural references to talk about, so we can talk about other things.

RE: Ignorance is bliss - happiness in America
Interesting thread. Some great posts on here.
I actually agree strongly with Nomad77 because before I started work in an office post college I already had lived abroad for a year in southern europe and asia plus lots of travel in SA. After my time abroad I had trouble connecting with my office peers and their TV, sports, materialism obsessions and I also found I hated spending time around American women(I made do with dating foreign women). I lasted about 2 years in the US post college and have been abroad since then some 4 years now. Like VV I will do everything in my power to make it work abroad because it is vital to my happiness. One of the reasons I can connect so well with the members of this forum is because I dont feel like I have to explain why I choose to live as an expat. Its very hard to explain to people why I like country X more than the US because most people are so worried that they could be making the wrong decisions about their life it is very uncomfortable for someone else to tell them a new life in Country X might be better than life in the US. Everyone needs to find their way in the world but I consider myself blessed to have experienced the benefits of life abroad at an early age as I couldn´t imagine having to wait to by 40´s or 50´s to discover LA, SEA and Europe.

RE: Ignorance is bliss - happiness in America
Nomad, I am with you but there is a catch to this - if you can get a good girl, with good values, from a good family, in America, then you literally have the best of all possible worlds. A great country, a great girl, and great $$$$.
But, like you said, finding a quality girl in America is a painstaking process. Right now I find good relationship material once every 2 years or so. It's so much fucking work.
I think at some point, all men will say, "Fuck it," and just pack their shit and leave, even if it means having to deal with culture shock.

Once you get to your mid to late 20s it's pretty much impossible to have close friends unless they're your co-workers. Everyone just kind of has their own little bubble and that's it.
Even if you try to attend bullshit like networking or singles events it seems like the interaction is really forced and everyone is just trying to manipulate each other or show off how much better they are.
No difference to Western Europe and probably many other parts of the world. As you grow older, you become self-complacent and more close-minded. Inertia and a lower drive to socialize with new people are the natural consequences.
I even daresay that it is easier to make new friends at an advanced age in the US than in Europe. America despite all of its grave flaws still possesses a distinct civic culture that gives you a fair chance as a newcomer and that allows you to excite people with good ideas. For instance: Coming from a country where small talk is often frowned upon, I think the general "chit chat"-culture I experienced in the US has an intrinsic value that translates into social dynamics that you can't get in Sweden, Germany, Poland or Russia. In these countries people are more openly suspicious of each other whereas I found it a thousand times easier to quickly integrate into social circles in the US.
Nonetheless, I can only repeat what others have said earlier: Don't immigrate to another country just because of the women. Thousands of stunning models in Belarus and Ukraine while you have set up your location independent business? Fine, but it won't make everything better when corruption, bad infrastructure, shitty weather, boring provincial culture and unfriendly people quash all quality of life.

A lot of guys on here will tell you to go to South America, Europe, and Asia because the women are so much nicer but what do you think will happen when you return? You will be forever discontented with the women here and then what? You will be forever unhappy. The worse thing I ever did was living in Brazil and Europe. Now, it takes a tremendous effort to put up with American women. I can barely tolerate them.
There is an old saying: ignorance is bliss and it's very true. My friends that have never left this country are much happier than I am. Because this is all they know! So really, don't travel and meet foreign women, sure it will be fun while you are there but you are going to be miserable once you come back. And since you will have to live most of your life here you might as well never know what exist elsewhere because then you will just be unhappy. That knowledge that there are better women out there will forever keep you in a state of discontentment. So before you rush off to those foreign countries with their feminine women, think really hard about it. Because I can tell you, there have been many a times, I wish I had never gone and had just remained ignorant but some happy with my lot here.
There is another saying - about Brazil: there are two kinds of men, those dreaming of going there and those dreaming of returning. I was the first and now I am the second. But even Brazil is changing...
If the Russian girl is so great as you make it out to be, why was she talking to you in the first place if she's got a BF, AND she's smoking. Looks like you have a bit of "pink goggles" as us German speaking people say.
There's this weird feeling about US Americans that no matter where they'll go, they'll have to eventually come back to live in America. I don't get it. America isn't THAT great besides the possibility to make insane amount of money (IF you are in the 1%). Everything else regarding standart of living, for example, is easily outrun by Europe.
