I've heard the rumor is, if it's a major hit, CM will almost single-handedly beat Thanos. If it's a flop, she'll barely be involved. She might fly in at the last minute and grab the glove for someone else to use.

I've further heard that they're hoping it beats the original Captain America movie from 8 years ago. That movie cost less to produce, cost a LOT less to advertise and made $370ish before TV rights and home market. It made $118 in the home market which is better than most Marvel movies.

If it beats a $65 weekend and breaks $400 worldwide, they can claim a victory (even if the movie loses money), lick their wounds and start making bank off Avengers and Spiderman 2.

It should prove to be interesting how it all fairs in the end.
It is a MCU / Marvel film, so a lot of people will go see it simply because - MCU. Even though they may have no idea of Carol Danvers nor Brie Larson.
However, akin to Soylo, this is the first MCU film with a concerted level of disinterest / negativity.
While also receiving mass mediocre reviews...

I don't doubt the fake news / blue check crowd will triple-down wherever they can to defend Captain Misandrist.

Here's what I dug up on this, although reported in more then one site it's still unconfirmed.

https://www.redstate.com/brandon_morse/2...ky-future/

Quote:ImLeaking adds, “They excluded Captain Marvel from Infinity War but had to include the character on Endgame. Just to shut off this matter, the Captain Marvel rant we are seeing today was expected by Disney. Their social media numbers projected the CM movie to face challenges and they ordered from everyone involved to prepare for two cuts: one with the original CM plan, another cutting down the character’s participation in case Captain Marvel flops.”

They even point to conflicts between Brie Larson and Marvel Studios, “This created huge conflicts between Brie Larson’s agency and specially Marvel Studios. They went as far as to shoot some of the very same Captain Marvel action scenes with Captain America and Black Widow replacing the character in an attempt to keep the inflated budget down.”

They also described Larson’s behavior, “Brie Larson treats everyone well but she’s very contesting and she contested the hell out of this decision, until Marvel Studios was forced to shoot those scenes in different days, which resulted in more spending.”

There's more juicy rumours in the article that the cast of Avengers were unhappy with Larson being parachuted in as the new Mary-Sue goddess, but again it's all unconfirmed.

I think it would have been crazy of Marvel Studios to not plan for the eventuality that Captain Marvel could bomb and film alternate scenes for Endgame, so this seems quite plausible to me.

I must admit, if there is a scene of Captain Marvel defeating Thanos single-handed and it is NOT used, I hope it gets leaked out so the woke-ites go utterly insane with their cries of "misogyny!!!"

CM apparently cost $152 mil.
It will require about $450 mil to be profitable.
Whereas Solo only managed $393 mil when folk were actively avoiding it.

Mediocre reviews and fan backlash aside, Captain Marvel will still be a decent if not large financial success. You have to keep in mind that despite the propaganda and poor filming it's not a total disaster like for example Ghostbusters was, that it's the first failed movie in the franchise ever, and that loyal audiences take a long time to wise up and react.

The Last Jedi was still amazingly successful despite its feminist idiocy and despite following the shitshow that was The Force Awakens, Solo almost pulled even despite the previous two shitshows, and now despite as many as three shitshows in a row, even some grizzled forum members are still rationalizing how they'll go see it just for the sake of nostalgia or to be informed about it (seriously guys, what the fuck? tard).

If this trend continues, expect financial pain for Marvel/Disney to begin no sooner than 2021, when the audiences will finally snap and seriously take out all of their frustrations on an unlucky minor superhero.

My take on TFA / Last Jedi / Solo is that people went and saw Last Jedi in spite of TFA being average at best and word of mouth being bad just because it's a mainline Star Wars film, got burned and then didn't watch Solo.

I don't think people will have the same kind of innate 'trust' (so to speak) in the quality of Capt. Marvel, especlally with Brie Larson screeching everywhere beforehand.

That didn't take long, it's already on bootleg sites. Wouldn't be surprised if the studio released a cam copy themselves to give a reason for poor opening numbers.

The film was OK. Too many jokes at the expense of men. And the character’s powers finally manifest with the snap of a finger and skip straight to God Mode.

If you plan on seeing this movie, then at least have a little backbone and buy a ticket to another movie and walk into this one. Every ticket you buy to this trash is telling Disney/Marvel: "Please keep putting in your SJW politics in your movies and I will continue to give you my money".

