I don't agree with him being fired. Society has reached the point where people have to relentlessly self-censor themselves.

Between the NSA spying on all our communications, advocacy groups like the Anti-Defamation League and Southern Poverty Law Center keeping lists of people engaged in "hate speech, and corporations only too happy to fire anyone attracting unwanted attention, free speech has become obsolete.

A couple recent examples.

There was a story about how a girl killed herself in solitary confinement. Someone said we should adopt a system where prisoners get paid and then pay their own way.

Second one was about concessions to get the keystone pipeline approved. Someone went on some rant about climate change.

"There are four seasons. It would be foolhardy to deny that the climate does change."

There's also the workplace and personal life. Dude had his company all over his twitter thing. So it looks like he is representative of his companies policies? Again, he signed an employee agreement and brought "bitch" drama into the workplace. That never works out. Management deals with enough of that in house. Seeing where this thread is now, I think it's fucked up he got fired but from a business standpoint I can see why BI made the decision (which was likely for business, not moral, reasons). Once the momentum to get rid of a guy at an organization where he is perceived to be offensive to the tastes of members of its audience and/or sponsors, the battle is already lost. The juice is no longer worth the squeeze for them to support the guy from a financial perspective. They are just too vulnerable to public pressure.

Luckily for the guy who got axed, he probably has valuable skills that are in great demand for him to either do his own thing (which is probably what he wants personally) or to get picked up by someone else. He's in a good place and it probably is better for him - in the long run - that he's not working for a company like BI (which I assume is publicly owned).

When these cunts get too involved with who's going to work where and people start getting fired more I hope they realize they are going to have to do the work themselves. When shit needs to get done you can't schedule three doctors appointments a week during business hours and take hour lunches.

There's little to no margin for error for white males in powerful roles, especially C-level execs, in Corporate America today. I just read the guy's actual tweets. If his goal was to remain employed at BI, then he certainly fucked that up for himself. I would feel this way if this was some sort of isolated incident. But personal vilification and indirect economic warfare (boycotts, firings, etc.) against individuals is quickly becoming the default tactic for dealing with contrary opinions and speech you don't like.
