Implying that Africans wouldn't be able to become advanced civilization without magical metal that fall out of sky.

You're right. All they need is another couple thousand years.

Just a general note, but it seems there are some serious advances on malaria and HIV, both soon with vaccines in the human test phase. Imagine if we can get rid of these two diseases in the next decade, the impact on Africa would be immense. It would also be a great achievement for humanity as a whole.

RE: What do we get out of Africa?
People may disagree but a lot of it comes down to geography. Looking at a map Europe is smack dab in the center of things. Civilization isn't developed in a vacuum and Europe is in an ideal spot to access other cultures and countries. Middle-east to the south east Asia to the east Africa to the south. If you lived in Angola 2000 years ago who were you interacting with besides other tribesmen? Any number of things could kill you so traversing the continent more than likely meant certain death. Year round warm weather meant that harsh winters weren't a problem either so better to just stay put and subsist.

When I look at a world map, it seems like the UK, who did arguably the most colonizing of any country ever, is not at all "central" but is instead way out on the edge of Eurasia. I'd say that the approximate triangle from Turkey to Morocco to India is better situated in terms of gaining access to all corners of the Eastern hemisphere:

Your argument is reminiscent of Guns, Germs and Steel by (((Jared Diamond))):

Also, I think many of you may find this interesting. Seems to explain an awful lot:

What I Learned in the Peace Corps in Africa: Trump Is Right
By Karin McQuillan
Three weeks after college, I flew to Senegal, West Africa, to run a community center in a rural town. Life was placid, with no danger, except to your health. That danger was considerable, because it was, in the words of the Peace Corps doctor, "a fecalized environment."

In plain English: s--- is everywhere. People defecate on the open ground, and the feces is blown with the dust – onto you, your clothes, your food, the water. He warned us the first day of training: do not even touch water. Human feces carries parasites that bore through your skin and cause organ failure.

Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined that a few decades later, liberals would be pushing the lie that Western civilization is no better than a third-world country. Or would teach two generations of our kids that loving your own culture and wanting to preserve it are racism.

Last time I was in Paris, I saw a beautiful African woman in a grand boubou have her child defecate on the sidewalk next to Notre Dame Cathedral. The French police officer, ten steps from her, turned his head not to see.

I have seen. I am not turning my head and pretending unpleasant things are not true.

Senegal was not a hellhole. Very poor people can lead happy, meaningful lives in their own cultures' terms. But they are not our terms. The excrement is the least of it. Our basic ideas of human relations, right and wrong, are incompatible.

As a twenty-one-year-old starting out in the Peace Corps, I loved Senegal. In fact, I was euphoric. I quickly made friends and had an adopted family. I relished the feeling of the brotherhood of man. People were open, willing to share their lives and, after they knew you, their innermost thoughts.

The longer I lived there, the more I understood: it became blindingly obvious that the Senegalese are not the same as us. The truths we hold to be self-evident are not evident to the Senegalese. How could they be? Their reality is totally different. You can't understand anything in Senegal using American terms.

Take something as basic as family. Family was a few hundred people, extending out to second and third cousins. All the men in one generation were called "father." Senegalese are Muslim, with up to four wives. Girls had their clitorises cut off at puberty. (I witnessed this, at what I thought was going to be a nice coming-of-age ceremony, like a bat mitzvah or confirmation.) Sex, I was told, did not include kissing. Love and friendship in marriage were Western ideas. Fidelity was not a thing. Married women would have sex for a few cents to have cash for the market.

What I did witness every day was that women were worked half to death. Wives raised the food and fed their own children, did the heavy labor of walking miles to gather wood for the fire, drew water from the well or public faucet, pounded grain with heavy hand-held pestles, lived in their own huts, and had conjugal visits from their husbands on a rotating basis with their co-wives. Their husbands lazed in the shade of the trees.

Yet family was crucial to people there in a way Americans cannot comprehend.

The Ten Commandments were not disobeyed – they were unknown. The value system was the exact opposite. You were supposed to steal everything you can to give to your own relatives. There are some Westernized Africans who try to rebel against the system. They fail.

We hear a lot about the kleptocratic elites of Africa. The kleptocracy extends through the whole society. My town had a medical clinic donated by international agencies. The medicine was stolen by the medical workers and sold to the local store. If you were sick and didn't have money, drop dead. That was normal.

So here in the States, when we discovered that my 98-year-old father's Muslim health aide from Nigeria had stolen his clothes and wasn't bathing him, I wasn't surprised. It was familiar.

In Senegal, corruption ruled, from top to bottom. Go to the post office, and the clerk would name an outrageous price for a stamp. After paying the bribe, you still didn't know it if it would be mailed or thrown out. That was normal.