Otherwise, skip this garbage. Every cent you give these communists just helps their cause. Take a stand.

Also, I find it funny that feminists/white knights are now using 'incel' as an insult for everybody who trashes this movie. Do these fucking idiots even realize what they are saying? Basically a man's worth is measured on how many women he fucks? For once we agree.

Thanks for the tip.
Now I can say, it's over-all, a rather poorly made film (screenplay, script, editing). They should have called it : Captain Meh-vel.

Ofcourse Marvel will have a big role in Endgame, her signal button was pressed at the end where people were being dusted. It implies she is needed because no-one else can do it.

I also want to know why she is clenching her fists in almost every picture there is of her. Is that lesbian signalling? Laugh

As a rule, I don't go to see corporate franchise movies, so I would never see this.

But I think there is a larger issue here. What the hell happened to people that their lives revolve around superhero movies like they're still a bunch of 5-year-olds? How did we regress to this?

When I was in my teens and twenties, the desire of my friends and I was to see thoughtful movies, like Woody Allen's "Crimes And Misdemeanors" or "The World According To Garp" or even "When Harry Met Sally."

There were also comedies with a message, like "The Flamingo Kid," "Revenge Of The Nerds," and "Big."

Am I missing something or do they not make movies like that anymore? Movies now seem to be either big productions aimed at global audiences or simplistic didactic dramas with the theme "White Man Bad!"

At least I have online access to old films I missed back in the day. Because nothing in the theaters ever compels me to go anymore.

I have read the leaked Avengers script, and it looks really good. But if Cap'n Marvel ends up being a Diva Ex Machina, that'd be really annoying.

Just embroidering on what DOBA said: you're better off looking a few decades back, or even earlier, than anything coming out of Disney or Marvel these days.

I look at the ads for this movie and think I'd have a better time just watching Alien, The Rocketeer, or the first two Terminators on a Saturday. Why should I pay to see an obvious and inferior cocktail of those movies when I can just open the vintage stuff and savor it on my own time? At least with Alien I know Sigourney Weaver is going to have bigger shit to worry about than the Gender Wage Gap or a biker telling her to "smile."

(Which is an actual scene in Captain Marvel, by the way. Seeing it in reviews already.)

Or hey, you want to see (God help you) a Thor movie? Go watch Conan the Barbarian, Mysterious Island (1961) or Jason and the Argonauts. There's more tension and dread in this scene:

...than in any movie where Chris Hemsworth or Robert Downey Jr. has to glare at some generic CGI ugly that you know he's going to kill in about a minute with zero effort, because modern audiences don't have attention spans worth shit and the major studios all know that.

And of course, while older movies might not have the budget of a Marvel or Disney flick, they're stories untroubled by focus groups or Twitter screech mobs. Nobody raised hell about the lack of transgender aromantic orangutans in Planet of the Apes, know what I mean? You're more likely to get something that gets into the meat of a good tale the farther back from Current Year you look. Hit those archives, boys.

RE: Boycott Brie Larson's, Marvel's MCU film - Captain Marvel.
That's another problem with MCU content.

Like those older films. The OG Marvel characters were also largely derived from the 60's, 70' & 80's.

Fortunately. For those of us who like those OG Marvel characters, the MCU started in a fashion more reminiscent of the older iterations of those characters.
Yet now, it seems the SJW manifestation of the comics is oozing into the films, so yeah, unless money manic Disney actively stop the subversion, I figured the MCU would largely lose the plot* post Endgame, once those OG Marvel characters are less involved or gone entirely.

*Heh pun.

It got memory holed pretty hard, didn't it? But it's funny, you think back to Rocketeer and you realize just how much all the Marvel flicks of today still owe to it.

And let's be real, Jennifer Connelly was peak WB in that movie.

It is a touch surprising that they kept Carol Danvers at the 'rank' of Captain.
They usually want to one up what they copy, so they could readily have gone with - Major Marvel.

Desperately Seeking Susan was a cinematic masterpiece that perfectly captured the zeitgeist of the mid-late 80s unlike any other movie and most consider it dogshit. If they rereleased it in the theater I would happily spend $20 to see it in imax 3D over any of this comic book shit.
