It's a weird question. Why do we need to "get" anything out of Africa at all?

To justify black people having such high self-esteem?

Rhodey, Meat Head is African, here's some candid footage of his daily routine:

RE: What do we get out of Africa?
The real question is why do you care so much about Africa and what you get out of it? If you get nothing from it then don't worry about it. It doesn't pertain to or affect you in any way.

Africa does not exist solely for you or any random persons benefit. It's a complex place you've never been to and probably will never go to.

RE: What do we get out of Africa?
E. Michael Jones on stunted African development. Excerpt:

Full interview with Tim Kelly, starts at 2:15 :

Jones talks about the early development model of the Jesuits, which was highly successful in South America going back to the 17th century, when they developed a productive self-dependent economic and cultural system in Paraguay, transcribing the Guarani native language, which went on to become a lingua franca on the continent, boosting trade among the tribes.

He focuses on Tanzania and its decolonization process, after which the infrastructure set up with the help of missionaries was left to rot. The arid Tanzanian landscape is littered with water pumps that have been broken for decades.

Jones discusses the history and role of the missionaries in Africa, making a parallel with the European experience, where our hunter-gatherer ancestors settled around monasteries and acquired their work ethic.

That effort in Africa was stunted by decolonization, where the locals threw the baby out along with the bathwater. That failure of inculcating people in Africa with a work ethic is at the root of the continent's failure to develop.

Quote from the interview:

"There's only one thing worse than socialism, that's African socialism"

“Nothing is more useful than to look upon the world as it really is.”

Yes it 's quite a curious obsessionHuh, with Africans and their supposed high level of self esteem. I suspect that in the "zero sum equation" folk's minds there's no room for that. Perhaps they are insecure.tard

RE: What do we get out of Africa?
"What do we get out of Africa" is a relevant question depending on how much your nation puts in to Africa, in money or food aid or whatever.

Answers all vary of course. It's an impossibly infinite tangle of good-will, bribes, concessions, bribes, trade agreements, bribes, regional power plays, bribes, corporate nation-gutting, bribes, and of course, bribes.

"Here, have 100 tons of wheat, also 100 tons of industrial waste products."

"Dat is nod acseptabul".

"Okay. Have 50 tons wheat and 500,000 dollars, also 100 tons of industrial waste products."

"We hab a deeeal."

All very complicated when it comes to the details, but fundamentally very simple.

Not relevant considering what many nations may have taken out of Africa over the last 500 or so years.

/\ Surely it's been paid back a thousand times over with all the very expensive social programmes given to black Americans, over the last few decades to try and improve their station in life, sadly to not much avail.

It's a politically neutral statement regarding the current state of affairs.

How is it not relevant?

No, but as a whole doesn't contribute much.

For us, these conflicts can be resolved by appeal to the deeply ingrained higher principle embodied in the law, that individuals have the right (within defined limits) to choose how to live. Well no, if you want to play this game then the most pressing problem in Africa right now is the arbitrary drawn borders between nations that has forced different ethnic groups to live together without any sort of framework.

This is a direct result of bankrupt European nations running away from problems they created after WW2 was over and till that issue is fixed then no 'expensive social programs given to African Americans' is going to compensate for the chopped limbs and borders of the Congo

A typical self deprecating joke some South American people have dwells on their South American land resources, their European culture and their African economies.

We move between light and shadow, mutually influencing and being influenced through shades of gray...

Seriously though, listen to the E. Michael Jones videos above.

What he's getting at is real capitalism/economic, not state-sponsored usury and predatory financial practices hiding behind the guise of (((capitalism))).

WW2 was over 60 year ago. Surely these African nations could re-draw/renegotiate their borders anytime they like, no?

^Sometimes they try (Biafra, Eritrea/Ethiopia,etc) and it gets really messy. We tried redefining colonial borders in Canada 23 years ago, it sucks man.

God damned them all, I was told we'd cruise the seas for American gold, we'd fire no guns-shed no tears, now I'm a broken man on a Halifax pier, the last of Barrett's privateers!

There was this travel forum were an european couple (i think they were from Holland) went in a Land Rover in the DRC from Lubumbashi (i think) to Kinsasa. These were people with some travel experience, and from their interaction with the locals, and from what they told when speaking with other western there (missioners, etc), i have little hope for the black african people.

PD: They are belgian! Here is the link to their trip: http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/th...o-Kinshasa

I've just read this travel report and...

Mindblown Mindblown Mindblown

I showed it to my Kenyan wife and she at first refused to believe that it wasn't trolling/fantasy - she was finally convinced upon seeing the pictures. Like me, she was flabbergasted at the idea of a place so far beyond civilization existing anywhere in the world. Even deep in rural Kenya, she grew up with solid asphalt and gravel roads, with dirt (but firm and still usable for regular cars) trails being found only between tiniest and most remote villages, certainly nothing like even "the greatest" roads of Congo. This is not to mention the vast differences in industry, employment, electricity, water, toilets and just about everything else.

Mindblown2 Mindblown2 Mindblown2

It's crazy how there can be such enormous gaps not just between continents, but also between individual countries. We're talking just 2000 km distance here, about the same as from New York to Houston or London to Moscow, yet it's a whole different world just across the mountain/river/whatever.

Bullshit. The West has and continues to exploit Africa. My home country Nigeria is the sixth largest producer of oil, yet it oil rights are firmly entrenched in the hands of Dutch companies.

RE: What do we get out of Africa?
It concerns European Union, but is still valid.

In 2014, UE and Senegal signed a fishing agreement: for 15 millions of euros, 38 boats get to fish in our waters, for 5 years. 15 millions that go into the government's pocket.

It has been estimated they will fish 70000 tons of tuna. Sold for 15 euros a kg in Europe, roughly Europe will collect 1.05 billions of euros.

Do the math. And wonder why our fishermen die by immigrating to Europe, or shot by our Mauritanian neighbors because they came too close to their side.

And what would happen if the Dutch were kicked out and oil production were left solely to the Nigerians? The same thing that would happen to the farms in Zimbabwe I suspect.
