For example, Spanish is the third spoken language in the world by total number of speakers, but unless you plan going to Latin America, it makes no sense to learn it. Mandarin Chinese is #1 only because China has 1 BIllion people, I don't think Mandarin is useful anywhere outside of China or if youre nto into business.

English, Spanish, German (especially if you know wide variety of germanic languages), French, Portuguese, Russian. French and Portuguese mostly because of africa, if you're into going to warzones. Mandarin Chinese is useless unless you live in China. English is obviously #1 though.

Anywhere in the Western world you would be best served to speak English and Spanish. Hell even just in the USA and Canada English and Spanish are important if you like exotic pssy.

I would say the 3 most important language are: English / Spanish / French

Germany didn't have so much colonies as France
Same for Italy

Also a lot of people from Romania, Poland and other EE countries speak French.

From what I understand, German is the second most spoken language after English in Europe. Meaning not mother language, but second most known as in mother language, second language, third, and so on.

I can understand why Spanish (although it would have zero value for me), but French? Unless you go to Quebec, France or some countries in Africa where else you gonna use it?

I am fluent in Spanish since I was a pup as my mother is from Spain. I started learning Portuguese at the age of 16 when I started banging a Brazilian girl (she was 24) who did not speak a word of English, and was illegally in the country - what an experience she was!

I moved to Miami in my very early 20's, and noticed a huge Brazilian community in Fort Lauderdale/Pompano Beach area - most do not speak English and teh ones that do, are just learning English - so, I started banging a Paulistana =)

Within 3 years I spoke intermediate level Portuguese. I then decided to completely integrate with Brazilian culture, and traveled to Brazil for 5 month trips at a time the following 4 years.

10 years later, I can understand every word in Portuguese that any local Brazilian can. =)


Now, I could have picked up the language a lot quicker, but it took me a good 3 years (practicing moderately every other day) to be at the intermediate level without any formal lessons or tutoring.

Today, I guess it would take 2 years of formal lessons/tutoring to pick up another language. Given that you use modern technology: Podcasts, free internet lessons/forums. meetup groups, bang a few native girls of teh language you want to learn etc.

Yes, I do...but only at an intermediate (Junior HIgh School) level like an 8th grade. I can write enough to chat with girls, make 'em wet, have an argument etc. However, I do not know enough to write/read a legal contract 100% for example.

I'm starting to see the importance of learning Russian. It's spoken throughout the Soviet block. I think the "stan" countries could be a gold mine but English is hardly existent there. Might be easier to hire a terp.

Yep you're right.
English (34%) is the most widely known language besides the mother tongue followed by German (12%) and French (11%).
So only 1% difference.

A lot of African countries speak French:

And I think French is easier to learn than German and would work better with girls IMO

I would learn Russian, so you can speak a slavic language, a romance language and a germanic language. I can tell you that slavic languages are very hard and Russian use the Cyrillic alphabet. It's also very useful in Estonia and Latvia.

These languages are characterized by palatalizations (sounds such as ch, sh, zh) and a few palatal consonants (the sounds nj, lj, rj). All languages recognize the numbers singular and plural, as well as three genders: masculine, feminine and neuter. There are at least six noun cases, sometimes seven: nominative, accusative, dative, genitive, instrumental, locative, and vocative. Russian does not have the vocative case and sometimes calls the locative case "prepositional.

You don't need to learn the alphabet. Sure it would be nice to, but it is not necessary. I know people who speak fluent Thai and Russian, but cannot read either of them.

For online chatting you can write Russian words using English transliteration, i.e. "privet". You may be surprised, but a lot of native Russians communicate this way too. Some don't have the fonts set up, some don't have Russian symbols on the keyboard, and some are just too lazy to switch the keyboard layout.
