I have spend hours listening to older women talking about their IVF procedures and the toll it took on their lives. Additionally, I got to listen in on older women who never conceived grief about what never happened.

The article above is well-written but it makes it sound like a "journey", something that was hard but meaningful. And it includes a happy ending, with the author coming at peace with what happened.

That's not reality. Reality is 99% physical pain and emotional suffering before, during and after the procedure... with no guarantee of a healthy, non-handicapped baby being born.

Despite having to listen to their stories about their suffering for hours, I do not feel pity. Not because their suffering was not significant and painful to watch, because it was.

All the women who told me these stories were on the lower end of the "agreeableness" scale. Verbally dominant, outright combative if something doesn't please them and usually with a sad excuse as a man for a boyfriend.

The reality is that any male child born to them would have to struggle tremendously, maybe for the rest of his life, to transcend an upbringing by such a cold and hard mother. If he is not born with birth defects to begin with.

Ofcourse, when a woman like that indeed got a handicapped child she would wallow in self-pity. They were unable to pay any attention let alone love the suffering and damaged being in her arms. due to their temperament, their own emotional distress being more important to them.

It's truly horrifying to watch.

There is no "happy ending." Writing the article may have been temporarily therapeutic for her, but this is something she will have to deal with for the rest of her life. Things will only get worse as she gets older and all of her friends and family start to dwindle. I've seen this older people I know. Their bitterness and disillusion also starts to isolate them further. Your risk of dementia and Alzheimer's goes up and life starts to seem pointless.

Interesting you should say this. I'm about her age, and know several women who were pregnant in the '90s who did, in fact, abort their babies in their early twenties. Two examples:

The first aborted a future doctor's baby -- despite his pleading. They broke up and he went on to have several kids with another woman (who he married). She's alone eternally.

The second (get this) aborted the baby of a guy who would go on to write screenplays for several movies. One movie, which came out in 1999, would go on to become a landmark teen comedy, which has been endlessly referenced. I'd say the title, but I don't want the guy to find out he had a kid that was aborted through this forum. No idea what the guy is doing today, but the woman is in bad shape -- constantly starting "businesses" that fail.

Anyway, our country got one less future doctor and writer because of these two upper class white women. I should also add that they both claimed "finances" were an issue, yet had scads more money than my folks did at the time I was born.

By the way, Toys R Us just filed for bankruptcy. For years they had supported Planned Parenthood. The running joke is that they helped kill off all their future customers. The older I get, the more I think sayings like that aren't a joke, but the actual truth.

TRU also went full retard in another way just like clear channel / ifartradio did, they were both acquired using a leveraged buyout which in both cases saddled them with so much debt that even though they were turning huge profits those disappeared when paying for interest on that debt.

Those LBOs need to be made illegal, I can't think of any high-profile companies that changed hands with those that survived very long.

Note that nowhere in the article did she take accountability for the choices that led her to being unmarriageable. Not once did she mention wasting time on a pointless career, or being so unpleasant that she drove men away.

Two things that I think are crucial realizations before you're ready for a functional marriage:

1) You don't need a spouse.
2) You don't deserve one.

Combining these two realizations banishes the scarcity mindset and desperate thirst, while simultaneously emphasizing how fortunate you are to find a partner.

This woman is walking around with a massive sense of entitlement which prevents her from ever being joyful.
