Maybe stopping Saddam prevented a Hitler 2.0. But at least we know Saddam wouldn't have tolerated ISIS or any radical Islamic groups.

But the U.S. had the draw the line because if they didn't stop Iraq other countries could had done similar annexations on neighborhoods (although Russia did it years ago to Ukraine without U.S. responding).

Bush Sr. never went after Saddam because he knew why Saddam was in existence from jumpstreet. Saddam had the 4th largest military at his peak and he was a massive check on Iranian theocracy and stabilized more than a few areas in the region with sheer intimidation. Saddam was essentially a CIA asset. Bush Sr. just had to slap his hand when he tried to invade the oil rich neighbors. The slap was received and the issue was squashed.

He even spoke about why it would be stupid to invade Iraq. He cited, no local support, bad urban fighting, would destabilized the region.

Only his son was stupid enough to be tricked by a gaggle of rich oil buddies from Texas into invading the country for no good reason, thus causing the majority of Islamic terror issues we have today. You can likely credit him with causing the Muslim influx in Europe when you think about it.

Bush Sr's was the longest marriage in US presidential history.

In terms of LTR he certainly got the job done.

He does not look high T, Bush Sr, but he seemed to have no problems being happy. Maybe this blind religious faith takes up brain parts other people use to think about sex, maybe Bush Sr was too busy with work, family and so on.

Anyway, his 66 year marriage to Barbara, by all accounts happy and graceful is his greatest achievement in my view.

He met her around 1940 so if you had any grandparents from that WW2 generation, you already know how down to earth, tough, and humble that generation was. Very old fashioned and usually very religious. When you talk to people that lived through the Dust Bowl and Great Depression you instantly think these are the toughest sons of bitches you have ever met. Tougher than any cage fighter you know. All these people on both sides of my own families complained the least compared to any younger generations. The difference is extremely noticeable.

I wonder if Mr.Lemon has some good stories he could share. Since he is so much older than us, likely he knew many more people of this generation especially the women like Barbara.

Barbara certainly seemed like a sweeter woman than her ice-hockey player features would have one believe. At one point she said on Bush Sr holding her during her dark nights of struggling with expression 'I was almost wondering why he didn't leave me'...what a sweet woman she was.