One of my most vivid memories was from the clinic. One day, as the wait grew hotter in the 110-degree heat, an old woman two feet from the medical aides – who were chatting in the shade of a mango tree instead of working – collapsed to the ground. They turned their heads so as not to see her and kept talking. She lay there in the dirt. Callousness to the sick was normal.

Americans think it is a universal human instinct to do unto others as you would have them do unto you. It's not. It seems natural to us because we live in a Bible-based Judeo-Christian culture.

We think the Protestant work ethic is universal. It's not. My town was full of young men doing nothing. They were waiting for a government job. There was no private enterprise. Private business was not illegal, just impossible, given the nightmare of a third-world bureaucratic kleptocracy. It is also incompatible with Senegalese insistence on taking care of relatives.

All the little stores in Senegal were owned by Mauritanians. If a Senegalese wanted to run a little store, he'd go to another country. The reason? Your friends and relatives would ask you for stuff for free, and you would have to say yes. End of your business. You are not allowed to be a selfish individual and say no to relatives. The result: Everyone has nothing.

The more I worked there and visited government officials doing absolutely nothing, the more I realized that no one in Senegal had the idea that a job means work. A job is something given to you by a relative. It provides the place where you steal everything to give back to your family.

I couldn't wait to get home. So why would I want to bring Africa here? Non-Westerners do not magically become American by arriving on our shores with a visa.

For the rest of my life, I enjoyed the greatest gift of the Peace Corps: I love and treasure America more than ever. I take seriously my responsibility to defend our culture and our country and pass on the American heritage to the next generation.

African problems are made worse by our aid efforts. Senegal is full of smart, capable people. They will eventually solve their own country's problems. They will do it on their terms, not ours. The solution is not to bring Africans here.

We are lectured by Democrats that we must privilege third-world immigration by the hundred million with chain migration. They tell us we must end America as a white, Western, Judeo-Christian, capitalist nation – to prove we are not racist. I don't need to prove a thing. Leftists want open borders because they resent whites, resent Western achievements, and hate America. They want to destroy America as we know it.

As President Trump asked, why would we do that?

We have the right to choose what kind of country to live in. I was happy to donate a year of my life as a young woman to help the poor Senegalese. I am not willing to donate my country.

Europe didn't colonize the world, because it is in the center of the map. Instead Europeans put themselves in the center of the map because they colonized the world.

Actually Europeans colonized the world precisely because they were in the periphery of things.

In the East there was the wealthy and fertile India where you could reap crops multiple times per year, full of exotic fruit and spices. Europeans wanted to reach that fairy place out of the myths coming from times of Alexander the Great. But they couldn't. Because the center of the wold - the place where the three parts of the known world - Europe, Africa and Asia were connected were conquered and ruled by Muslims.

Muslims, who were right at the center, didn't need any innovation - they were content to take their new technologies by robbing and taxing the caravans of silk road that connected the west with east - they were the parasitic middlemen.

Indians and Chinese had fertile and warm climate and didn't feel the need to travel anywhere.

Europeans living on the cold and damp northwestern edge of the world felt the need to travel to discover richer and more fertile fantasy lands. Blocked by Islam on land they built ships to achieve that goal.

Two major factors are responsible for Europeans inventing advanced seafaring and colonizing the world:
1.Being on the dark, cold edge of the world.
2.Islam - the ancient European Nemesis from it's birth and counterweight force that had to be circumvented.

1.Access to the (non-freezing) Sea. Main Russian Geopolitical problem till present day.
2.Western Europe were saved from Muslims and Mongols by Eastern - Europeans several times. Polish, Lithuanians, Ukranians, Hungarians, Bulgarians - they are the silent heroes who ensured the peaceful lives of Western Europeans with their own blood and with their own lower standard of life. Their reward is on a spiritual level and is apparent now when they are not cucked like the West Europeans.

True but looking at the landmass that is Eurasia plus Africa (all connected by land) there is a geographic center, which is approx. north Africa to the middle east.

RE: What do we get out of Africa?
When I say "center" I don't mean center of the globe. I mean center in that the most advanced civilizations of the time are all fairly accessible to one another. Greeks regularly visited Ancient Egypt culminating in Alexander the great conquering it and establishing a dynasty; the Silk Road routes connected east and west. Looking at the map only the UK seems to be truly on the "periphery" and even then Englands dominance is relatively recent, really establishing itself within the past several hundred years.

Also it sounds like you guys are disagreeing and agreeing with me at the same time. The overall point is that geography plays a vital importance in the development of civilization.

