I'm too vain to not sport a full head of hair.. Genetically I should have been bald, given the history of my family, but chose to take propecia instead. It was always a little more important to look in my eyes a little moe aesthetically pleasing with longer hair styles, and have maybe a little less nut

It seems like it makes you stand out in places where nobody has short hair, but I see guys with military fades or buzzed heads everywhere I go. I just keep my hair short because it's wavy and frizzy, it looks good with a goatee. I don't think I'll ever go Bic bald, just a 1/2 or 1.

I've got long hair but it's noticeably starting to thin and I don't think there's much I can do about it that I know of. I already take zinc but that's not helping, and I can't afford propecia (plus i hear that can fuck you up far worse than being bald). My brother went bald in his early twenties. I always kind of considered that "end game" for me, especially since i have a more olive complexion. I'm only 24 and even though it's not all that noticeable, it's probably the biggest obstacle to my inner game right now, that and my fucked-up living situation. Since I'm already hitting the gym hard, and I do come off more sternly due to my facial features, it gives me hope that I won't look like shit when I'm 30.

Don't get too depressed. Hair loss does not proceed at a constant rate. During spells of high stress it can fall like the leaves in autumn. Other times it can seem to almost plateau for months and years. In other words, don't be surprised if you're not bald when you're 30. You'll have less hair but quite possibly more than you think.

I figured I'd be bald by now, since I started losing my hair when I was 20 and it's now 12 years later. Still have hair and in fact girls are surprised if I ever say I have a receding hairline.

You will always look better with a full head of hair. But, if you are balding it is best to get rid of all of it if you have the right shape head. I was balding and it made me look older. I shaved that shit off and started getting a lot more attention and people had a hard time judging my age. You got to maximize the cards you're dealt with and not dwell on the shit you can't control.

I don't really know what women in general think, but I've had a few request that I grow my hair back out just once so they can see how I'd look.

Personally, I think being bald does make me look slightly more menacing. I'm black and wear a goatee with mine so I'm on some straight Marvin Hagler or Hawk from Spencer For Hire with my look and mindset.

You can control it to some extent.

You would be surprised what a good hair transplant doctor can do.

RE: Bald = Dominant?
Started receding in my early twenties. Then at 34 I went through a divorce and lost my kid and my hair started shedding ridiculously fast,I'd say in a three month period I lost 40% of my density. I tried hiding the fact by changing styles but it's impossible. I used to think about my lack of hair constantly and it got me down but then I thought fuck it,and just shaved it all of. A bald head doesn't really suit me but fuck it,I have loads of other things in life to be thankful for.

I think my success has gone up since I shaved it off,not because I look better but because I now don't worry or even think about my hair so I'm more confident. It's all good.

Not really, maybe short term but from my understanding you will constantly need to go back for touch ups and probably be on drugs for a pretty long time in order to stay off more hair loss.

I can't imagine how much donor hair they can get throughout the years.

Personally, it doesn't matter to me enough to go through all that shit when I enjoy having a shaved head just as much.

You are thinking about people that due small areas and still have some hair to lose. Assuming they went to a top flight doctor the only reason they would need touch ups is if the medicine wasnt working and they lost more hair. Once the hairline and top are gone thats it, as we dont lose hair from our sides and back (donor area). Assuming you have lost all your hair from the front and top you will not have to go back for touch ups nor will you have to take any medicine.

Only downside and issue with that is we only have a limited amount of hair from the sides and back to transplant. So results and mileage will vary from person to person. Although the best doctors can generally give you pleasant results (alot better than having no hair) with pretty much everyone, so long as you have atleast average amount of "donor" hair. Generally speaking most people have between 3,000 - 6,000 follicles/graphs of hair that can be transplanted.

That is exactly what I am talking about. Unless completely bald on top, you will need to go back.

What is the success rate for each transplant? I would imagine not all follicles transplanted live to tell the tale.

Not necessarily. Each persons baldness is different in some aspect. (degree, progressiveness, ect) Likely you could have one treatment done and take some meds and not have to ever go back.

Each doctor varies. Go to a shit surgeon and you might get shit results. Go to a top HT Surgeon and your success rate goes up 10 fold. Doctor Rahal in Toronto for example, you can't even hardly find one negative review on him on the internet. 95% of his patients are satisfied with his results.

Standard pricing is 3-6 dollars per graph.

Most people get between 2,000 - 6,000 graphs

You do the math

It used to be that only black dudes could get away with being bald without people thinking they are on chemo. I'm glad the style is now acceptable for everyone. I always thought clean, shiny dome + goatee look was sharp.

I think middle eastern looking dudes look also good bald. In my opinion there isn't even a black guy who look as good bald as Chris Daughtry. His headshape and facial features are made for baldness.

I'm glad to see that people are now starting to preface their advice with "if you have the right shape of head". Otherwise it's all just too polyana.

I don't have the right shape of head. And I can't even grow a mustache - or even a decent goatee.

For some guys the only solution is a hat, and other compensating traits.

I'm an inverted triangle, so completely shaved doesn't work well for me.

Unfortunately I'm getting thinner and thinner up top so completely bald may be coming soon even though it's not ideal.
