The NYT is the dreadful central clearinghouse of party line progg and feminist cant. This has been the case for a long time, and has become much more relentless and fanatical since the Jill Abramson hag took over.

For this reason, I read it quite a bit. I want to be apprised of just which way the cant winds are blowing and whether there are subtle shifts in emphasis and rhetoric.

Right now I sense a kind of long-term tense hush. They think that things are lining up well for Hillary I, and they don't want anything to mess it up.

If and when Hillary I actually happens, the NYT will be intense. It will be their absolute apogee, and there will be a bizarre and unprecedented level of triumph, glee and contentment emanating from every pixel of the screen, as it were. The Hagsreich shall be immanent. It will be a sight to behold, and some part of me looks forward to this orgy of hard-mindedness.

Until then, one sits back and takes in one's daily dose of boomer bereavement/"Sandy" porn for what it's worth.

No. Crichton is talking about erroneous information itself.

'Inverted pyramid' format refers to the order of information in an article -- More of the important information at the beginning and lesser information towards the end.
That way, if the piece needs editing for space, cutting from the end will still leave the important stuff at the beginning.

I make it a point to avoid the opinion section of any newspaper.

I prefer the Christian Science Monitor myself when it comes to news. They're a bit slow since they don't have the big resources of a CNN or New York Times but they've always had high quality when it comes to their articles and they've always avoided sensationalism. Personally I think news should be dry and dull as hell. That's why I avoid publications such as the New York Post (which is no doubt the worst mainstream paper out there) and also online media such as Huffington Post or Gawker.

The NYT is better than any other paper of record at hiding the real story from their reporting. The first paragraph of pretty much any article of theirs I read is spent burying the lede under a mountain of "proper mindedness" to control how people are allowed to discuss things in civil conversation.

They are against us because they will actively control public discourse over issues to serve the interests of their ideology.

Soup, in what ways does the NYT suck to you? Give some examples. If you mean that it sucks because it went online, or because some articles are below average, I have to disagree. I do see a decline in the overall quality of all newspapers, but that's another story.

The legacy of NYT is pretty amazing compared to other mainstream publications that have fallen from grace, Rolling Stone for example.

A Rape on Campus did Rolling Stone in and although they're still around no one mentions or quotes from them in the fake stream media any more.

The NYT however, despite all the ongoing propaganda and blatantly biased condemnation of whites, conservatives and Trump beginning in 2015 to present, are still going strong.

When people ask, "how are they still around?" Just follow the money folks. NYT's legacy is FOR SALE.
And just like The Amazon Post, the owners of these once trusted publications have purchased more than just a legacy and its influence, they've purchased an army of useful idiots who live, breath and fight by the creed these publications print. The metropolitan brainwashing starts young, is legitimized during university and pushed into actionable activism (domestic terrorism) after graduation, funded at every level by NGO's.

It's a beautiful circle: the Marxists in the street commit terrorism, the fake stream media prints gospel legitimizing their actions while issuing the next stage of commands in the form of opinion pieces. The Marxists then receive those commands, absorb them into the activist conscious and then head to the streets.

Old post, but to establish some background here, I follow three overtly left-leaning publications as part of my regular media stream: the New York Times, the Atlantic, and High Country News.

High Country News delivers some amazing coverage of the American west that you won't see anywhere else. It has a focus on environmental issues and concern for "the little people", but sometimes it's just too damn interesting, and I appreciate that they take small town life seriously and treat small town problems with respect.

The Atlantic has gone full Buzzfeed in their online content in a desperate bid to churn out material for a daily digital news cycle. However, their print journalism is still important, and the magazine's heritage is worthy of respect. Sometimes, they churn out something truly important and put it on the table in front of people who don't want to hear it, like the "What ISIS Really Wants" cover story a few years ago: https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/arc...ts/384980/

The New York Times has been questionable for years, but remained influential, and I traditionally follow it because I have business ties to the city and want to see what's in it so I know what other people are reading. (Also, the Travel and Cooking sections.) With that said, in recent years, there's been more and more cases of their "hard reporting" not being just partisan, but comically wrong. Increasingly, I'm convinced that the paper is the journalistic equivalent of a nice restaurant serving junk steaks to customers who ordered it well done, because the kitchen staff realizes they won't know any better. Throw in the time-wasting columns like Modern Love, and with the Jeong hire, I think I'm ready to purge it.

I haven't seen the whole context, but with how crazily over-the-top it is, I assume she was playing some kind of edgy bit to impress her friends/followers. She probably bangs whites on the reg.

...but who cares? Even before the latest round of political correctness, I'd have lost my job immediately if I'd found some reason to make jokes like that about, say, African-Americans, Muslims, or Jews. It's too immature, especially for somebody pushing 30. Her credibility is destroyed.

I found the white tweets pretty funny to be honest as a white guy. This is as funny an attempt to trigger white guys as changing the Cleveland Indians to the Cleveland Caucasians. I don't want her fired, because I don't think anyone should be fired over old tweets (I just made a thread about this exact subject) so I'd be a hypocrite wanting her gone. But, it still could be useful to point out leftist logic about going after people for old tweets.

I did a masters at UC Berkeley. At least in 2005, Chad Thundercocks were very rare there and in the Bay Area in general. Honestly, good on her she ever found one to lust after there. Though honestly, even as awful as Berkeley is, a Chad could do much better than her, even if he was completely drunk.

While I have visited the campus once or twice, I do not have much experience with the Harvard student body. I have never met a Harvard Chad in DC, but that could be due to self selection. While it has to be more Chad Thundercocky than Berkeley simply by default, I really don't know. Boston is almost as bad as DC in my experience, so maybe it happened there. Then again, many on the forum disagree. But I would have thought the Harvard Business school would be much more Chad.

For some reason they are making a huge deal about it. Does this really impact your life in any way? The NYT remains trash, and I doubt any of the fans of NYT's News Entertainment (a la wrestling) would drop it over a few silly tweets by their tech editor.

The media matters, but it is better to focus on getting more honest, red-pilled, courageous, unbiased and/or right-wing ideas to the populace, instead of complaining about one [silly] individual is saying.

Since this is the RVF, I guess WB the one on my left, WNB the one on the right.