Also there is a lot of evidence to point that a lot of if not most foreign aid is a money laundering scam and exists to prop up oligarchies corporations and international banks first and foremost.

RE: What do we get out of Africa?
(01-25-2017 03:27 PM)Akwesi Wrote:  I love Africa, but not for its supposedly vast wealth in resources and human potential. There is a reason this huge continent contributes little more than 2 percent of world GDP. There are in fact very limited resources, and the land is for the most part quite poorly suited to agriculture or even human habitation. It is too hot to work, rain patterns (tropical deluge style) lead to flooding and then quick evaporation - bad for farming, the rivers are generally difficult to navigate, the ocean is too rough, desert, jungles, parasites, etc. severely constrain transport and husbandry. There is very little in terms of work ethic or property rights, corruption is rampant, and very few people give a shit about niceties like human rights or the environment. Any wealth that is accumulated is quickly spent in conspicuous consumption or in maintaining impressively large harems of wives, concubines, mistresses, and sugarbabes. Instead of reinvesting profits in real business, men funnel money into women's little pet projects (hair salons and clothing shops) in what can only be defined as vaginal capitalism.

There are very good reasons why Africa until 150 years ago was a mostly empty continent, Even in 1900 Africa had only about 133 million people compared to more than 400 million each in Europe and China. The drastic changes in these ratios since then can largely be attributed to the introduction of Western medicine, sanitation, fertilizer, etc., and the population growth of recent decades is clearly not sustainable in any meaningful sense of the word. Worse, even in those countries that have enormous oil resources compared to population size (and I'm not even talking about Angola and Nigeria, but countries like Equatorial Guinea and Gabon) it has done the ordinary man little good.

Finally, I would of course encourage some of the more optimistic posters in this thread to go and invest in Africa if they truly have such rosy notions of its economic potential. When you come back you might be wondering if colonialism was really such a bad idea after all. While most people in the West assume that Africans hate white people for colonialism, the reality is that this is only the case with the elites who have taken over the bureaucratic and academic positions once held by whites - and have done an even shittier job of it, in most cases. In fact, many Africans still wish they had Europeans in charge. I've even heard some express envy of South Africa for staying under white rule longer! (However, South African and Zimbabwean blacks actually do hate white people).

End of rant, now let's all cross over to the black hotness thread and study the REAL reason why Africa is awesome. Let's quickly forget the supposed economic grandeur of a continent with palm oil as one of it's top 5 exports.

Throughout history the greatest civilizations have been the ones that perform best at warfare. This means the tribes and nations who sucked at fighting rapidly vanished. Africa simply never got good at war. You can blame geography all you want, but many parts of Europe are very isolated and still produced great armies.

Football players that help European teams win trophies.

Coffee

Mobile Phones (Coltan)

Chocolate (Cocoa)

Diamonds

Enough Natural resources that the rest of the world exploits, especially Europe. I am sure you guys know about the Berlin conference.

Africa has a large quantity of natural resources, including diamonds, sugar, salt, gold, iron, cobalt, uranium, copper, bauxite, silver, petroleum and cocoa beans, but also woods and tropical fruits

The football players are French. They are born and raised in France, train under the French youth football programs paid for by French tax payers and are coached by French coaches. They owe all of their successes to France. Back in Africa, these kids would all be unemployed living on less than a dollar a day.

Coltan, diamonds, bauxite and copper existed for millions of years under the ground. Africans didnt produce it with our melanin rich epidermis. We just happened to inhabit the surface. Without western technology, all of it would have remained there.

Coffee, Cocoa and sugar cane? Is that supposed to be impressive? We harvest what already grows naturally and sell it. Hardly an achievement.

Keep believing that Africa built the rest of the world with its resources if it makes you feel better. The truth is that if Africa disappeared tomorrow, the whole continent with its land and people, the world would go on just fine.

Africa being a net importer of oil, prices would actually drop. Gold, diamond and cocoa prices might soar for a while but that's where the problems will end. The continent is a non-entity and believing otherwise is nothing but a deliberate attempt at generating some false pride by western black board members.

My advice is to let it go. Your worth as a black man (or a man of any race) is determined by who you are as person not on the performance of your skinfolk across the Atlantic. If you drop that metric maybe you'll be able to see that hell hole of a continent for what it is. It is very a common mental trap that affects men of all races. I've seen the Indian board member Cobra defend that shit hole subcontinent while living comfortably in America. The dude schooling him was an Indian living in India. And I've seen white guys painting a rosy picture of Russia and Putin just because they have associated their own value as a person with that of the race.

