RE: The Andrew Yang thread
I like this guy because he's even more unicorn-tier than Trump.
Imagine if he got elected. He would make the hostility Trump gets from both sides of the house and senate look like picnic day at the park. Trump didn't have the cojones to go cage-match with the deep state so sure as hell Yang wont, but there's enormous benefit in showing the reasonable folks remaining on the other side of the aisle that the deep state will fuck their candidate's mandate just as hard as they fucked Trump's.
One step closer to the 1776.
The public will judge a man by what he lifts, but those close to him will judge him by what he carries.

I don't think a democrat majority would go against him on most things; cutting the federal gov't will be a tough one though. This is just one of like 50 issues he has on his website and it's not some signature platform for him or anything. He wants to do UBI and Medicare For All; most democrats will support that and even some republicans if viewed as a welfare reduction/consolidation program (for UBI).
And I highly doubt Yang will EVER see the hostility that Trump has seen from Congress. Trump has basically insulted everyone, talked a big game while cock slapping anyone in his presence, and then begged those same people to pretty please make a deal with him. I don't see Yang doing that.
In any case, it's a Win-Win for me:
1000 bucks a month and a good platform.
OR
Everyone realizes the game is rigged and the revolt starts.

RE: The Andrew Yang thread
One of the themes that's been rolling around my head today after PPT's uncharacteristically emotional attack is how the entire premise of America was quite deliberately altered some time around the 80's.
It was during that time that there was a hard cultural push away from America being "the land of the free and the home of the brave" to "the land of opportunity". Freedom was perverted into pure capitalism around about that time to the extent that many people still believe the two are synonymous.
"The land of opportunity" meme was the birth of breakneck-speed immigration, because as presented by the (((cultural pimps))) "opportunity" meant "if you want to come here and do the same job for less money than the people already here then that makes you a better person than them". The majority of immigrants were not PPT's or guys like his dad. They were just there to undercut the native lower classes because it was still better than living in the shitholes they came from. This might mean that they had to run cabs with shitty brakes and bald tires or cram 15 people to a room against regulations so they could outbid a native for rent or simply do half their work off the book, because in a hyper-capitalist society the one kind of capital nobody bothers to talk about is social capital.
This is entirely by design. If you froze a million 1950's era Americans and unfroze them today then they probably wouldn't recognize the country nor would they want to live there. Sure, you can still make a shitload of money in America but most people don't give a shit if they have a pathway to be able to get massively rich. They just want to start a family in a safe neighbourhood and not have themselves and their wives work their fingers to the bone while never seeing their kids just to have a house and two cars like their grandparents did on one salary.
There is America, the land of the free and the home of the brave, and there there is America, the land of opportunity. It's pretty clear what the latter is turning out to be. Capitalism is only freedom until the capital is concentrated enough for the oligarchy to do as it pleases and replace anyone who gets in their way, which is why the whole "land of opportunity" nonsense was created and pushed so hard in the first place.
Yang isn't going to stop immigration and might make it worse, but accelerationism gives the parts of America which are still the home of the brave and the lands of the free a fighting chance to collapse the plans of the oligarchs who first pushed that bullshit "land of opportunity" invitation to every third world serf who gladly arrived and turned America into the same third world race-to-the-bottom that they came from.
I don't give a shit if Pajeet is willing to eat dogfood, live in a carboard box and do my job for pennies on the dollar. That does not make him a better Australian than me because being a decent Australian is certainly not about enriching the oligarchs to the greatest degree possible and lionizing the suffering of the peasantry as "the sacred outcome of our beloved free market principles".
Capitalism is not the enlightened point of contact between man and God. It's a race to dissolve all bonds between man and God that can be bought and sold for the net profit of a single red cent.
The public will judge a man by what he lifts, but those close to him will judge him by what he carries.

What good is wealth, if I can't use it to rub in the face of the poor?
It's ironic the the creator of the "Positivity/Good News only Lounge" told us all to go get fucked . True colors revealed.
Ironic indeed but a low blow. I agree with a lot of your posts, but can't agree here.
The 'Positivity' thread is a great thread where people have an outlet to share their zest and delight. PT is still actively participating after 38 pages and nearly 2 years later.
I've reaped good wisdom from both of you.
People disagree about politics. People get ruffled and pop off. PT has helped a lot of people in that thread and countless others.
I don't think everyone should go get fucked either but also wouldn't be so quick to condemn or suggest a mini-meltdown are his 'true colors'.

Then the forum would turn on Yang? BTW this guy reminds me of Litecoin founder who sold at the high (good for him).
What is the better message?
"Yeh, we don't like that you lied to us but we won't hold you accountable and vote for you again so you can get away with your lies."
Or
"You don't keep your promises then we will vote your ass out no matter who is running against you."
These politicians are caught lying before an election (see Veritas) and they still win. All because we are conditioned to think "aw shucks, all politicians lie" and are too lazy to actually vote them out.
I bet we would have better candidates if we didn't give them this blind loyalty. Hey our guy is bad, but that other party will make things much worst for you so vote for our guy.
We will never get our country back if we continue doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. Insert insanity quote here. Everything Trump has done can be undone very fast. Just like he did to Obama. I was hoping that Trump would buy us some time. He isn't even able to do that.
Yang has 4 years to get me my 1000 bucks. If he doesn't, I will vote for the next candidate that promises me something shiny. Instead of debates, I want one of those auctions where each candidate will up what they are willing to pay. Do I hear a Obama phone? Anyone, Yang goes for $1000 bucks. Anyone $1000 bucks and free cheese? Anyone?

In my view, Trump did not lie or change, he was not able to deliver because of Congress, for example on the wall, going even to the extent of shutting down the government for the longest time ever. So that does not qualify for trying? Trump did not start a foreign war either, banned Muslims from certain countries, signed an executive order to try to build the wall with another method, refused to pursue immigration protection for Salvadorians and Haitians and many others, what exactly are we saying he did not do again?
So I guess what I'm saying is that even another guy would not be able to do everything he promises because of the separation of powers.
Maybe if an alternative to Trump existed, electable, this could be a good idea to turn on Trump. I'm not sure someone from the Democratic party as it exists now qualifies for that, at least not in 2020. That person would not be able to deliver for conservatives or for men in general either. That 1000$ a month, if it happens, would be nothing compared to the extreme cultural harm for men with the Democrats in power. Unless we are talking about only getting 1000$ per month here and not the best for the country.
To get the country back, I think you need 60 GOP senators, House and Senate. Difficult, but not impossible.

Could be real, could be fake, hard to tell.
Sorry bout that, seem to be disinformation, jumped on it as it add fuel to my hatred of certain people but seem like it's all over the internet (4ch, reddit and others...) and too many incongruencies to be true
Still some people are pushing for yang strongly everywhere I look
Tell them too much, they wouldn't understand; tell them what they know, they would yawn.
They have to move up by responding to challenges, not too easy not too hard, until they paused at what they always think is the end of the road for all time instead of a momentary break in an endless upward spiral