Blue pill thinking all around. Naturally, none of these guys would live in or invest money in Africa, India, Russia. That alone should be argument enough.

Perhaps so but, likely without Iphones and other computer tech, from what I've read, the minerals that are used in such products are unique to Africa. I don't want to get into a football argument because soccer is gay but do you believe that in 2018, a France team without players of African origin would have won? Like the raw materials, which are mostly processed and refined abroad (diamonds in Antwerp, oil in the US) Africa also exports humans who are educated and continue to high degrees abroad. Like the diamonds and oil, they make money, as exceptional athletes and also professionals, academics, etc. Educated Africans are some of the best people I've ever met and welcome them to my country, in my experience, the are hard working, disciplined, good Christian people but holy shit do they ever hate faggots.

Of course, I'm referring to the top 10% or so and not the people who are floating across the Med on dinghies but the original question of this thread is "what do we get out of Africa?"

God damned them all, I was told we'd cruise the seas for American gold, we'd fire no guns-shed no tears, now I'm a broken man on a Halifax pier, the last of Barrett's privateers!

This is truth. One of my co-workers is an Eritrean guy who is smart and red-pilled, and has a great sense of humor. And he really hates faggots as well. Did I mention we work in SF? Laugh

I've been invited to hang out with him and his crew in Ethiopian/Eritrean restaurants and clubs in Oakland. They really know how to have a good time, and they've always been hospitable towards me, even when I was the only white guy in the place. He has also told me point blank that he will introduce me to a nice Habesha girl to marry when I am ready.

How can I hate on that?

Rick Von Slonecker is tall, rich, good-looking, stupid, dishonest, conceited, a bully, liar, drunk and thief, an egomaniac, and probably psychotic. In short, highly attractive to women. - Whit Stillman

RE: What do we get out of Africa?
In those that are interested in understanding more behind the major clusterfuck that is a large part of Africa, I recommend reading 'The bottom billion: why countries are failing and what can be done about it' by Paul Collier. It doesn't go into detail on cultural and social reasons, which I personally, living in Africa currently, do think play a major role, but it does provide insight in some very other important factors which hinder progress, namely:

-The role of conflict within some African states on how this creates a cycle that is hard to get out of
-The resource trap, evident in countries like Congo, Eq.Guinea, Angola, Nigeria, etc.
-Landlocked countries and/or bad neighbors: even some countries with good intentions and good policy might simply not be able to escape poverty if they are surrounded by countries that do not share these intentions and/or if they do not have access to international trade due to being landlocked (predominantly an African phenomenon).
-Bad governance: which deals with corruption which is rampant, patrimonialism and false democracies etc.

If I have the time, I might write a datasheet on it. On top of this, there are those countries that are doing a lot better now such as Botswana and Rwanda for instance, which indicate that we should not consider the continent lost for development. Nevertheless, Akwesi's post does make some good arguments as well. It's a very complex and diverse situation and it requires a tremendous effort, in first place internally and stimulated by external factors for a country to be able to get out of the poverty cycle.

RE: What do we get out of Africa?
Amen to that. For example, this guy is corrupt for sure, but boy can he put a globalist simp in his place:

Quote:President Obama on Saturday made an personal plea for gay rights during his visit to Kenya, warning that “bad things happen” when countries discriminate against certain groups of people.

“As an African-American in the United States, I am painfully aware of the history of what happens when people are treated differently under the law,” Obama added during a joint press conference with Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta. “I’m unequivocal on this.”

But Obama’s call for universal gay rights was quickly dismissed by Kenyatta, who described the issue as something “our culture, our society does not accept.”

“For Kenyans today, the issue of gay rights is really a non-issue."

Ohshit

Quote:"We want to focus on other areas that are day-to-day living for our people,” he said, citing heath concerns and women’s rights.

“This issue is not really an issue that is on the foremost of mind for Kenyans, and that is a fact," he said to some applause.

Kenyatta’s comments represent the views of the vast majority of African leaders, many of whom rely on their religious beliefs in their day-to-day governance.

Also, you'd be surprised how hard it is to push GMO crap in African countries. We accept it no problem in the west, but there it takes many decades of relentless lobbying or doesn't work at all.

You're right. All they need is another couple thousand years.

The world feeds of Africa and its natural resources, so the claim about it being a non-entity is false.

My advice to you, pick up a book and educate yourself on history and current global economics.

Europe was starving and plagued by diseases before Imperialism, why do you think they call it the dark ages!

The only problem in Africa, is the external parasitic foreign agencies (IMF, CIA etc) that rape, pillage and cause internal turmoil for their vast gains.

What do we get out of Africa? Human Civilization.
